Help with grading up.

I was wondering if the playtime on a server increases, so does the player's grade level. If so, I am having an issue where each time I log on, my grade level resets. I have a total playtime of around 5 hours and I have just hit grade seven today, and also whenever I do log on each day. I may be confused or wrong about it, so if anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
