What is your discord name & tag?:

Previous bans:

I can't say I have a clean or unproblematic record because that'd frankly be a lie, although I've worked diligently to maintain a cleaner record for myself. Almost all of my bans/punishments are from one to two years ago and I'm completely open to elaborating further in DMs

My first ban was in February of 2021 for inappropriate DMs, granted I provided proof to the admin at the time that it was fabricated. I was still required to appeal through their DMs, which I did two months later - I don't have access to the discord account that this occurred on because it was hacked and disabled since then.

My most recent ban was 7 months ago, I don't remember the exact date, but it was a medium offence for toxicity and I didn't appeal the ban. At the time, I wasn’t thinking about the consequences of my actions and words, which was greatly foolish of me.

I've worked to improve myself and my general reputation since, and I’ve been careful to not repeat the same mistakes twice, even in private. I take complete accountability for my poor choices of the past and can ensure that it will never happen again, however I do completely understand if it's still too soon.

Describe your activity on the server:

I joined the server in July of 2020 with some on and off periods - mostly on. I log on everyday for the most part - the times vary and it's heavily reliant on what I have planned for throughout the day, but I don’t typically go long periods without logging on. The only part of my day that somewhat affects my time spent on the server is both my job and my homeschooling, but even then, they don’t majorly impact my activity nor would they ever. If I were to presently rate my own activity on a scale from one to ten, I’d give myself a solid 8/10 - It's also notable that I mostly take up hours towards 8pm EST and later.

I made the account ikilledjay in April of 2022, but I’ve used it hardly to not at all, so the playtime on it is very little. This will, of course, change drastically if I’m accepted into the faction.

What is your timezone?:
EST

What experiences do you have with roleplay?:

I first started roleplaying around 2017 with a preference for fantasy, since fiction is one of my favorite genres for reading. As I got older, I took a liking to realistic roleplays and I stuck to it as I was introduced to Minecraft roleplay servers through YouTube, which is how I came to SRP in the first place in late 2020. Currently, most of my detail roleplay goes towards romance RP and rivalry. I’ve been on the high school female volleyball team for over a year, originally having joined in October 2021, and the first team I ever joined was high school female basketball in mid 2020, leaving early 2021. I was also in the Journalist club for roughly 6 months. While I was in the basketball team, we participated in rivalry and general drama RP on a much larger scale than I do at the present time.
I put a great deal of effort into finding new roleplay scenarios, opportunities, and try to make it as equally fun for others as it is for myself, although options are relatively limited at the moment.

What is your motivation for applying?:

Applying for EMS has been something that has hovered over my thoughts for a while, but I never quite had the motivation due to the semi recentness of my ban. Now, since roughly seven months have passed since my last one, I figured I could give it a shot.

I’m looking to join EMS because it's a faction I can genuinely see myself flourishing in, both within the social and roleplay aspect of it; detailRP has always been something I've enjoyed, but doing so with a more purposeful meaning behind it is something I've also wanted to do for a while now. This faction has always been one that I’ve admired from an outsider’s perspective - how close all the members seem and their sense of humor, yet the attention to detail when it comes to roleplay. Despite the fact that I don’t have much experience when it comes to medical RP, I’m not entirely clueless to various different operations and the details of them or the duties that fall to each respective department. I have a great capacity for learning and would love to expand my knowledge of it by all means. I want to further my roleplay experiences with new and different scenarios, opportunities, and truly contribute to something.

Which role are you applying for?
(Surgeon, Doctor, Psychiatrist):
Doctor

What knowledge do you have of Hospital Work?:

Generally speaking, the main function of a medical organisation, such as a hospital, is to provide healthcare to the population, as well as being a centre of training for health workers. Hospitals serve as a beacon for safety, a vital part of society as a whole. Any discrimination, bias, or unfair treatment isn’t permitted and is punishable, the only exception being if the person is blacklisted; if the person’s character is blacklisted, they’re allowed to come for treatment. Although depending on the reasoning of their blacklist, it may also be SkipRP’d, especially if the blacklist is due to OOC reasons. Again, it really varies. It should be noted that hospital staff are not allowed to disclose their patients’ conditions to others, not even their own co-workers or outside of work, for the sake of privacy and confidentiality. There are specific criteria and knowledge gauges that hospital workers must fully grasp in order to adequately give the best care that they can to their patients, which is gone over through training.

