What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
I would be honored to have a second shot at the Reporter faction again! I do look back on the experiences I had back in 2024 when I joined the faction for the first time. I understand that the faction has changed a lot since then, with new leadership, new faces, and the improvement of many in the faction, I would love to work on my writing skills and showcase my writing once again with the Reporter faction!

Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
I enjoy writing, simply put. I am given multiple opportunities to create writings and to let my creative juices flow. From my experience helming the College Track team as the captain, I get to work on my DetailRP skills, including in areas such as JockRP and the various domains that Track has to offer! I have had much time to work on and improve my writing skills with my teammates. I also have had much experience writing articles, or expositions for the server. As I had been on the faction in 2024 from March to around December, I have contributed multiple articles to the faction, from expositions on Karakura’s (now outdated) public transport, to discussing the aspirations that Karakura should have as a collective. Although these pieces are now fairly outdated, they do contribute to some of my expertise over time.

Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
Yes! I am very aware of all the rules, past and present. I understand that flouting them will lead to my removal from the faction.

Why should we accept you over others?:
I am someone with past experience in this faction, albeit two years ago. I would like to have a second chance to make my return to the Reporter faction, so that I can showcase my improved writing skills. Since I do have prior experiences in the Reporter faction, I would be able to pick up the rigour that the faction has to offer. I think that I am someone with unique perspectives, and I would be honored to share them should I get accepted into the faction!

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
I understand that should I have a bias (OOCly or ICly), it can affect the reputation of my character, the faction, and myself.

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
Yes! I find myself with some free time in my schedule now, so I trust that I can complete the monthly quota, and also enjoy myself in the faction with my fellow reporters.

Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
The work of a reporter is simple when summarised into a couple steps; One, the information gathering. Firstly, a reporter gathers information on something that they want to report on. For example, they can gather data, garner interviews, surveys, and the like. Secondly, they would have to organise the information into writing, compiling all of their data into tables, graphs, or similar visuals. Lastly, they proofread their work, vetting through for errors, or potential changes.
Reporters in the faction get first-hand experience during events, documenting happenings around the city, bringing new perspectives to readers. They are the people who ‘update’ the masses on events and incidents that they missed out on. Reporters also never work alone; they work with a number of stakeholders, ranging from their fellow journalists in the faction, to members of the public, and even major stakeholders such as the government within the Town Hall. This can usually happen during major Town Hall happenings, such as PSAs, press conferences, or speeches.

IC (In-Character) Information:
Treat this section like it is your own character answering it

1772981587254.png
Full Name:
“HELLO! I am Julian Lee. If you want my Mandarin name too, it’s 李毅芯 (Lǐ yì xīn), although nobody calls me that but my parents.”

Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
“Contrary to popular belief, I am a MISS. My mother forgot to add ‘-ne’ to ‘Julian’, so I’m stuck with a boy’s name. Ms. Julian Lee. Or you know, just Julian will do!’

Current Age (25+):
‘I am only 25!’

Past job/work experience:
Considering that I just graduated from university, none, really.. Do you count internships? I have done a couple! The Straits TImes is my most notable one, that’s a newspaper that runs in my country, but it’s in English, so does it count?’

Degree/qualifications:
‘I graduated from the National University of Singapore, with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Communications and New Media! TOUGH time if you ask me, the professors did not let a single mistake slip past them.’

Nationality and born location:
‘Singapore is where I call home! Lived there all my life. Howeeever, that’s going to change very soon. Karakura might just be next!’

Phone Number:
‘I can be contacted at 030-515-6171!’

How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:
‘My favorite question! These days, people describe themselves with the confines of a 4 letter phrase. Spoiler alert, it’s the Myers Briggs Personality Test. I think that it’s all a bunch of baloney. I take it with a grain of salt. Anyways, I’m an ENFP. I am loud, extroverted, and so, so passionate! If my heart drives me to do something, you BET I’m slamming my foot on the gas. Just sit back and buckle your seatbelts!’

What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:
‘I am a person of the arts. Has been, always will be. I appreciate the arts, from visual to performance. Being able to have a platform to discuss the arts in Karakura would definitely make for some good impressions! I want to explore the different domains of art in this city, and compare it with what I had back home. I heard there is a large band-scene, and even numerous idol troupes! Can’t say the arts aren't flourishing here. It would also be worth an exploration into other art forms, such as the less talked about, literature, and visual arts such as painting! Plus, I’m only just starting out, my adult life has barely begun, what is there I should be afraid of? Comfort zones are only imaginary, just like how rules are meant to be broken sometimes.’

What are your expectations for the job?:
‘Well, knowing that I have done some work for a local newspaper, and the sporadic internship at tabloids and social media places, I would think that Karakura News is not too different. I foresee myself being out and about, just like what I experienced during my internships. I know this job comes with lots of paperwork, writing, brainstorming, and it would be SUCH a bummer if someone gets burnt out. Let’s hope they ain’t me!’

Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:
‘No, no! I do not.. Unless, you’re asking if I want to be up to some nonsense with you? I’ll try my best not to get caught..!’

Fluent Languages (Underline your native):
English
Mandarin
Japanese

PROMPTS:
#1 - General report. Report about a topic, informing players about an event or significant issues to Karakura.

#2 - Interview. It's important to have well-rounded questions. Create your own interview with ten questions or more. And answer them yourself.

INTERVIEW WITH 1AM JAM SESH MEMBERS.jpg

[!] A video started rolling… In the frame, were two tall boys sitting on a couch, and Julian… Seated on the coffee table. The scene seemed to lean on the more casual side, with a soft band instrumental playing in the background. [!]

