What are your current roles on the server? (If you're college, specify your degree level):
Highschool; Adult; Bird; Goat
Describe your activity and roleplay experience on the server:
First off, let me state this. I’ve been on SRP for six years now, I’ve had my moments where I've quit for a while, and have come back. Though this time, I’m here to stay.
My activity will be split into two halves, depending on which you want. The first half will be activity in the roles I’ve been and played in SchoolRP (Factions), and the second half will be an outline of how active I am and can be through the week.
Roles I’ve had:
Professor:
I started out my time as a faction member as a professor, Rockwell Loke, where I was an ethics professor. I primarily did debates, or pretending to do my job by making up something to say, and hide and seek was ethics. Ethics- required a ton of research for me to actually pull off well, specifically for good debate topics that would get the class to participate, and make for an interesting debate. I aimed to keep my class hooked through the actual interest in the debate. I’d also do goofy things; like tying in ethics to some school activities as a whole; to keep my classes fun.
On top of that, I had to do a fair bit of teamwork for various events. Making sure everything ran smoothly, no rules were being broken. All in all, it required a lot of teamwork, and through this, I made a lot of friends. However, at some point, good times must come to an end. After six months of being a professor, I decided to leave the faction. This was due to personal OOC issues and stress. I couldn’t make my quota, so I let someone else have my position. It was rough to go; everything felt so quiet.
HS-Basketball (1):
Until I joined the HS-Female Basketball team. I joined this team to have something to do, and to try out some new RP, RivalryRP, JockRP, all sorts of sorts. I genuinely enjoyed basketball, my team, and my friends. The people I was with through thick and thin. I did a lot of RP here. As well as even further expanded my ability to detailRP, which proved highly useful to get me to where I am today. Ultimately, however, I left the team. I left due to me no longer having the time to remain in the team; or the will. The captain left the team, and a large portion of us followed the captain out.
HS-Basketball (2):
I later rejoined the same team, HS female basketball. I remained on that same team for about three months. If not more. During my time here, I played the (at one point) infamous Hanako Loke- and participated in a lot of rivalryRP, jockRP, and everything else that comes with being in the sports teams. I also participated in various events throughout my time, causing some chaos in the already burning building.
I got kicked from this team due to OOC toxicity, unfortunately. Though I provided proof to Nozinth, proving the captain’s bias. The captain was later demoted.
How active I am:
(All times listed will be in AST)
So, my typical activity shifts at times. However, throughout the school week, I tend to get up at 4:30-10:30, except on Thursdays and Fridays. Thursdays are 5:30-10:30, and Fridays are at 4:40-N/A.
On the weekends, I don’t really have a set time when I’ll be on or get off. So it’s a little tougher to say. Saturdays, I am on whenever and whenever. Basically, when I feel like getting on, to when I get tired, unless I have something planned. Sundays It’s when I feel like getting on, to 10:30, as I have school in the morning. Unless there is no school on Monday, which basically means however long I want to, and the same as a Saturday.
Finally, the summers. Over the Summer, I go to a lake. Though not overly often. So, my time does shift. However, typically, I have no set time to get on or off. Basically, when I want to or feel like it. My Summer does start in about three weeks, though! And will last till about September 15th.
In your own words, why do you think professors are important to SchoolRP?
Professors are fairly important to SchoolRP to add to the overall dynamic. The school without professors; or college would feel.. In a sense? Almost unrealistic. It’d ultimately destroy the school all together. Furthermore it doesn’t make sense if college students still went to teachers. Professors add to the overall experience and provide a reason why college students exist; and vice-versa. It also adds a more realistic flow of time; and age into SchoolRP.
Also; if the school didn’t have professors; that’d mean no college; meaning no sports rivalry. Which would lead to a very boring overall time in school; and sports. Also removes potential rivalry between faculty. Teachers vs Professors
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive, you may face demotion or removal from the faction?
Yes; I acknowledge and agree to this.
Do you understand if your application is accepted, you may have to undergo professor training?:
Yes; I acknowledge and agree to this.
In-Character Information
What's your character's full name?