I have vaster OOC knowledge than I do when it comes to IC, but I’m always willing to learn. I have a convenient notes app I can use, as well.

Hospital roles have changed a lot since I’ve joined SRP, so I do apologise if I’m misinformed, though I’ll list them as I know. The hospital is separated into three main departments and multiple positions that everyone is given a fair opportunity to work for based on their work ethic, reputation, and other factors.

Director
The director is in charge of the faction as a whole and can manage things as they please. They're the ones that make the final decisions around the hospital.

Clinical Manager
Clinical managers are essentially the director’s assistants, unspecific to their department, and provide direct aid to the hospital director. They help and guide others as needed, no matter how tedious the problem.

Clinical Lead
Clinical leads are specified to departments, as opposed to a clinical manager. They consult the clinical managers when they’re in need of assistance. Clinical leads consist of:

  1. Clinical Lead for Doctors : They’re responsible for training new hires and taking the lead for major situations that require order
  2. Clinical Lead for Surgeons : For surgeons, they step in and make decisions where needed, especially when it comes to performing surgery
  3. Clinical Lead for Psychiatrists : They train and study with their fellow psychiatrists on medication, diagnosis, and other factors pertaining to one’s mental health. They take the lead of new psychiatrists and attending psychiatrists.

Attending
When trainees complete their training and pass the exam specific to their department, they’re moved on to being an attending surgeon, psychiatrist, or doctor. They’re allowed to go off duty after this point, unless informed otherwise.

Trainee
Trainees are the newcomers to the hospital workers and undergo training as deemed required by their clinical lead. Training can last up to three weeks or longer, heavily depending on what their clinical lead believes is the best course of action for them, gradually leading up to their exam.

Interns
Interns, typically college students, help at the hospital and learn vastly about the department they applied to the internship for.

Surgeon
Surgical work is very tedious in nature, as they perform the slightly more detailed and complicated medical procedures based on the level of emergency. As the name implies, surgeons do open body anatomy, edits in tissue and bones, and also more simplistic tasks, such as morgue work, etc. When help is needed, they can ask for other surgeons to aid them or any doctors on duty.

Doctor
Doctors are specialised in examinations, testing, identifying, and diagnosing their patients to prescribe the correct medication to them or to put in a request based on what their treatment calls for. Doctors can do check-ups and things such as castings, X-rays, CT scans, attaching prosthetics excluding eyes, morgue, and various other specified activities. They issue requests for surgeries when the treatment is necessary, as well as request assistance from a psychiatrist if a patient is mentally unstable, e.g. if they’re hysterical or having a panic attack. While doctors can perform surgeries, they have to be explicitly trained to do so for the specific type of surgery. Doctors also can't prescribe the same medications that a psychiatrist can; this includes refilling prescriptions that were assigned by a psych.

Psychiatrist
Psychiatrists are in charge of the mental aspect of a person’s wellbeing. Psychiatrists work on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders alongside ensuring a safe environment for those that come in to see them. Psychiatrists serve a supporting role, helping people work through their problems and finding a solution, whether through advice, medication, or other means of treatment to secure their psychological wellbeing. Psychiatrists can be called on when a patient is unstable, or when bad news need to be broken to them. They are not allowed to have physical contact of any form with their patients, even if they are crying. Psychiatrists aren't allowed to sell/prescribe the same medications or items as a doctor or a surgeon, including crutches, canes, eye patches, etc.

-

Beyond the hospital hierarchy, there are codes used for faster means of communication. I’m unsure if the hospital faction still uses these or not, but I’ll list my knowledge of them in case. I’m also aware that there are numerical codes, though I don’t remember the specifics.

