WHAT YOU NEED TO SUGGEST OR MENTION: Changes to CCTV around the city.

As someone who somewhat frequently commits crimes around Karakura, I among many others have noticed how borderline impossible it is to get around CCTV cameras. It would be very nice if there was a way to actually play around them, or be strategic about things. Crimes should certainly not be easy to commit, however when the effort is there, they should be possible to pull off.

SUGGESTED CHANGES TO BE MADE

-If the CCTV camera head is not visible at Minecraft's maximum render distance, it should not be able to see you. Either that, or cameras should have an actual set viewing range. I say this as crimes have been caught on tape that have taken place 100+ blocks away from the camera.

-Cameras should have 180 degree rotation. There is an unnecessary amount of cameras on the map given that all of them have 360 degree rotation. Doing so allows for people to somewhat play around the cameras; or at the very least, it makes a lot of pre-existing cameras a lot more useful.

-Cameras should be able to be either temporarily disabled, or temporarily destroyed. Most recently, they have become indestructible, making any strategic or well thought out efforts for a crime/escape plan futile. Be it spray-painting over the camera lens, bashing it with a bat, or doing something involving the rolling system followed with screenshot proof that said camera had been temporarily covered/disabled/destroyed for, who knows, 15 OOC minutes? Would open up a lot more options for people when planning things out/trying to play things smart.

Thanks for reading the feedback, cheers.

I agree that CCTV should not be able to see to infinity. If you're super far away, realistically, the footage would see you as a pixelated/blurry figure.

It’s the same for what we see, as a staff member doing CCTV, we give what the camera would see from that point

While most GangRPers might agree to this suggestion, here are my thoughts on some of the things you listed:

Having these extremely specific rules on cameras around the map will only lead to more arguments and disagreements involving CCTV and GangRP itself. As a second hand witness, we all know how long those arguments take and how messy they become.

Following this factor, staff members who answer /help for CCTV will have to put in 10x the effort, and mistakes could be made. Half the time, staff members leave their current roleplay involvement to do CCTV for the KPD. Because of this, they usually check around the location, and if there’s a camera in sight, then it’s caught on CCTV. It makes it simple and fast.

To add onto that point, having the possible specific rules would cause the KPD to not receive CCTV as fast as it is needed. Realistically, police check the cameras and get an immediate answer. It’s possible for the criminals to move locations before a staff member can even determine the sightings and such.

When it comes to temporary removal of cameras, CCTV would still catch you covering the camera, which makes it suspicious on its own. If anything, you’re practically asking to be investigated.

However, I do agree with the amount of chunks a camera can see. Having some reasoning within that factor will help with more realism throughout GangRP.

In summary, having specific rules will lead to more arguments and nit-picky actions. However, the distance a camera can see should be limited for CCTV.
I appreciate your own feedback on this post, and I'm happy to respond to your points.

-With the render distance head idea, all the staff member would have to do is fly over to the location of the crime, look, see if they see a camera head, and if not then it's not visible.

-By temporarily disabling a camera; for all anyone would know, a lone masked person walked up and destroyed it, and that's if even the destroyed camera gets reported. But either way, It wouldn't catch the 12 guys stabbing 12 other guys moments later.

-Along with the potential for CCTV taking time; I can't speak for everyone, but I enjoy having time to type out dialogue & actions, as this is a roleplay server, not call of duty, and its a shame that people need to copy paste actions and move at a million miles an hour to have a chance at successfully pulling off a crime.

i don't believe this has ever happened. if you have proof, dm me.

Cameras should have 180 degree rotation.
this has always been a thing. i don't remember cameras having 360 degree view. if they do, @Loooper pattern this shit up.

i don't remember there even being an "unnecessary amount of cameras" in the first place. the staff literally went out their way to destroy most of the cameras in the city, only leaving the ones where it makes the most sense to leave. (ex. important builds, apartments and spawn.)

Be it spray-painting over the camera lens, bashing it with a bat, or doing something involving the rolling system followed with screenshot proof that said camera had been temporarily covered/disabled/destroyed for, who knows, 15 OOC minutes?
i believe this has also been a thing. i don't ever remember that being removed, or cameras being indestructible.

main points i'm trying to make here are that all these points are already actual things in the game. (besides that 100 block shit) if they were removed, i was unaware of this and these should all be brought back.

That's a smart way of doing it, however the problem lies in that staff members are able to see things from super far places that players are quite literally unable to see, even if they have everything of their own set to the maximum ranges. Unless there is some way to make heads appear at the same range as player model entities.

You got it; everything I stated here is how things currently are, and proof can be shown.

ACCEPTED

- A large majority of cameras on the map have been removed already & will continue to be removed in areas that are determined to be way too overcrowded with them or excessive.