Rockwell would sit there; his arms would be crossed. Not in a mean way or anything; just comfortable. Relaxed “Rockwell Loke; that's my name.” He said it calmly; clearly.
Age (Minimum is 27):
He remained in his version of relaxed. “I am..” He began to count on his fingers slightly with a large sigh “God- I’m getting old; 34”
Nationality:
“I was born and raised as a Canadian,” he said calmly once more. His arms finally uncrossed; and hands fell against the table.
Preferred Subject:
Philosophy
Describe the character: How do they look and act? What makes them unique and different? What are their plans for the future? Optionally, what is their past?
Rockwell Loke is a 34 year old man; typically with messier not overly combed or brushed hair. He’s only ever seen wearing a dress shirt; vest; and dress pants. He also tends to have a cane; due to previous injuries and wounds. Despite this he seems to be in amazing physical shape; being 6’5; and weighing in at 285 pounds. He also has three stab wounds. One on his lower stomach; middle of his back. And one on the left side of his chest; where his heart should be. (He was born with it on the right.)
Rockwell’s personality is a far more relaxed professor than most. He hates giving out detention and usually tries to give more warnings than most; hoping to not have it given out. He usually is calm; a little quieter. But he loves jokes and humor. He’s the type who’d be a friend for life if you got a good joke you share with him. He tends to also be a little silly; or goofy; getting into shena****ns and moments others would rarely find the courage to do.
Childhood
Rockwell had a pretty rough childhood, with his parents taking care of him, and being there for him. His father was a lawyer, and his mother a nurse. They weren’t overly wealthy by any means at all. None-the-less they took care of him, occasionally buying him a treat despite the financial problems. Rockwell loved them in return, making them the best gifts he could as a child. Which were pretty crappy however they still smiled and thanked him for his gifts. Eventually they got better financial health, so they adopted another kid, Rockwell’s little sister who meant the world to him. He taught her as much as he could despite their age gaps, and he’d attempt to help her with the simplest things if she needed. He's always retained a polite, loving, and caring demeanor. He has been called a gentleman among gentlemen before. He was a hard worker, helping out his dad and mom anyways he could, whether it was helping to sort papers, or sweeping around the house, even babysitting at times. He loved working, doing it as much as he could. Due to this his parents decided that he should have an allowance of $2 (CAD) a week, he saved it, and spent most of his allowance on his younger sister, giving her small gifts, or taking her out for ice-cream, as a treat. It'd often take him weeks of saving up to do this, but he wanted to see his sister smile. This led to him building a tighter bond with his younger sister. Early on in his life, seeds were planted for law enforcement however. Someone once tried to kidnap his younger sister, when an officer noticed, and acted quickly, and arrested the male quickly. He began to admire the police's work, but thought it'd be too dangerous at his time. He told his parents about his new found dream job, but they said he wouldn't want to be police, as it'd be too much work, and he'd get killed young. This added onto his belief of the dangers of being police, but that thought about being a police officer remained in the back of his mind, throughout his entire life. Even as an adult, he admires the police. Watching them carefully, thinking to himself every time he saw one.. "What if?"
"Hey, sis, why don't we do some homework?"
-(Rockwell Loke)
"Hey sis! Why don't we get some ice-cream? I've been saving up!"
(Rockwell Loke)
Teenage
In his teen years, he moved, from New Brunswick to England, in Oxford. He’d be picked on by the older college kids, but this didn’t ruin his spirit. He also at this time started working for a small company, working in a pharmacy, starting when he was only 14. His employer once said "Rockwell, I've seen you do the impossible before. You can damn well do it again." -(His employer) He’d enjoy life. As he got older he realised something, via people saying he’d be good at teaching, he decided that would be what he wanted to do when he got older, a teacher. He kept this dream through him all throughout his teenage years. He decided what subject he’d like to teach, and ended up deciding he’d rather be a professor, and he’d like to teach Ethics. He studied ethical stuff, and took courses over his free time, which helped him understand the ethical standpoint of various things. He loved Shakespeare, and ****yzing who was in the right and wrong in the plays. The first of which he did was Romeo And Juliet. He continued to teach his younger sister as much as he could, doing it all the time in his free time, teaching her everything he could and all he could. This is part of where he got some of his early teacher experience and why being a teacher has been recommended to him. He eventually felt like he should join the police force, rather than being a teacher. However he ignored it, till he got older. He thrived to help others, in whatever way he could. He wanted to help people as much as he could, so he pursued teaching. As he was learning teaching, he made many friends. Rockwell at this time was bold, and daring. He insulted another guy, this insult would lead to his best friend's death. Rockwell blamed himself for this, but decided to do better, which caused him to look into police work more so, despite his love for teaching. He'd move on to go to teaching however, but law enforcement remained an interest to him. He'd consider this job even more with this.
