College Student Changes

What's the title of your suggestion?: College Student Changes

What's your suggestion?:
I am suggesting that college student credits go towards actual progression. While they do already provide a benefit in exams, for most people, that doesn't really catch any interest - considering how infrequent exams are. As a base idea, I think that college credits per-level should increase. For example:

HS -> BACHELOR'S
50 CREDITS

BACHELOR'S -> MASTER'S
75 CREDITS

MASTER'S -> PHD
150 CREDITS

According to reality, each level raises with difficulty. These are just a general idea to base off of. Hypothetically, all of these would start from zero per level, so if you've just graduated from high school to college, you have to earn 75 credits to start on your Master's degree.

I am very much open to more ideas along these lines! This is just the base idea that I've got to put out there. :)

How will this benefit the server and community?:
As a college student and someone who has professor buddies, it's a frequent problem that college classes aren't full or have only three or four students when there's twenty or more college students online. While I do not agree with making classes mandatory again (as that was far more of a pain and made them less enjoyable), I do think providing reasons for players to want to attend classes will both help with attendance and interactivity. I know professors try to make their classes interactive, but it's extremely difficult when there's only a couple of people in a class.

as a professor, I am 100% for this suggestion! This would allow us to get more students in our classes while simultaneously giving college students a motive to show! Now, this also brings up something similar that the school faction already has, actually assigning homework to their class. I do think it is a good idea for both factions, as it would increase our count immensely. i do know that some people don't like homework/assigning homework, and that would be okay too! i do think this suggestion is good however, because it allows us as professors to get more students overall.

+1 joined an extremely fun and engaging class yesterday with 2 people. sad to see profs put sm work into their classes with no one attending.

+1 Was the other player in the college class Solorize mentioned, it was extremely interactive and well put together with only two of us there, it was a shame to see so much effort almost go to waste.

At least for going into Masters, I still think we should still have the PhD projects and stuff

I'd disagree with Dark about PhDs (they only occur every ONCE a year, I honestly think they should be like every 5 or so months); this should've been implemented LONG AGO.

(Extra note) As a professor myself, it's SO IRRITATING to not get any students for like SIX classes in a row just because students don't want to attend or see little to no point to classes. I don't disagree with them, honestly!! I understand that stuff like classes can just get really boring. Also the homework system as we speak in college is USELESS, as there's no gain from it!!!

Tho -1 for the PHD bit, I think having those PHD projects add to the roleplay as the research for it needs to be done ICly, it shows what your character is interested in, gives a chance to have feedback from those knowledgeable on the topic, etc. The only reason I can think of that the projects don't happen more often is because you have to set up multiple 'lil events' so that way these projects can be presented and usually because of timezones there has to be multiple of these per round of PHD projects. Let alone SLT and sometimes other faculty have to go through all the projects and give you a grade as well to know if you passed or not.
In short: I agree with this for the masters bit, but I believe PHD should stay as the project. If the projects can happen more than once a year that'd be great but I can see why not.

+1 After getting into collage homework’s become useless so I totally agree but there should also he an easier way to get into collage instead of having to do 50 homework’s and get a good mark. This just doesn’t let more people get into collage and the professors will not be able to have fun with 2 people in their class. So we could reduce the amount of homework’s or maybe even get 1 or more educational credit by receiving a sticker. So more people would behave in class so they could get a sticker and get into collage. Keep in mind this also stops more people to be able to get an adult role, that I don’t think is really realistic a whole town filled with 200 high schoolers and 4-7 adults?

Im pretty sure going from Bach -> Masters are still being in the process as of now. Plus with the previous Internships college students has gained hw credits but without any way of utilizing them. So going to masters would be a valid thing to do.

I would say however Master to PhD should be kept separate to where you gotta participate in the Thesis Defense event since it's a very anticipated event that don't get much attention. In addition, This would also increase the Demand for Homeworks on the Professor's end, but I think it would be a good thing, as this promote more college students to join collage classes, which don't really get much students to begin with. Though it's unsure if the professors in the faction would be able to adapt to the new significant changes.

+1 I’d say also to the phd thing, keep the project to avoid having to get all those credits. I’d say that’s some fair common ground.

+1 other than PHD projects. As much as I can understand, PHD is a huge milestone and I believe the project is a very important and awesome thing we do and should keep it like that. Otherwise, more people being motivated to get credits for classes would be amazing... it's really deflating when you host a class with a plan for fun interactions and only one person ends up attending on a server with 40 players on. I also don't think that can be just pinned down to "your classes aren't fun enough". If I have to clickbait intercoms to get students interested for every class then clearly the issue isn't just classes being engaging...

Also, we'd have more concrete reason now as professor to assign homework if it's doing more than just making a small difference to exams. Of course, homework helps students grade up, but it's not important to people because it's not an immediate route and more of a side option.

Thank you for your suggestion!

- We'll be enabling this for B -> M soon, however PHD will always require additional steps
