Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Teachers, through my experience, are deeply important to SchoolRP because they make the school function. Speaking from experience, when a teacher isnt online or no classes are being hosted playing on the server gets incredibly boring incredibly quickly. It chases people away, frankly. Teachers are the players that keep everyone else engaged, allowing students to progress. The school faculty are the motor behind many roleplay scenarios, giving students the opportunity to interact with eachother. Hand in hand with the roleplay scenarios, they also encourage character development for the student players, opening the barricade for a simple character personality to build more quirks, mannerisms, hobbies, and even beliefs.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes

In-Character Section

What's your character's full name?: Shu-Hui Ruan
What is your character's nationality?: Taiwanese
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Performing Arts (Music)

Describe your character:
A 43 year old woman born February 17, 1982 in Taipei, Taiwan. The complexion of her skin is a light brown, edging into a soft tan, her undertones being rather orange. Standing at about 5'8" and weighing in at around 148lbs, her proportions are rather lanky, her forearms slightly skinnier than her upper arm. The rest of her body seems to be of similar make, her torso moderately sized with a small divot in the center just below the ribcage. A thin and crooked scar adorns her right forearm stretching to her mid upper-arm, as if drawn by a child onto the skin, though it doesn't imply any real damage. Her fingers seem to be calloused, perhaps from training on many instruments, the joints now flexible and dexterous. Following most of her body, her legs are straight and rather consistent throughout other than the dip that her calf takes into the back of her knee joint. Her feet are placed outwards as if on the edge of an equal-angular triangle, noticeably duck footed. The woman's jawline is rather round with high cheekbones and one dimple on the right side of her face with deepset brown eyes. Her hair is long and dark, inbetween brown and black, cut in the style of a razor cut with face framing layers and a slight shag, her bangs being sideswept with a single treble clef hairclip.
She commonly wears a white button down with a black ribbon tied into a bow under the collar with black gemstone cufflinks. Overtop she wears a pleated piano key skirt that reaches to the waist until it flattens up to her diaphragm with black tights, the skirt ending about to her knee, finishing up with white leg warmers and black mary janes. Shu-Hui is quite soft spoken with careful hands, treating everyone she meets with utmost care as if they were porcelain, unless she knows they can stand a little roughousing. Every step she takes is gracefully crafted to avoid making a noise, after being within a musical field for so long it is only expected in her mind. Every action would be silent in nature

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Shu-Hui looks upon her students with the same mindset: that she is carving their success. She wishes to become what some could not have, striving to be the best role model she could wish for these students to receive. While she does help some students more than others, she doesn't necessarily believe in the idea of favorites. All she believes is that some students need just a bigger push to excell, which is one of her biggest flaws when speaking to students; She never stops pushing for students to 'reach their limit' which can be rather condescending to many.
Co-workers, on the other hand are a slightly less delicate matter to Shu-Hui. While she does look out for their best interest and tries to make them happy, she does understand that they are more emotionally mature. Her mind does not try to set a ton of boundaries in place on exactly how she should treat them, as she treats the faculty as she would treat any other adult. This entails the whiplash of switching from speaking to students, to speaking to coworkers. Occasionally she mixes the two which, rather annoyingly, causes her to speak to her co-workers as if they are significantly younger than they really are.

What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Being born in 1980's Taiwan, Shu-Hui was dropped directly in the final years of the White Terror period. Due to this, her education was rather stunted for the first seven years of her life. Extending from this, she also did not trust many adults, as they all seemed very eager to teach her wrong. She pulled all of her creativity and energy into learning instruments, resulting in her moving to Japan for more educational opportunities. When Shu-Hui began teaching in Karakura she made it her goal to be the antithesis of her upbringing. The motor driving her is to simply change children for the better instead of repeating the mistakes of many, including herself. She yearns to be an esteemed role model to every student she can, trying to push everyone to reach their maximum potential while also spreading what she loves, music.

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
As the tip of the marker finished its glide across the whiteboard before her, Shu-Hui turned around to face her class, hands neatly placed over her lap. Her gaze, watchful as it was sweeping, scanned the class before her as they worked on the new assignment. Suddenly, as if a dissonant chord had rung directly through her ear, she paused. Her eyes would land on a struggling student. Shu-Hui would grab a pencil, walking around the desks to avoid drawing attention to the student in need. Once she arrived, she leaned over their shoulder. "You seem rather confused... Could I help you?" Upon being presented with the issue, and depending on the practicality of mending it, Shu-Hui would lean her left arm onto the desk and begin troubleshooting. She would try to lead them on with something like a trail of breadcrumbs to give them the satisfaction of learning all by themselves and perhaps a reward. After this she would return to her desk. On the contrary, if the problem persisted and the student was simply lost, she would give them a step by step guide in detail. Her pace would be slow as she provided the guide, and once finished she would give the student a small pat on the shoulder. Before returning to her post behind her desk, she might provide a reward to the student, before returning to look for more complications.

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Being mid lesson, something along the lines of the chromatic scale, Shu-Hui was rather focused. While she was speaking, a students voice caught her attention. She drew to a quick pit stop in her lesson before turning to face the student from her desk. "It would be appreciated if you could save talking for the assignment, then you can absolutely ask for help or discuss! But please, now is not the time..." After the confrontation, she would resume her lesson. If the student were to act up a second time, a similar warning would be distributed. Upon the third slip, Shu-Hui was beginning to grow rather flustered. She would take the student outside or to a remote corner. Following this she would ask the following, "Why are you continuing interrupt my lecture?" After waiting for a response, and hopefully receiving one, she would end with a huff. "I'm sorry but if this continues you will be receiving a detention and you will be thrown from my class for the day." If the student is to continue interrupting, Shu-Hui would give them a detention slip and kick them out of the room. After her lecture concludes and the assignment begins she will make faculty aware of the disruptions. If it is to continue on in another class, begrudgingly Shu-Hui would file a complaint or report with the SLT.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
☆ Pitch Perfect! ☆
The words 'Pitch Perfect' would be written on the board to begin with. The instructions below might read along the lines of 'Higher voices to the left, Lower voices to the right'

After some warm ups, the game begins! It's a competition to see who can sing the Highest/Lowest. The higher voices would sing first, likely using a piano for pitch detection, and the top 3 singers will recieve a sticker (or if there are 4-5 they will receive stickers).
After that, the low voices will do the same, but with low notes. Rinse and repeat what the high voices did! Afterwards, students will fill out a paper along the lines of the following:

NAME:___________ DATE:____/____/____
- What was my highest/lowest note?
- Why couldn't I go higher/lower?
A.] It hurt B.] I didn't want to C.] Other...

■ Music Moths ! ■
Students will vote for one student to stand by the board.
This is based off of a similar game with lights on a stage!
There will be 7 notes around the classroom.
- A whole note
- A half note
- A quarter note
- An eighth note
- A sixteenth note
- A quarter rest
- An eighth rest
The job of the voted student will be to call out a note name. The other students will swarm the note they think is right. Those who are wrong are out, and sit down. This continues until theres one victor, who receives a sticker! (Once its down to 2-4 the first half to get there first qualify.)
Repeat until the end of class! If its a tie, give both stickers!

Students will be given paperwork afterward, in which they will be quizzed over a random selection of notes. This will determine half of their grade along with participation.