"If you're trying to hurt someone, you should punch harder."
-(Rockwell Loke.)
"I caused this... This is all my fault. I swear to you, to all of you, I will redeem myself. I am sorry, Jake Pierre. I hope when we meet again, you can forgive me, my friend."
-(Rockwell Loke)
Adulthood
As he went to university he decided he’ll teach at Oxford university, as an ethics professor. He’d have an advanced understanding of ethics, as he got a 96% as his final mark in ethics. He applied to Oxford university as an ethics professor and taught there until he turned 27. Eventually he quit there due to many reasons. He then moved back to New Brunswick where he taught at UNB until he was 33 he enjoyed teaching there, but eventually needed a break and quit there. He moved from Canada to Japan, to Karakura in Japan. He typically talked to his friends and gave them advice of every kind. Eventually he got the courage to go back to being a professor, and applied to Karakura High, once again for Ethics, as that is what he loves teaching. However despite his love for teaching, he always felt like he wasn't doing what he really wanted to do, and why he became a professor. Shortly after he became a professor, his younger sister was murdered whilst she was in Canada. The killers were never caught, they drowned her. This was the final real push of him wanting to join the police force, to help others. Eventually he decided that he wanted to help people, in a better way. To help protect them, and every citizen. He quit his job at Karakura College. Despite his age, he decided to go for a masters in criminal justice, at Oxford, whilst he taught there. He studied hard, and ended up receiving a 96% as his final score, and placed top in the school. He was admired by the other students, and even some teachers.
"Why hurt, or kill? What's the point? We all get angry at times, but the difference is.. I use it wisely, and use my anger to help. You. You use it to hurt others. That's the difference between us."
-(Rockwell Loke)
"Layla.. May your soul rest peacefully.. I forbid my tears for you, as you have had too much water. Good bye, sister."
-(Rockwell Loke.)
What is their outlook on students and their co-workers?
Students
Rockwell’s perspective on students is neutral. He doesn’t like them much; and he doesn’t hate them or dislike them really. It really depends on which students are in question. Though if he knows the student he tends to hold them at a much higher standard than students he doesn't know personally. He has his favorite students but they all get treated the same. Overall; his outlook on students; as long as he is in a good mood. When he’s not in a good mood; he tends to be more stern and strict with students. Though; still mostly relaxed.
Co-workers
Once again; Rockwell remains neutral towards his coworkers. He tends to judge them a bit; but mostly keeps to himself about his judgeyness. He observes them a lot too; taking note of what they do; how they do it; why they do it. Seeing if he might learn or retain some timbit of information that might prove useful.
What is their motivation for becoming a professor?:
Rockwell is currently re-applying to be a professor mostly for his children; and himself. Over the years of being unemployed Rockwell has grown bored; and uncomfortable. He’s not used to not being on the move or not working; and finds it irritating. He’d also like to get to know new people; and meet new faculty. See who’s keeping his kids (That don’t have the best reputation) in check. And to apologize for their- behavior. He also misses helping out students; and teaching them new things- especially about aristotle; or plato. Or having his debates with the students of Karakura.
He’s mostly bored with life; and tired of going to the mainland every other month. He’d rather meet new Karakurian people. Make some new friends; or potentially some new enemies, share some laughs. But also; of course; to earn some of that sweet sweet paycheck.
Roleplay Scenarios
A jock is ignoring your lesson and throwing paper balls at another student, what would your character do?