Code Red
Code Red signals that there's a fire within the building, meaning the hospital must be evacuated by all occupants

Code Orange
Code Orange is used when there is a hazardous spill. The KPD should always be alerted when this occurs

Code Yellow
Code yellow is typically used to address a bomb threat, and can be used to signal other threats to the hospital and the patients. They are to contact the KPD if it’s seen as necessary

Code Green
Code green is alerted when the building requires evacuation as a result of internal threats like fires, chemicals, and other means of unsafety. Hospital staff are to lead patients outside of the building with caution

Code Blue
Code blue is used when there is a medical emergency threatening the life of a patient. It is often used for issues related to the patient's cardiovascular system

Code Purple
Code purple indicates an abduction or hostage situation. KPD should be contacted when this occurs

Code Pink
Code pink is important for emergencies related to pediatric health

Code Brown
Code brown signals severe weather, in which hospital staff must ensure patients safety, whether through evacuation or other means

Code White
Code white is used in the case that a patient is aggressive. Once this occurs, hospital workers must ensure patient safety and the safety of fellow staff

Do you acknowledge that you’re subject to being demoted at any given time if accepted?
Yes, I’ll make no complaint if this is to happen

Do you acknowledge that by applying for this role, you agree to be 100% dedicated to the Hospital Staff role?
Absolutely

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
Yes and this will never become an issue if I’m accepted

Do you acknowledge that you are NOT to take things OOCly when dealing with training & situations?
Yes, of course

Backstory:
December 12, 1985. .

A cold winter day, in fact the coldest of the year. - A baby girl was born into a wealthy, Romanian family, except with a twist. Nicolae Dragomir was the baby of an extended affair inside the family. Her father, Dracul Dragomir, often cheated on his wife, Ihrin Dragomir. This was common within the family, as the men dominated, and frequently cheated on their wives. Dracul cheated with one of his maids at the time, Mèng yáo Kang, resulting in the birth of Nicolae Dragomir.

Growing up a mixed child, Nicolae’s older sister, Daciana, often picked on her - calling her the ‘misfortunate one’, for being birthed into an affair. Daciana handed over her chores, school work, and punishments, threatening Nicolae with a lie. This happened ever since she was old enough to speak. The youngest of the three, Ladinas, kept to himself, but occasionally checked on Nicolae’s well-being. Mèng yáo was treated poorly too.. Since, Nicolae WAS her child, after all.

Nicolae went to a private school for half her childhood. She didn’t connect with the other kids, because her interests drove her away from the crowd. Ever since she was a little girl, the studies of history, and the wonders of the human body fascinated her - so she’d often shove her nose into a book of sorts. What little friends she did have, however, Nicolae cherished deeply. The first and only time she ever ‘felt alive’, was at school, with her classmates. Up until the age of 13, Nicolae was a quiet, lonely girl with a few friends. .

That was, until. .

Close to her 14th birthday, the Dragomir family was called to a meeting of sorts - Nicolae’s birth mother, Mèng yáo, was being banished from the land. Being Nicolae’s mother, Mèng yáo had no choice but to take the kid with her, even if they shared little to no resemblance. The real reasoning behind the incident is unknown, but it was believed that Mèng yáo stole from the property. In order to fend for herself, as well as the only family she had. - Nicolae and her mother were kicked to the streets - separated from one another.. Mèng yáo fled to Beijing, China, leaving Nicolae to strive on her own.

Left alone with no one by her side, Nicolae struggled to survive - often thriving off of crumbs and trash left aside. She didn’t go to school, she didn’t visit her ‘friends’. . She was truly alone. Months had passed, and letters were exchanged. On a brighter, more vibrant day of the year, a letter had come in the mail directed to Nicolae; inside of it - a ticket to Beijing stapled to a postcard, and a wad of money. It didn’t have a return address, and it was sent anonymously. . But, Nicolae believed it to be her mother. She took up the offer, and in less than 2 weeks, her plane to Beijing landed at 1:45 A.M.

Upon arriving at the airport - nothing particular stood out, other than the lifeless shells of the humans around her. Something drew her attention.. Out of the corner of her eye, her eyes met with a stranger that seemed far more familiar than intended. A relative of Mèng yáo, perhaps? - Nicolae greeted the woman, who, upon request, brought her along with her. The pair chatted their way through the walls of the airport, stopping along the way to point out ridiculous tourist attractions. Time passed, and it was ready for them to leave. . Together? The women took Nicolae to a more secluded, quiet part of the busy city, where she’d end up meeting her mother.

