Character Backstory
October 3rd, 1998
Sounds of blaring horns and rain drops pelting on the window, followed by the air being laced with the smells, emitted from the authentic cooked foods, that spoke of a consoling aura. Soon, adding more reminiscence to this memory, the sounds of doctors and nurses advising Koharu to keep calm and take deep breaths. All she could focus on was these sounds, all muffled into one obnoxious ringing noise in her ears. On this drizzly afternoon came the birth of a newborn baby known as Hotaka Mastuo, named after his uncle. Koharu, holding her baby in her arms, made her realize that her life is now committed to another life. She took her time to recover after the birth of her newborn, and soon enough she was feeling better. Soon after the hard rain turned into a light drizzle over the streets of Tokyo, Koharu left the hospital with her delicate newborn in her arms. When she arrived home from the hospital, she cooked herself some light food after putting the baby in a crib that she had previously received from her brother weeks before the birth. Not only was Koharu feeling extremely contented after the birth of her child, but she was also feeling very worried by the fact that she will have a hard time supporting her and her child. She's haunted that she's a single mother raising a child that she originally never intended to have.
April 14th, 2002
"Hotaka, turn down the television please." his mother would say constantly. Every night after work, Hotaka's mother would take a long nap after cooking her son dinner. Since he didn't have his mother to entertain him, he would constantly have to find things to do. Hotaka loved watching TV. He would jump around and run around the apartment in excitement for his favorite magic show to come on. One night after Koharu came home from work, Hotaka was watching TV. His mother had been exhausted from work that night and only wanted to rest. As Koharu was cooking ramen that night, Hotaka was running around the house with his toys. His mother was beginning to get extremely irritated, enough to make her lash out on her own child. Koharu poured some of the boiling water from her cooking into a cop, splashing it on Hotaka in hopes of making him settle down. This only made things worse, causing Hotaka to scream and cry due to the pain his own mother had inflicted on him. Due to the injury, Hotaka suffered from a second degree burn on parts of his face. These marks are still present today.
