Goodnight

Noot6

Level 12
You're no stranger to ominous noises or creatures, after all you spent you time in middle school at your grandfather's ranch. While there you took care of all the animals from the small kittens to the horses to the slimes in the basements. You had heard every sound every monster in a nearest 100 miles could make, yet tonight was different. The creaking of footsteps were off, more distant than you'd ever heard them. Louder than they'd ever been. Each step sent a chill down your spine as you could hear it pacing down the hall, going room to room, searching, hunting. You close your eyes hoping that it's all a nightmare but nothing changes, no matter how many times you fall asleep, it's always the same. The noise that it makes is distorted and low, almost like a bass tone. Each scream it makes cuts at your nerves, sending shock after shock through your veins. The sweat starts to form on your forehead as the footsteps come closer. As the creature makes it to your door, you can feel every inch of you screaming "run" but you're frozen in place. Nothing but the heavy breathing and screaming of the creature can be hear. In the pitch black darkness, you see only the light from the moon shining through your window. Suddenly there was just nothing, it felt like you had just woken up from a nightmare. You let out a heavy sigh of relief, believing it to be over, till you realize the stinging you had felt, from when you got a splinter in your finger earlier. The realization that this moment was real, drained all the color from your face. A pale shade of what you used to be as you wait for the inevitable, death by the unknown. You close your eyes once more, ready to embrace death. It pulls the sheets off of you, sending your sheets flying across the room, you feel the cold air on your legs and the chilling feeling of something watching you in the dark, it's enough to make your hairs stand up. You hear it once more approaching you, it's footsteps growing increasingly louder. Finally you see it in it's full glory, the white, gray and black creature. It lets out it's mighty roar "Noot Noot" before climbing into bed with you. The little penguin snuggles up close to you, pulling the blanket back over you both. Goodnight