The family reunion was full of sorrow, guilt, as Mèng yáo felt the remorse of leaving her daughter for her own well-being, but Nicolae forgave her, and turned a new page…

A year had passed and Nicolae’s life was on track again - She changed her identity, or atleast what she was able to, going by a new given name, as well as her mothers maiden name. Rongsu Kang was reborn into a more defined, prestigious woman, with a more cold, sinister personality. . And she was only 16. She was learning Mandarin around this time, as well as attending a private school. By now, she had an interest in hospital care, as well as History, going as far as to study the two prior to college.

A few more boring years had passed, and soon, she was preparing her first major; a PhD in Cardiology. Right around this time, she was caring for a baby; Zhengqiu Kang. The father of the kid was nowhere to be seen however, leaving Nicolae a single mother. This didn’t stop Nicolae from loving her daughter and giving her the world, or trying to - It was a struggle, but she did it. For Zhengqiu’s sake.

As time went on, Nicolae spent less and less time at home, so she could work and make money for her daughter. It was a struggle, she knew she was neglecting her child of the life and parental love that she deserved… So, Nicolae sent Zhengqiu to live with her maternal grandparents after making the appropriate arrangements. It destroyed Nicolae from the inside out to say goodbye to her only daughter. After doing so, she threw herself deeper into her scientific studies and medical work, eventually accomplishing a masters in Pathology only years after getting her PhD.

To celebrate Nicolae’s new masters in Pathology, she decided to treat herself to a bar. It should’ve been the best night of her life, but only a few drinks in and she was flushed in the face, slurring, and the guilt of what she did to Zhengqiu settled in tenfold. As the night went on, she ended up speaking to a man by the name of Teruyoshi Mizoroge - They exchanged numbers, even a quick kiss, but then never heard from him again. The memory of him irked Nicolae, and it still does, but she knows life has to go on nevertheless.

SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY
What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?

She chose to specialise in cardiology and pathology, with pharmacology on the side.

Nicolae chose to specialise in pathology to develop a better understanding of diseases and the root cause of them, that way she is able to actively do more to prevent them as her spectrum of knowledge expands. On the other hand, she went to focus in cardiology due to heart conditions being a common ailment passed down through the women of her family. She has an SVT, alongside ventricular tachycardia as well, which she inherited from her birth mother.

Pharmacology was more of a "side task,” though equally as important. Being able to experiment with different drugs and specialised medications was invigorating for Nicolae, making pharmacology one of her favourite subjects, especially as it helped to satisfy her desire for scientific discovery.

What medical residencies did your character take after medical school?

Nicolae instantly threw herself into applying for various jobs within the medical field all throughout Beijing, China, having saved up just enough money to comfortably move wherever she was accepted first. Luckily, she was accepted into her dream place - China-Japan Friendship Hospital, conveniently located in Beijing. The experience opened many medical career paths for Nicolae.

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?

Yes, she dedicated five years of her life to being a pharmacologist, then spent three years as a cardiologist.

Has your character completed any additional schooling?

After graduating, Nicolae only took courses provided by the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, so no.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE
Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique?

Nicolae is a kempt, average sized woman at 5’5 and decently muscular, while also a little plus-sized. Due to being a complete germaphobe, she avoids unnecessary contact with others; her hands always being adorned with tight fitting gloves, medical ones or her preferred black gloves. The top left half of her face is scorched and scarred, disguised underneath her dishevelled fringe. The scar seems healed, of course, but not completely. A thick Romanian accent is also notable, commending her deep voice whenever she speaks.

Despite being an appearingly distant woman, Nicolae is not heartless, but the way she peers at others with a cautious glare within her cold eyes may make that hard to believe. One moment, you'll believe you've figured her out, only to question who she really is shortly after. Maybe it'd be wise to get to know her a bit more, she may prove to be a valuable friend. As she avoids distinction, it may be tricky to fully grasp the type of person she is. Her personality is boundless and she doesn't want to be confined to a certain set of traits from anyone's perspective.

