What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
I want to apply for reporter because I enjoy writing and being involved in the community. I think it would be fun to meet different people, cover events, and create stories that players actually want to read. I’d also like to improve my writing and contribute something useful to Karakura.
Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
I’ve had experience with writing through school, roleplay, and writing for fun. I enjoy taking an idea and turning it into something other people can understand and enjoy. I’m not perfect, but I’m always willing to take criticism and improve. I took AP lang, AP lit, and im currently in a college level course of english. I passed these classes with all A’s and ended the school year with a 4.3 GPA!
Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
Yes. I understand the rules and will make sure to follow them. If I’m ever unsure about something, I’ll ask for clarification rather than risk breaking a rule.
Why should we accept you over others?:
I don’t think I should automatically be accepted over everyone else, but I believe I’d be a good addition to the team. I’m willing to put effort into my work, take criticism, and learn from my mistakes. I’d also try to make my reports interesting rather than simply completing them for quota. Im known for trying to make club activities and events on time.
Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports?:
Yes. I understand that personal IC or OOC opinions shouldn’t affect my reports. I would make sure to present information fairly and give different sides of a situation a chance to be heard.
Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
Yes. I believe I can stay active and complete the monthly quota. I understand that keeping up with the requirements is part of the responsibility of being a reporter.
Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
I imagine a reporter’s job as gathering information, attending events, interviewing people, and turning what they find into interesting and unbiased articles. A reporter should investigate instead of immediately believing rumors and should make sure their information is accurate.

“Truthfully, I don’t have any previous job experience.”
He would glance down briefly before continuing, seemingly wanting to be honest about it rather than make excuses.
“Most of my time has been spent focusing on my education and developing my own skills. I’ve never had the opportunity to hold a formal position before, so this would be one of my first real chances to enter a professional environment.”
He would straighten slightly in his chair.
“I understand that not having experience could put me at a disadvantage compared to someone who’s already worked in the field. However, I don’t think experience is something you’re simply born with. Everyone has to start somewhere.”
He would offer a small, confident smile.
“I’m willing to learn, listen to people who have more experience than me, and accept criticism when I need it. I’d rather admit that I have something to learn than pretend I already know everything.”

Lysander would think for a moment, carefully considering his answer.
“I’d describe myself as observant, patient, and curious. I’ve always been the type to notice small details that other people overlook. I’m usually more comfortable listening before speaking because I don’t think you can properly understand someone if you’re already planning your response.”
He would give a small shrug.
“I’m friendly and open minded, although I can be stubborn when there’s something I genuinely want to figure out. I try not to judge people based on first impressions because everyone has a story you might not know about.”
What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:
Lysander would immediately seem more interested in the question. He would pick up his notebook and turn to a blank page.
“I’d like to write about things that actually affect the people living here. Events, community projects, local businesses, interesting individuals, public concerns, and even smaller stories that might not receive much attention.”
He would begin writing a few notes as he spoke.
“I don’t want to only focus on dramatic events. Sometimes the most interesting stories are about ordinary people doing something worth talking about.”
He would look back up.
“I’d achieve that by going directly to the source. I’d speak with people involved, ask questions, take notes, verify information, and make sure I understand the situation before writing about it. I wouldn’t want to build an entire article around a rumor.”
Lysander would smile slightly.
“And yes, I’d absolutely be willing to leave my comfort zone. If I’m asked to cover something I’ve never experienced or don’t know much about, I’d see it as an opportunity to learn. Journalism would become pretty boring if I only wrote about things I was already comfortable with.”

Lysander would sit back slightly, taking a moment before answering.
“I expect the position to require responsibility and consistency. I know being a reporter isn’t going to mean that every day is exciting or that every person I approach will immediately want to talk to me.”
He would lightly tap his fingers against the table.
“I expect there will be stories that take a lot of time, interviews that don’t go anywhere, and moments where I’ll have to completely rethink an article. I’m prepared for that.”
He would give a small smile.
“More than anything, I expect to learn. Since I haven’t had a formal job before, I know there will be things I don’t understand immediately. I’d like to learn from people around me, improve my writing, become more confident when interviewing people, and eventually become someone others can rely on.”
He would straighten his posture.

Lysander would walk along the sidewalk with a notebook tucked underneath his arm, glancing down at the address written on a small piece of paper. After making sure he had arrived at the correct location, he would straighten his shirt before knocking twice on the door.
After a few moments, the door would open. A young woman would look toward him curiously.
“Hello. Are you Maya Thompson?”
The woman would nod, offering a polite smile.
“Yes, that’s me. Are you Lysander?”
Lysander would smile and hold up his notebook.
“That’s right. I’m a reporter, and I appreciate you agreeing to speak with me today. I’ll try not to take up too much of your time.”
Maya would step aside, allowing him inside.
“Of course. Come in.”
Lysander would step inside and take a seat across from her. He would place his notebook on his lap, click his pen, and prepare to begin.

“When I first arrived, I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d stay. I didn’t know many people and everything felt unfamiliar. Eventually, though, I started meeting people and finding places I enjoyed. Now it feels strange to imagine myself living somewhere else.”
Lysander would nod before writing down a few notes.
“Four years is definitely long enough to see some changes.”

“If someone moved to Karakura tomorrow, what advice would you give them?”
Maya would smile.
“Don’t be afraid to talk to people.”
She would shrug.
“I know it sounds simple, but it makes a huge difference. When I first came here, I spent way too much time keeping to myself because I was nervous about meeting people.”
She would laugh quietly.
“If I’d stayed that way, I probably wouldn’t have made half the friends I have now.”
Lysander would write down her answer.
“So your advice is basically to put yourself out there?”
“Exactly. You don’t have to become best friends with everyone. Just don’t shut yourself away.”

“Is there anything you’re currently looking forward to?”
Maya’s expression would brighten.
“Actually, yes. I’m helping organize a small community event soon.”
She would sit up slightly.
“It’s nothing massive, but we’ve been planning it for a while. I’m mostly excited to see everyone actually show up and enjoy themselves.”
“Do you think events like that help bring people together?”
“Definitely. Even if people don’t know each other beforehand, having something to participate in gives them an excuse to talk.”

“Alright, you’ve got one opportunity. If you could change one thing about Karakura, what would you choose?”
Maya would laugh.
“Only one? That’s cruel.”
Lysander would laugh softly.
“Unfortunately, that’s the question.”
Maya would think for a moment.
“I’d probably make people more willing to communicate with one another.”
She would fold her hands together.
“So many problems could probably be avoided if people simply talked things out instead of immediately assuming the worst.”
Lysander would nod.
“That’s actually come up a few times during our conversation.”
“Because I think it’s true. People are always going to disagree. That’s normal. But disagreement doesn’t have to turn into something bigger.”

“Well, that’s everything I had. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me, Maya. I appreciate you being honest with your answers.”
Maya would smile and stand from her seat.
“Thank you for having me. I actually enjoyed that more than I expected.”
Lysander would stand as well, offering a polite smile.
“I’m glad to hear it. Hopefully, people reading this will get to see Karakura from a perspective they might not normally hear.”
Maya would nod.
“I hope so. Sometimes it’s nice to hear something positive for a change.”
Lysander would give a small laugh.
“I’ll see what I can do.”
He would tuck his notebook underneath his arm and head toward the door. Before leaving, he would turn back toward Maya.
“Have a good evening.”
“You too, Lysander.”
He would step outside and quietly close the door behind him. Once back on the sidewalk, he would pull his notebook out again and begin reviewing his notes, already thinking about how he would turn the conversation into an article.
