As the end of October fast approaches, and the leaves have long begun falling from their branches in arrays of warm colors, it’s safe to say we’ve officially reached the midpoint of fall in Karakura city. So what does this mean?
Be excited for the comfort of sweaters as the air shifts. There’s something in this season for everyone!
Some may think of pumpkin spice, caramel apples, or corn mazes when fall is mentioned, while others can’t wait for the spookier side of things, complete with trick or treating, ghost hunting, and dressing up! Of course these are only some of the festivities that’ll soon be arriving. After all, fall comes with an array of different things to enjoy with loved ones– as long as they’re in a red, orange, and yellow paint of course.
A million different activities to choose from means a million different opportunities to spend with your friends.
It’s easy to bond with others in a season filled to the brim with warmth and reunion; bobbing for apples, pumpkin picking, visiting apple orchards.
But let’s say that you’re looking for something more introverted– perhaps you have a bit of an artist’s eye and want something aesthetically pleasing– Fall still has it for you! In fact, if you’re one to scroll social media on the regular, you’d know that fall is the perfect time to enjoy the more beautiful aspects of life– even if you’re stuck at school all day.
Try reading a book under the cafeteria’s tree with the leaves cascading around you, painting a fall scene for art class, or sipping warm cocoa while talking with your friends during study time.
When everyone is busying themselves with schoolwork, signs of fall are tinting each task. Multicolored leaves peek through the windows as you pass by them in the hallway, and the distinct smells of spice perfumes lingers, reminding everyone of the holiday fast approaching. The fall air brings an unspoken agreement amongst students to take it a little easier before the months are wasted.
School faculty has even been touched by the spirit of the season, as teachers decorate their classrooms with pumpkins, grade assignments with leaf-printed stamps, and reward their students with a variety of fall-themed stickers.
The feeling of warmth, and the possibility of new fall-themed events over the horizon, brings hope for a break from everyday life and a gentle comfort to Karakura High.
Despite all this, some people may not fall in love with fall for the activity, but rather the change it brings.
Personally, I’m grateful to be able to take walks in the forest without risking burns, and to finally trade out my ragged tees in favor of hoodies once again. This summer hadn’t exactly been treating me well when it came to trying to not melt into the concrete the moment I stepped outside, and I’m certain that plenty of others share this sentiment.
Not only that, but ghosts, ghouls, and every other spectre residing in Karakura have finally come out to play as Halloween arrives. And although most people won’t be catching more than a glimpse of the occasional spirit, there’s still plenty of spooky-themed school activities to enjoy!
With the faculty handing out treats for the students– even if it’s rarely actual candy– and costumes parading in the halls, the season is in overdrive, and hopefully it’ll take more than just a couple of days for it to wind down.
I hope this short article gave you plenty to think about this fall, and plenty more ideas of what to do. The fall season is a time to enjoy every year, so make sure you spend it well!