Nicolae is primarily in-ward facing. She's not self-absorbed, no, she’s absorbed within herself; Everything she feels, what she thinks, it all remains inside her head, never spoken aloud. Her independence is her most acknowledgeable feature off first glance. Practical knowledge is her modus operandi and her materialism is an extension of her pursuit for stability. Even though she’s always subconsciously braced for the worst, she has a preference for the predictable - Her choice is always for consistency over chaos, but for things to remain calm and steady in the medical field is an unrealistic expectation, which she’s perfectly aware of. She’s like a tireless machine, inevitably overcoming every obstacle that’s in her way. While she may appear to take easily to change, that may not be the whole truth underneath her cement surface. Change threatens Nicolae’s solidity and it scares her to her core.

How does your character act on and off duty?

Nicolae is generally aloof, but she does come off a lot more indifferent than what she actually is. She cares deeply for each of her patients and she sincerely wants to give them nothing short of the best medical care that she can provide.. Yet, something about her made it hard for her to show.

On duty, she’s not particularly social, but not to the point that she’ll blatantly ignore or disregard her coworkers, she’ll always have their back and pick up where they slack. Nicolae sees them as a family, a team, since that is what they are. It’s not that she’s uptight, she can just be very socially awkward at times - Sometimes, not knowing what to say, she'll just look away. On the other hand, when taking care of a patient, Nicolae will often ask them questions about themselves while she focuses on working, to avoid them getting too deep into thought or to sway them from their worries, fears, etc, though that doesn’t work for everyone. She'll work in silence at other times.

Whenever Nicolae goes off duty, she spends her time walking around or at home with her cats and a good book. For the most part, she fills her free time with reading, studying advanced anatomy, physics, organic chemistry, and various other topics. Her personality doesn’t differ much between being on and off duty; the only possible difference is her making rather facetious comments when she’s off of work.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?

Although Nicolae personally prefers solitude, she’s not opposed to teamwork or cooperating with others. Working with a team is actually when she thrives the most. She can easily follow the lead of others, just as easily as she can make decisions or propose options when needed; she’s not a control freak nor does she doubt her co-workers' competence, but she doesn’t easily rely on others for certain matters.

What plans does your character have for the future?

Nicolae doesn't believe in living in the present or "figuring it out as she goes." She can't be comfortable in the present without a bulletproof plan. She even has a backup plan for her backup plans. Anything she could think of, she already has.

If you ask Nicolae where she sees herself in ten years, she'll say as a successful doctor with a stable life and steady income. She wants to provide for her daughter, even if she has to do so from a distance. She absolutely refuses to ever be in a position where she's without what she needs or her daughter can't have what she wants. Her end goal is to be able to see her daughter, Zhengqiu, living a full life, never once in need or struggling. Nonetheless, while she's still living, Nicolae desperately wants to make new discoveries, create cures, and new diagnoses - She doesn't want to be famous, but she wants to make a great change in the world. All of her plans point to doing nothing less than such.

How is your character perceived by others? How does it contrast with their perception of themself?

Nicolae sees herself as a rational, realistic person. While she thinks she's merely telling people the truth and what's factual, it can be interpreted as a lot more cruel. It's not her intention by any means, her words just never correspond with the way she truly feels. Maybe it has to do with her having a remarkably deep voice? Who actually knows.

She speaks with such bolstering confidence only because she loathes sounding as if she doesn't know what she's talking about, but by doing so, she may genuinely convince the people around her that she has no empathy. When she's confronted with it, she gets quite flustered and won’t really know what the right thing to say is - Sometimes, she might not care if she's convinced that what she said was the honest truth, but she will still apologise nevertheless. Her logic tells her that the truth cannot do any harm to anyone... Which depends from situation to situation.

Behind Nicolae's ruthless words, she actually doubts herself quite often. She knows she’s smart, yet she has a hard time believing that anything she does is ever enough, so she constantly overexerts herself while on the job and pushes to learn something new everyday. Her thirst for knowledge can never quite be satiated.
