Minecraft Account Usernames: ErikFinster (main) DongMoon (alt) Discord username: bronicesky How old are you? 37 years (soon 38 years old) Nationality German-Korean Job Experience Game Creative Lead (focus on Narrative Design), Senior Marketing Project Management, Social Media Editorial, Teaching (Art, Highschool) Time Zone: Central European Time (UTC+01:00) | Describe your activity on the server: Usually I have medium to low activity, since I am full-time-employed during the work week. That translates to 1 or 2 hours each day. I'm able to spend at least one day of any given weekend with high engagement, which is roughly about 6 hours of activity. My activity level increases significantly during vacation periods: 6 weeks of high daily activity in summer, and 2 weeks each during winter, fall, and spring. I enjoy engaging with the community and participating in events, contributing to roleplay scenarios when appropriate. I am confident my activity level will be sufficient to ensure regular shop operations and meet the required 12 openings per month. I am diligent and can adjust my schedule for events and activities. Otherwise, I do spend time organizing Art Contests every 6 to 10 weeks, scheduling Occult Club activities and field trips as Assistant Occult Club Lead, and I fly around as Snuggles (the bee) to pollinate flowers and to surprise passerbys with bee poetry and customs. Being a Shopkeeper would be my first priority (if accepted) until I can gauge the optimal amount of time that this role requires and optimize. |
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted? Yes, I fully acknowledge this. I'm also committed to maintaining a consistent and appropriate activity. (If you're in college, specify your degree level): I'm playing [College][B][Club-Leader] Erik Finster, working towards his bachelor thesis (and a plethora of animal characters which are likely not relevant for this application). I also have a Bachelor College Student on my Alt-Minecraft account (IGname DongMoon) which I reclaimed from a friend. Sincle my primary character on my main account is now [Club-Leader] I'd try to assume the role of a Senior Citizen on my alt account: 'Old Man' Kogorō (79y), the living antique of the Henki-dō Pawn Shop. A tall and ominous man, who spend the post-war era as a traveling salesman, encountering the strange and incredible on his journeys. He is a sprout of the Shōwa era (1945-1989), growing up in rubbles. He helped rebuild his country, showing grit in the face of the turmoil of Past War Japan. Kogorō tells his lifes' story in fables and ever changing tall tales; It is impossible to separate fact from fiction, the man from his imagination. |
Shop Information
What shop are you applying for?
I would like to applying for a new location, a Pawn Shop / Antique Store named "変奇堂" (Henki-dō), which translates to "Mysterious Hall" or "Hall of Curiosities." The shop category would be: Other (Second Hand and Antiques)
I’m more than eager to commission experienced SRP builders to design the exterior and interior of the location, so it can be seamlessly integrated in the style of the city.
Why do you want to become a Shopkeeper?
I am enamoured with lore, details, and stories that build a narrative foundation for great RP. But I also despise skipRP and itemRP - haha!
I love seeing people interact and integrate customs in their roleplay - and there are so many items that can add spice to a scenes. It's one of the reasons I've since made it my habit to order and distribute customs all over the server - and I've done so semi-successful for the last year.
I want to further explore stories through items and artifacts, and I want to provide more players with interesting furniture that brings life to their apartments and offices! A Pawn Shop / Antique Store would be a great addition to the city landscape - and personally, a fitting venue to explore more narrative possibilities for the most amount of players. I also love trading items and I would love to be able to haggle with customers - to drive my collections of rare commodities and furnitures.
Becoming a Shopkeeper would allow me to blend my interest in the obscure, occult, and the local lore with my desire to improve the interactions and living spaces of players, and offer them a place to discover curious artefacts, browse retro nostalgic products, and all kinds of paraphernalia.
While I'm not completely ambivalent towards the business aspect of running a shop, including budgeting, pricing, and customer service, I admit these responsibilities are something that I would love to share with a hired store manager. I would be very happy to hire dedicated shop staff and to give them lots of responsibilities and potential for profit and growth within the shop!
What do you plan to do with your shop, and what makes it unique?
Henki-dō will focus on vintage, retro, rare, and culturally significant items, particularly those with a connection to the 19th and 20th century, Japanese history, mythology, and weirdness, but also items with a general second-hand charm. The shop will feature a rotating exhibit of antiques, including traditional art, samurai armor, ancient scrolls, but also useful furniture from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and the early 2000s.
Additionally, I’d occasionally want to offer a special service: appraising and purchasing player-owned items with interesting backstories or collector value. This will hopefully encourage players to bring in items and learn about their potential value and history. (It could make for an educational experience.)
I would also love to be able to hold live auctions as an event to display and offer special limited customs - so that players can bid and purchase true rarities.
Also, when October comes around, I’d love to work with the event and lore team to provide setups for spooky stories - ghostly encounters - cursed purchases - and Needful Things-inspired RP scenes; whatever triggers and satisfies the morbid curiosity of old and new players.
How many employees do you plan to have?
I plan to have 3-4 employees, including a store manager, a sales associate, (possibly an appraiser) and a security staff member. This team will ensure smooth operations, customer engagement, and item management.
Preferred Location
- Complex Q, Back Alley, next to Club Lux
- Complex O, Storefront, behind the fountain
- Complex M, North Side, next to the cinema
- A weird location, only accessible by using an old elevator . . . (ominous music)
