I'd say it's a combination, writing taking protagonism and putting performance in the background. Roleplay games work with the cards they are dealt. FiveM (an example of this) is a roleplay in which text is almost non-existent, used only when doing /me, /it or /descs. The same goes with GMod or Arma 3, for example. SchoolRP is heavily involved with writing, mainly because of no voice chat (Thank God). For me at least, roleplay SHOULD be more about actions than text. I came here to play, not to read a book (I love DetailRP, but if a simple convo starts at 3:00 pm and ends at 8:00 with almost nothing being said, then I've got an issue). But yeah, SRP is way too high on the writing side, and way too low on performance.