Firstly; he’d stare at the jock; loudly clearing his throat to try to grab their attention. If not He’d call out the students name, and offer a stern warning about class behavior and might even use that as an example for philosophy. If that failed he might move on to kicking the student out of his class; or even giving them a detention depending heavily on the students responses; and/or general behavior towards Rockwell. If he made an example out of it; he’d probably use it as a reference towards a philosopher’s view on something; and compare it to that, bringing the class into another debate.
A student doesn’t seem to understand the material, yet hasn’t requested help, what would your character do?
Rockwell would approach the student; crouching down to the student’s level and offer a helping hand; or just point at a question and say “Do you know the answer?” If the student provided it; he’d offer help for any other questions; if they didn’t get the question right. He’d explain to them the question and the answer. In a very- him way. He’d make it into some form of joke, or bit of a funny story; often relating to his past, or his life. Whether it’s a joke his dad once told him, or a story his Grampa shared.
When in the faculty lounge, how does your character act?
Rockwell would probably chit chat; and remain respectful to faculty. He’d also do a fair bit of grading there; opting to use the school’s computers rather than his phone. Or if he got annoyed he’d lay down in the faculty lounge for some peace and quiet. Oftentimes though; It’s to joke around with the other adults of the school, whether it’s a teacher, SLT, or a fellow professor. He’d find some form of conversation to start. Typically about something he noticed or saw outside of school.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas and one field trip idea related to your subject.
CLASS 1:
This is inspired off of the gameshow Jeopardy! Rockwell would bring in various prizes; and split the class into 4 groups! First place would be a reward sticker; after that it varies! He’d set up a board going from 100-1000; using multiples of 100. With four categories. Such as ‘Aristotle’ and ‘Herecalitus’. These categories would have questions or nearly complete sentences based around the category ‘Philosophy of Aristotle is called what?’ The team would then get to answer; if not correct it gets passed onto the next group. If no one gets it; no one gets the points it was worth. This class is designed to try to help students memorize what was taught. And retain some of the information! To help bring some fun; and enjoyment to the class. But also to encourage teamwork amongst the students, hopefully allowing the students to make some new friends amongst themselves. It’d also encourage studying, and attendance into the class in a fun way. I’d also inform the class of this the day before to allow a fair amount of time for them to get prepared for the actual class; and the game. Fairness is key, after all!
CLASS 2.
This idea is inspired by both my love for the idea; and from my actual Philosophy class I took. But we’d read an article; or a part of a story or statement of something, such as a Shakespeare quote; or a quote from some philosophical book; or something of the sorts. We’d discuss what the bit means, or any hidden meanings. Afterwards, we'd apply various philosophies to it, such as Platoism, or Heracleitus’ views on it. We’d discuss which philosophical view explains the quote the most, or what different philosophers would think of the statement or the quote. This would be done in a debate format. We’d also attach various theories to. If anyone makes an argument or statement throughout this class in which most of the class can happily agree with would earn a reward sticker. This class would do a few things. It’d help teach the flow of a debate, when to just talk or raise a hand; Argumentative skills. All of which would help in the future, depending on which career path they choose to follow, especially lawyers, judges, and governors. This could be any path involving arguments or dealing with people.
FIELD TRIP:
Town hall. Who better to talk to about arguments; annoying people, debates, logic, and philosophy than the people who unfortunately need to argue about it constantly? If there was a field trip to the town hall; I’d like to talk to a judge or a lawyer primarily about their job; what they do and how they do it. We’d also talk about the overall flow of a debate, how it works, and why it’s the way it is. I’d also ask if we could have a ‘mock’ trial with the judge/lawyer where they’re the judge. The students would be given a prompt; a tad bit of evidence, and a crime. They’d then be told to try to prove their client’s innocence or prove their guilt. Each ‘team’ would only have a short bit; like one argument per group, before the next two go up if there is a different bit of evidence/information and crime. The judge or lawyer would need to decide which group was more convincing and provide a verdict; whichever group wins gets bragging rights (within reason) over the other. This field trip would offer a new insight into the courthouse and town hall if any students are wanting to take that path, new views, and would teach them a bit about the overall history of debating, the law, and why it’s the way that it is. Furthermore they’d learn about the legal morals (One of the three main types of ethics)
