In as much detail as possible, describe the role of your chosen school employee: Library auxiliary is someone that is important to have in a functioning library. To cater to all of the students’ needs, there must always be skilled and qualified staff there to encourage the students through their way of life. They contribute to the structure of the books, making sure they are returned and exchanged to the correct places in the library, for other students to be able to use. Organization is a big factor in this job, being able to sort and categorize the books into their designated areas is essential to the job of any library worker. They also help students check out books and use their technological skills to print papers, keep book records, and shelf books. Having another skill set of being capable of utilizing all given equipment can help further the education that not only the students are receiving but also the staff, as they are able to learn more about the equipment they use and how it can affect the environment and make the jobs easier for everyone in the faculty. They have to use their organizational skills and be very detail oriented. Details are always something a library auxil must look out for, as the job attains to many small details, but the little things do matter and can generally make school life simpler to all by just being a little more detail oriented and being able to adapt to these skills. Simply putting the staplers by the printer, making sure the printer is always stocked, constituting that the returned books are always placed back onto the shelves as quickly as possible for other students to check out can help a lot when students or teachers come in to check out a book. Using public speaking skills, they also must present themselves in front of the students in a friendly and inviting manner. They also must use their authoritarian rights to supervise the atmosphere in the library, making sure everything is okay with the students, teachers, other staff, and importantly, the librarian. Assisting everyone and making preparations to make sure the day goes by smoothly is detrimental to the community as a whole. Becoming a contribution and helping repair the books if there is any damage to them can preserve the books, allowing for more use out of them and more students are able to read the book and gain knowledge from them. They must also help prepare the supplies in the library for staff and student use. The supplies should always be in stock so that no student is put at a disadvantage when it comes to learning because learning is where the standard is at, learning is why people must fill these positions. And if needed, they must be able to fulfill the duties of a real librarian in case of absence because one can never know just what situation can occur. They would also answer multiple telephone lines, making referrals and taking messages appropriately, while staying constantly organized, making sure that everything is coordinated well. It is simply a library auxiliary's job to greet students and faculty members without saying. The library auxiliary has to be an active listener so that they can fulfill tasks that are required. Speaking clearly while making steady eye contact and using a proper tone is crucial in an occupation that depends on public service. Additionally, having strong listening skills and communication skills, they must be able to coordinate their actions with others; including those being able to negotiate so that they can instruct the students correctly and persuade them into exhibiting good choices. This ability can also help facilitate your interactions with library patrons and colleagues, as well as with members of other departments in their community.
Do you have any past experience in this type of roleplay?: I have not had much roleplay in this specific type of roleplay. However, as I have been in a diverse range of roleplays, I believe that I can adjust to the standards that are needed to fulfill this role. I am willing to learn, I am willing to grow, and although, I might not be perfect when I start, expanding my RP skills is just a process that happens when you reach out to learn in the first place. I believe in my skills and I believe that I can learn by doing and if I am granted this opportunity, I will dutifully take advantage of it as a chance to learn more.
What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?: On this server, I have been exposed to StudentRP--spending time in many classes and even building meaningful relationships and friendships with some teachers and BusinessRP--being involved in many shops such as Chipotle, 11/7, Kiyoura Cafe becoming a cashier, waitress, and even manager at these amazing shops. However, outside of SRP, I have had experience in roleplaying in different time periods. For example, I have done medieval roleplay where mythological creatures exist and the rules were different so I know what would be a good thing to do during that roleplay wouldn’t be so good to do in this roleplay. I have had experience in customer service where I had to communicate with others who were higher in status then I was they had helped me develop more ideas on how to roleplay more professionally. I have roleplayed as someone who had to nurture and take care of children to make sure that they aren’t malnourished and that they are happy and healthy. I have roleplayed as a student who had been helping my teacher help students who had questions or concerns on topics they were struggling on.
Are you familiar with what your job does? If so, describe it: A library auxiliary has to meet the standards of a real librarian. In case of an emergency or in case of an absence, the person in position must always be dutifully prepared to take the position of the librarian if ever needed. They would normally scan books that students are looking to purchase or borrow. They should always be equipped and ready to allow the students to check out any book they like and if not provided, then to search catalogs to find more books that can fill the library with diversity. A library auxiliary's job would also be to try and make students feel more enthusiastic when they are reading to ensure that the student is gaining more knowledge so they can be more critical thinkers and skillful learners who have a more positive output on reading. Being in an influential member of the faculty due to always being around the students, leaves the library auxiliary needing to always be wary of their actions because they can easily influence a student to act a certain way, following the direction of the employee. They must always be setting a good example and ensuring that all students needs are catered for during hours and off hours. A library auxiliary would also monitor students to make sure they are not damaging any of the school materials and continue to make sure that they are actively learning. Although the employee is always there for the students, they must also monitor the students to ensure that they are not infringing on other students’ learning. The ambiance of the library is in control of the library faculty, so they must use it to their advantage, making sure to set a good example with a friendly demeanor. The library auxiliary advises students on the right resources to look up and encourages students to be open to new ideas and possibilities. Not only must the library auxiliary attain to the student’s needs, but they must also always be able to show a good insight and be able to help the students by giving opinions and recommendations while critically being a presence in the school life of the students. The library auxiliary also performs clerical activities such as filing, typing, photocopying, mailing out material and sorting mail and making sure the books are in the right places as well as fixing any damaged materials. This may be looked over, however tasks like these are what keep the library a stable place that can help the students and the staff critically with their daily lives.
[Situations]
During a workshift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how do you react?: I would at first be taken aback but would regain my composure quickly. I would swiftly ask the student sternly for their name so that I could record it. I would politely and firmly stand my place and advise them to lose the attitude or else, I would be forced to report them to an administrator. If they continue to disrespect me, I would inform a higher up immediately and ensure that they are rightfully punished so they will not continue to harass other faculty members or even students. I don’t see any reasons for a student to feel this way but I do understand the behavior that they demonstrate could be caused by frustration so if I am able to I try to teach everyone else that it’s okay to have a bad day we all have them but what’s most important is that you don’t let your emotions take control of you.
You are doing a hazardous job requested by the School Principal, how do you react?: I would calmly recollect myself and contemplate the positives and the negatives of the situation, looking at it as a whole to weigh the liability of performing the task at hand. If the job is overly dangerous, I would perhaps ask if I could do this job with another person so that the risk factor could go down, but I would have to agree to carry out the act because taking risks is a step forward to success.
Another school employee is doing something very dangerous on the job or acting out of order, how do you react?: I would be in disbelief for a brief moment, however, I would report them to an administrative member immediately. Although, as they are my coworker I would inform them to stop acting out of order. I would have to hold them accountable because unlike a student, they should know better as accepting a school employee job is accepting that they must act as an example to the student body at all times. If they are let off easy the first time, then they can be inclined to repeat their mistakes and if they are not only putting themselves in danger but also the students, I cannot stay silent.
