Backstory
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Hiraoka was just another city kid attending school waiting to graduate. His parents were apart of the working class and often worked long shifts with little pay to survive. Kawabuchi, his father, worked as a full-time taxi driver and Tokuda, his mother, had a part-time job as a convenience store clerk. The remainder of what free time Tokuda had was spent taking care of their home and her children. Kai, Hiraoka's little sister, was the person closest to him since their parents were constantly working and he swore to never allow anybody to hurt her in any way. They lived in Yanaka (Taito Ward, Tokyo), one of the few places in Tokyo to escape the fires and bombing of World War II. In terms of livelihood, Yanaka was one of the worst places to live. At night, most of the stores would close at 8 p.m, choices for dining out would be limited, and on weekends, sizeable crowds would be difficult and stressful to navigate through. With a large number of graves in the vicinity, a lot of the streets are dimly lit, making it an intimidating place to walk through when the moon is out. Hiraoka took advantage of this fact. At night, he would sneak out of home with a kitchen knife in hand and a used t-shirt wrapped around his head, covering everything but his eyes. He would hide in the shadows, typically in an alleyway and jump out at anybody unlucky enough to walk by with a purse or wallet. He'd take their phone first, as that was key to ensuring they wouldn't immediately be able to report him to the police afterward. He'd then follow with their money and any valuable possessions they had on them. Once he was done with these hold-ups, he'd quickly make his way home, making sure to take any shortcuts that would block anyone's view of him on the way. He'd take off the mask and wear the shirt over his and have the knife, phone, and money hidden in between the two shirts. He'd walk into his room and lay out the items he brought and received from the score. Later on in the night, he'd leave some money under his sister's bed and on the kitchen counter for either of his parents to take. It was perfect, a simple scheme that could help his family finances. At least, that was the case before he got caught. But how could that be? Hiraoka wasn't stupid, he had this all planned out! There was no way for anybody to figure out who he was except for... the way he spoke. "Damn it! How'd I miss that?" See, Hiraoka had a distinct tone and voice. The way he would speak to others was unique and easily identifiable. So connecting the robberies to him wasn't too complicated. One of his victims had overheard his voice while he was out and about but instead of reporting Hiraoka to the police, he decided to take matters into his own hands. The victim was an infamous man outside of Yanaka visiting his little brother and wasn't going to let Hiraoka get off easily. He followed Hiraoka home and waited until he went inside. The man politely knocked on the door, being answered by Kawabuchi. He asked to speak with Hiraoka's parents and informed them of what he did. Hiraoka's victim gave him two options: "Stay in Yanaka to be 'handled' by my business partners or leave for good and rid yourself of the burden of staying." Kawabuchi and Tokuda had no hesitation in picking for him. Tokuda's parents had a home in Karakura and so the two decided to send Hiraoka there. This was his chance at a fresh start. He couldn't mess this up. He lived with his grandparents for two years before they passed, forcing him into homelessness, leading us to where his story truly begins...

Nice read, the music you had playing in the background added some atmosphere. However it was perhaps a bit too calm for the backstory in mind, and I'm a bit sad your character didn't have more traditional Japanese themes around him. With the music in mind, as it's played on traditional Japanese instruments.

Indeed, now that you mention it, it is a little unfitting for the backstory and character. Thankfully, it sounds nice though and like you said, added some atmosphere. I’ll definitely be taking this into account for the next time I create a character biography. Thank you!
