General Appearance

Appearance:
Edward would be relatively normal height at 5'7", having brown eyes and olivey skin. His demeanour is mostly respectful, sometimes firm and tense but mostly relaxed. His hands would be quite large in comparison to his skinny, long arms and his legs would be quite lanky. Edward has a small slouch, as his shoulders are quite thin and his neck long. Edwards most apparent feature was his firm, broad jaw he possessed, which was at times intimidating.
Personality:
Edward is a bit of a quieter type of kid, who's much more inclined to 1 on 1's or small groups rather than huge crowds. He's very social, loving to learn about people and there lives and what they're like, and is one of the more observant kids in school. Edward has always been a thinker, who likes to learn and investigate. Something unique about Edward is the way he talks; it's almost immediately apparent that he's from somewhere in the U.K and he always cringes when they say hes from '~Lond-on~.' Edward is not much of a fighter, but he despises and detests in every way injustice and when he sees it he almost always acts.
Diseases/Illness:
Edward has mild Hay-Fever, which in spring can sometimes go off.
Character Voice:
Deeper, slower British accent.
(Closest I could find but Imagine younger XD)
Equipment:
Edward has an old Pocket watch as well as his Grandfathers Captains Hat.
Clothes:
Often dresses for cold weather, generally has a thick coat with long, relaxed jeans and occasionally will be in sportswear.
Hobbies:
Edward thoroughly enjoys Designing and Sketching things, as well as listening to Music, mucking around with his Guitar, Participating in Athletics, Going to the Beach, Fishing and Exploring.
Serious Problems/Flaws/Addictions/Disorders/Disabilities:
Edward can sometimes get caught up in his doubts, clouding his judgement and causing him to become much more reserved and less engaged.
Skills:
Edward is a skilled thinker; he can work through problems and situations quite well, when he's confident, and can read people well. He can tell when to engage with people and when to back off, and can calm down volatile situations. He knows a little Guitar and lots about CAD and is a Novice Sketcher.
Querks:
His often got one arm to his side and the other to his chest, and this generally shows he's busy thinking about something. He also leans his face on his hands and is known for his 'lanky' walk.
Family:
He grew up raised by his Grandparents while his father was busy working on a Cargo Vessel. He's never met his mother, even though his grandparents are on his mums side, and they've never discussed her, ever.
Backstory:
Edward is originally from Southampton, England, where his father worked as a ship contractor working onboard a large car transporter. His route included shipping Toyotas from Japan to throughout Asia and the Pacific. He'd never met his mother, though, and didn't know much about her or what happened to them as a couple. His father was gone for months at a time, and it was left to his Grandparents to look after him while he was at sea. His grandparents, although they couldn't do much physically, we're possibly the best, most positive influence he could've had; they weren't just his mothers parents, they were role models for the lad, which was exactly what he needed.

When Edward grew up old enough to go to school, he felt he had been missing out on something all the other kids seemed to have; a 'proper' family. He felt his mum and dad had abandoned him because of his fault or something else to do with him, and for a time, he felt isolated and dejected. At the age of 8, he didn't see much point to going onwards in life. His loving grandparents, of course, didn't neglect Edwards mental health. They saw the dark path he was going down and started to really step in as not only guardians but as close as they could be to loving parents. They thus began to do more together; they went to the parks, out for lunches and dinners, he was allowed sleep overs at his friends places and his Nanna would go on excursions with him. It was her love that got him through this difficult time, and from that time, he did his best to do the same; show compassion and understanding.

From around the time Edward turned 12, his Par became a really important role model to him. His Par in his later years worked as a mail man, but when he was younger he too had apparently worked at the docks; he had been a managing director there for some 40 years! This amazed Edward quite a lot, and he loved hearing his stories his Par got to tell him. For Edward, his Par was about the only way he could understand his father, the closest he had, and it was his stories of the 'majesty' and 'excitement' the coastal life had that made him reason his father simply enjoyed his job. His Par also helped him with a lot of his schoolwork, always having something to say on almost anything. He had really taught Edward to take things a bit slower and to simply enjoy life as it comes, as stress free as possible.

Sometime after Edward turned 18, his father decided to pay him a visit. By this point in time, Edward had barely remembered seeing his father no more than a half dozen times, and he didn't really feel at all close to him. It seemed to Edward that whatever problem split up his parents marriage, his father just ran away from. When his father came to the townhouse they lived in, he said he could only stay 3 or so nights. To Edward, this was pretty normal, but from the start something seemed a bit different about the way his father was acting and treating him. Sure enough, the next day, he asked him and him alone out for lunch. Edward of course felt more comfortable if his grandparents came, the ones who actually acknowledged his existence more than 6 times, but they came up to him and told him to have some time with his father. He ended up going and it was quite the surprise how much his father was like him! Right at the end of it, his father asked him a question that would change his life; 'D'you want to come with me, to Japan, to just see what my job's like?' Edward was stunned. Now, after all these years, his father actually was interested in him? He was put on the spot, and he told him 'I...I'll have to think about it.' Edward had never been out at sea before, so he didn't really know what to expect. He knew from the stories of his grandfather he liked the sound of it, but would he really like it?

Edward had a big decision to make. After talking to his Nanna and Par, he'd made up his mind; He was going out to sea! And how excited he really was! He hurriedly packed his bags with only the few things he had, and before he knew he was getting ready to say goodbye. This was probably the most emotional part of his decision; seeing his grandparents for what may well be the last time. With a tear in his eye, he hugged them both, thanking them so for all they had done. He'd organized a little card to give to them, but what surprised him most was that they had gotten him a gift! 'No... I can't possibly take this..' He said, tears starting to flow. 'No, Edward. You deserve this.' His par handed him his very own Captains Hat he had worn when he worked at the docks. 'Were so proud of you, Edward.' He took the gift, amazed at how much trust they had put in him-and he wasn't going to let them down. They said their final goodbyes and off he went, with his father, to the docks.

When Edward finally got to the docks with his father, butterflies in his stomache and lightheaded, he boarded the massive ship; this was his new life, for now. He was excited and disoriented and brimming from ear to ear. He was taken to his little room where he'd be living for the next couple of weeks, and although small and not much to look at, he was happy he had the view of the ocean through the small port-hole. As soon as they were about to set sail, his father was out working with the rest of the small crew of about 20, hurriedly preparing for departure. It was amazing to Edward the sheer size of the ship and how small in comparison there little living spaces were. So far, so good.

Fast-forward a few days, though, andddd... not so good. Edward quickly found out that he actually got very seasick easily and he was stuck in his little room, swaying from side to side and barely able to get up to the loo. His father had been mostly working above deck, preparing the parking spaces for loading at Japan, and hadn't been able to see Edward that much anyway. Edward was heartbroken; all that his par had told him about the joys of being in the midst of it all, out at sea, taking in the wind, yet he was stuck in his small, ugly looking room, stomach churning with no where to go. What a failure. Edward now doubted himself more than ever, looking grimly at the precious gift of the Captains Hat he'd received from his Par. He didn't deserve it.
