BACKSTORY
Notice: The Shimura Family mentioned in Charlotte's biography is separate to the active Shimura family in SRP.
They have no relation aside from simply sharing a name!

LIFE IN ENGLAND
Charlotte was born in England, 2003, the child of a British-Norwegian woman, Emilia Shimura, and her Japanese father, Touji Shimura. The young girl lived a peaceful yet fulfilling life, although she wasn’t quite there academically, she had many friends and was active outside of classes with clubs, sports, and a variety of hobbies. This was Charlotte’s life until her 10th birthday, in which the girl’s life was thrown upside down due to a tragedy involving her mother. With Emilia deceased, Charlotte’s father, TOuji, enforced that him and his daughter would return to his family home in Sendai, Japan. This choice was one Charlotte did not take well, yet she had no choice, thus she was made to abandon her ‘perfect’ life in favour of a family she hadn’t yet met.

THE SHIMURA FAMILY
February 4th 2013. Charlotte and her father arrived at the Shimura household in Sendai. The place was large, far bigger than anything Charlotte had lived in before. This was most certainly due to the sheer number of people it housed. Charlotte was swiftly rushed into meeting her new family, a difficult process given she was not yet fluent in Japanese. Though after some swift, translated introductions, she was set up with a room, routine, and new school to attend. It was during this time that she was introduced to her half-sister, Okui, who was willing to help her learn Japanese in their freetime. Due to Charlotte struggling with the language, she found herself failing her classes near immediately. This caused her to take on a far rougher life-style, one that was greatly opposed by the Shimura family. As her behaviour worsened, her family decided to take action, disciplining the girl with an attempt to prevent her from leaving the estate. Charlotte was moved into homeschooling, of which her classes consisted of the basics and Japanese.

As her behaviour worsened, her family decided to take action, disciplining the girl with an attempt to prevent her from leaving home. Charlotte was moved into homeschooling, of which her classes consisted of the basics and Japanese. Charlotte found herself living like this until her 16th birthday, when she declared to her father her desire to leave, a decision she made after discovering the island-town of Karakura. After much fighting, she got what she wanted, allowed to move out on her own, though under the supervision of her father’s family friends, members of the Akiyama family.

CHILDHOOD IN KARAKURA
September 15th 2018. Charlotte set foot in Karakura for the first time, set up with a place to live and a small group of people to guide her. Charlotte was able to enroll into Karakura’s highschool prior to moving to the island, thus she was already expected to attend classes, something that for the first time in half a decade, she was actually excited to do. Just shy of a year after moving to Karakura, Charlotte found herself picked up by the O’Sullivan family - one she’d rarely interact with, yet still grow to love. Following that, she was able to find her own friends, including an Akiyama boy, Okuta Akiyama, who she’d soon come to date despite the countless hours of bullying she had put him through.

ADULTHOOD
The moment Charlotte and Okuta graduated, they moved to Tokyo and married. Their lives were far from perfect, infact they struggled greatly. But it was enough for them, still blinded by optimism. This however would not last long, out of desperation, and unknown to Charlotte, Okuta turned to a life of crime. A life that would soon come back to bite him when on August 29th 2023, their home was broken into in the middle of the night and the couple was attacked, leaving Charlotte injured and her husband deceased. Lost with what to do, and reluctant to return to her family, Charlotte gathered up the funds she could and returned to Karakura.Once in Karakura, Charlotte bought herself an apartment and settled for remote work that narrowly paid her bills. The woman was hopeless, though she found a slight light in the situation, that light coming from a festival hosted by the Shinsei Seinaru Monastery in 2024's Summer. Charlotte was at awe watching the festival, and immediately took it upon herself to catch a job at the shrine. Her time with the Shimura family had left her a follower of Shintoism, thus the place could only remind her of her own home. Thus, in late September of 2024, Charlotte began her life anew, as a shrine maiden, alone in the mountains of Karakura.