[!] The lady addressed the camera, a microphone situated on a fork in her grasp. [!]
Julian: ‘Today, I am here to interview two of Karakura’s swaggiest messiahs in the band scene, 1am Jam Sesh!’

[!] One of the boys was graciously handed the fork-microphone. His honeyed voice took over the recording. [!]
Kaoru: ‘I’m Kaoru Ito, the lead guitarist in the band and also, the one who created the band.’

[!] Another male’s voice accompanied. [!]
Nayeon: ‘Holy fork… I’m Nayeon Yi! I’m the drummer of the band! I’m very excited to be a part of this with my boys.’

[!] The lady’s hands gestured to the gentlemen. [!]
Julian: ‘Great to be here with you two tonight, I am Julian Lee. That is spelled, J-U-L-I-A-N. Like the boy’s name. I am a journalist aspirant, and I want to interview you on your firsthand experience in a band! I will be asking some questions. No takesie backsies!’

‘Ten out of ten approval so far… First up, would you like to introduce 1am Jam Sesh to the audience? You did tell us about your roles in the band, but we would rave to hear more about what 1JS is about!’
Kaoru: ‘Uh, well, we’re more based off of wave to earth. But we do all kinds of music. I’d say our main vibe is the style of wave to earth, but then again.. We didn’t want to have just one vibe. We also have Kentaro Katagashi as our lead vocalist, and Isao Nakamura as our bass guitarist. We are all on the football team.’

[!] The lady was intent in listening. [!]
Julian: ‘So, you are all jocks! And dabbling in the music scene too. We stan triple threats! I understand that 1am Jam Sesh is a new band, but what have your experiences been like in 1JS so far?’
Kaoru: ‘Uh well… We haven’t really done much but we have been practicing a lot on our songs. So far, it’s been really fun and it’s easier with all the help from our manager and producer. And of course, our band tailors! They sure do make it all fun.’

[!] The lady’s head tilted, her tone taking on a slight confusion. [!]
Julian: ‘Band tailor! That’s a new phrase I have heard today, what is a band tailor?’
Kaoru: ‘They basically come up with our merch and outfits.’
Julian: ‘Damn, it must be convenient having all your outfits settled by a team. You two are practically popstars.’

[!] Nayeon turned to his bandmate. [!]
Nayeon: ‘You think we’ll make it that far?’

Kaoru: ‘I think we could if we tried…’

[!] Julian mimicked checking off a box with her free hand. [!]
Julian: ‘Obviously. I have heard good things about your band, so talent? Tick! You two have the passion, so, tick! And a support system too? TICK!’
‘Onto the next question. Do you feel that there are any pros and cons of being in a band?’
Nayeon: ‘Pros is that we have elite players, along with elite songs… Cons? We don’t have any!’

Julian: ‘Have there been any difficulties you experienced while in 1JS so far, then? Maybe… Any adversities, setbacks, the like.’
Nayeon: ‘Not really yet, our first practice was basically a hangout session where only Kaoru practiced… And that’s about it… The practice coming up though? We’re gonna be locked in.’
Julian: ‘Oh! What happened to the other bandmates?’
Kaoru: ‘Our other bandmates are pretty busy with other things going on, but they still do make a lot of time.’

Julian: ‘That is surprising to hear, a smooth sailing journey so far! I hope for your experience to remain that way, of course, of course!’
Kaoru: ‘Yeah we can really only hope.’
Julian: ‘Kaoru, Nayeon, what makes you want to stay in the band?’
Nayeon: ‘My amazing bandmates! Without them, I don’t think I would stay.’

Kaoru: ‘Honestly.. Yeah, what Nayeon said.’

[!] A mosquito seems to be annoying Julian and the pair. [!]
Julian: ‘May that mosquito fly away… Are there any factors that make you lose motivation in the band?’
Nayeon: ‘I haven’t lost motivation! I don’t think I could.. Unless it becomes too much, like if I have no rest… That’s the best explanation for it.’

Kaoru: ‘I don’t think any of us would, at least not right now.’

Julian: ‘So, if band literally takes over your life, in a bad way. Do you feel that the local band scene in Karakura is competitive?’
Nayeon: ‘I think we all play on very separate dates at very separate events. So, I wouldn’t really say so? it just depends on what the people like.’
Julian: ‘That is true, taste is subjective. Do you feel that enough people are embracing the arts in Karakura? Not just performance arts, but as a collective.’
Kaoru: ‘I would say so, I think.’

Nayeon: ‘I mean, everyone has their own life to deal with. I think they do when they get the chance. I do think it’s viewed, but just not taken into consideration as much as other people would take it.

Julian: ‘Mhmm, I see! Final question. What do you think could be done to bring more attention to the art scene in Karakura?’
Nayeon: ‘More promotion, that’s the only way to give anything attention.’

Julian: ‘Would you recommend any methods of promotion? Perhaps on radio, the news station does have a radio channel. Social media too, anything that comes to mind?’

Kaoru: ‘I don’t really know other methods besides the ones you just said.’

Nayeon: ‘Any method works, as long as the word gets around, you know? Even haters spread promotion.. So I be thankful for everyone.’

Julian: ‘Alright! That will be all for this interview, thank you very much for being here this morning.’

OOC portion: special thanks to koainoa (Kaoru Ito) and kaikaikitann (Nayeon Yi) for letting me interview them!! x

We appreciate the time and effort you put into your application. However, we preferred other applications this time around, so we have chosen to place you on pending!

- You were once in the Faction before, which means we do know your capabilities! But we want to give newer people a chance this round!

- The next time a faction member leaves, you will be DMed about the spot opening
Please DM @ aania on Discord if you have any queries about the application
