What's your suggestion?:
The following changes to be made to the inventory rollback system:
1. Extend the history of inventories for backups.
Messages in the help channel reveal that logging in more than 10 times while waiting for an inventory rollback prevents your eligibility of receiving a rollback. This prevents players from logging on to enjoy the server, and indirectly punishes players for committing to factions. This includes mandatory reasons for players to log on: Sports practices, club meetings, faction quota, etc. Following through with your commitment to any of these will lead to a lesser chance of retrieving your items.
By extending the max amount of logins, players will be able to enjoy the server without being punished for simply logging on.
2. Allow admins to enact inventory rollbacks.
By extending the permission to more staff members, it allows the wait time to significantly decrease by extending the permissions to more than a small group of people.
From personal experience:
A previous request for an inventory rollback took 29 days.
My current wait for an inventory rollback has elapsed 8 days so far.
That's roughly a month of ensuring not to log in more than 10 times. (It is also important to take into consideration minor reasons to relog: Adjusting wardrobes, crashing, forced server restarts.)
Why are rollbacks important?
Based on past messages in the help channel, we can see that some items are irrecoverable without the help of an inventory rollback: Vehicle upgrades, event items, books, etc.
Logging on 10+ times while waiting for a rollback causes some of these to be lost forever, with no way of recovering the lost value (e.g., vehicle upgrades are impossible to get compensation for in this scenario).
For some high-value items, it is impossible to retrieve them without an inventory rollback (as opposed to a staff member spawning it back in).
What's the urgency?
Considering the average wait time needed for inventory rollbacks, players are forced into harsh restrictions on enjoying the server. Furthermore, lost inventories are typically out of the experiencing players' control (most commonly bugs with the sports plugins).
How will this benefit the server and community?:
Allow players to enjoy SchoolRP without being punished for something out of their control.
