List your timezone and country:

Describe your activity:
First off, I would like to explain my timezone which can look concerning. But rest assured, due to my schedule, I wake up at 5 PM American time and can play until midnight, usually.

Recently, my activity on this server has been the most throughout my year and a half of playing on the server. I'm able to find time daily to get on and play. Even if I'm not on, I'm still available on discord where I would join the game when my friends ask me to.

I have been mainly focusing on Jock RP, playing as my family character that is related to my friends' character - a jock family! Since there's not been much to do with criminal roleplay which I initially prioritized. I'm still active in gang roleplay as co-lead of Parabellum but I'll be frank, I have recently decreased activity due to there not being much to do.

So, with my reporter application, I'm hoping to fix that problem of mine!
Also to note, I have power outages from 5 PM to 9 PM or 9 PM to 1 AM EST, varying on the day. (If it’s 5-9 today, it’s 9-1 tomorrow. Repeat)

What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
Journalism is something that I’m passionate about in life. In the age of mass propaganda, my respect for journalists such as Amy Goodman outweighs that of any other profession - unapologetically. Thus, I would like to put myself in their shoes, to bear that responsibility that the people who I see as heroes do.

Other than that, regarding more towards the server itself is bringing back the very first character I played as, my main character who has been shelved.

This character, Riyuki Hattori, has been the one I've built a plethora of roleplay and lore in the past year. I lost motivation to play her due to my 4 month long break away from SRP, as well as me wanting to focus on other characters. Ever since then, I didn't have much of a reason to play her anymore.

Fast forward a few months and the Hattori family's activity skyrocketed and the siblings Riyuki has are now adults. So bringing her into the Reporter faction is a perfect way to get back into a lot of roleplay, especially when she has a strong history with the town and its people.

My final biggest motivation is, of course, finding new friends. I absolutely dislike just joining a group/faction just to do a certain job and earn money. When I join something, I want to get to know and befriend the people I'm in said group/faction with! While I already have a group of friends, it's always nice to find and interact with new people.

This of course is also heavily connected with my first and main motivation. I want my character coming back to town to have new people who I can roleplay with, playing as her.

Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
I’ve had plenty of experiences with writing and have been close with it for a while now. Due to English being my second language, I was enrolled into a private tuition specifically for it. It was something I grew interested in, especially growing up, where I would even take exams on the English First Language subject.
While there is nothing of note professionally, I am currently working towards going abroad for an English major.

In my spare time, plenty of fiction, journals, and essays have been written down by me throughout the years. From it being mediocre to now respectable, I am proud of my growth and evolution.

However, I must admit that I’m not one to pick up too much on literature but rather improve in my own manner and pace through adaptation. Thus, I know not much - though I have still read great works - George Orwell’s 1984 and Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations to name a few. Moving onward, I aim to expand my knowledge, especially when I’m in college.

Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
Absolutely; rules are set boundaries and I always bear them in mind!

Why should we accept you over others?:
I believe that I’m a player who has been involved with quite a lot of roleplay to the point where I can say that I’ll be able to contribute more storylines and general roleplay to the Reporter Faction with the character that I’ll be using.
It is almost a guarantee that a narrative will flourish when characters have connections - which is exactly what I can offer with mine. Whether it be family, friends, rivals, or even enemies; along with anything else in between (family dramaaa~)

I’m also one to get to know and befriend everyone, or at least attempt to, whenever joining a new group so I’m sure I’ll be able to offer good vibes for the faction. Just hanging out with co-workers, keeping in touch, and just bonding in general. It isn’t necessarily unique but I believe that it should still be mentioned since.. I think I have a good and friendly influence on people!

Other than having the ability to be involved with those in the Reporter faction through roleplay potential, I believe my writing and ideas will be of value. There are many other good writers out there so I won’t flaunt my skills in it though I believe I’ll be able to bring up and contribute fresh ideas as well as, of course, dedication with my passion in mind.

My goal here is not only for me to find joy in involving myself in the faction but to bring joy for everyone involved with the faction itself!

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
Definitely, biases stain the quality of reports in my personal opinion.

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
I’ll make time and fully live up to expectations. I only join knowing that I’m able to uphold the quota required.

Summarize what you imagine work as a reporter is:
Work as a reporter would be seeking information to then relay it back to the community - whether it be about uncovering truths or presenting a simple topic. In a small town like Karakura, a reporter’s job as I see it goes beyond big headlines for festivals as highlights for everyday life events and the voices of people are almost as important. It’s about making people heard, keeping them informed. And in order for a reporter to be the one who showcases these, they should in turn be attuned with the community itself, working together with them!

IC (In-Character) Information:
Treat this section like it is your own character answering it

Full Name:
The composed, unbothered expression of the Hattori cracked. Now a slight smirk on her face. It remained for a moment

"The name is Riyuki Hattori."

Her tone came out smooth, almost arrogant - with the emphasis on her family name

"Matriarch of the Hattori family."

She firmly added, no longer flaunting but prideful - with a hint of strange desperation. The flamboyant demeanor that escaped was no more

Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
She simply chuckled at the question, amused. A small devilish smile appeared as she reminisced. One hand slowly rose halfway in the air to lazily fan herself

"Oh my, a nickname? I have plenty. Although, Riy would be what I am most known as; in terms of nicknames."

In a sudden shift, gloom overcame her. Silence crept up her surroundings as time went on, as she froze for a few seconds

"You may address me as Miss, Hattori..."

The words from her were monotone, perhaps exhausted. It was said swiftly, as though she didn't want to say it at all

Current Age (25+):
Adjusting her seat from the previous interaction, she abruptly stopped. What followed soon after was an inquisitive raise of her brow - judgemental even "Hm, what a question..." Her eyes remained on the interviewer, her piercing gaze akin to a glare

"I am in my early 30s. Very early 30s."

A straight-forward smile formed. One that could be deemed sincere. Though with enough perception, the gesture was far from it. Silence once again filled the room... This time, a bit longer... Too long... It was getting quite uncomfortabl- Until! The Hattori cleared her throat.

"Fine, be careful of what you do with the information. I'm 33 years of age, born in 1991, 28th of October to be specific."

With one flip of her hair, she shut her eyelids, refusing to look at the person in front any longer - slightly offended

Past job/work experience:
The Hattori’s gaze slowly fell to the floor while she recalled her memory. She gently bit the inside of her teeth, seemingly getting lost before she looked back at the interviewer

“I worked as an intern for the Governor back at my hometown before I was a Governor in Karakura here for a short while. One that didn’t last because, well…”

As she darted her eyes to the side, an evident frown appeared on her face. Her expression was now grim, fist tightly clenched on the table. Finally, with one deep inhale, she gave a forced smile

It’s a long story. But I went back to Tokyo with my daughter, working as a freelance journalist before landing an office job regarding it. Now here I am, back at this rott- I mean familiar, town.”

Degree/qualifications:
Scanning the documents presented on the table, her brows slightly furrowed

“While my Masters in Political Science and my Bachelor’s in Sociology are very.. uncharacteristic for this job, I did manage to pick up a Diploma in Journalism during my time working.”

Then of course, she took the very diploma out from her purse. A cheeky surprise considering how all the other documents were presented

“I assume that Sociology would help, as well as my portfolio from my time in Tokyo.”

Nationality and born location:
She let her finger graze along her jaw with a smirk. One leg crossed above the other, she sat upright, elegantly.

“You may have noticed my Russian features, but rest assured that I’m only half. I was born here in Japan - specifically Takamatsu. Same hometown on the southern shores as my mother.”

Phone Number:
A business card slid across the table, two of the Hattori’s fingers pressed on it. It was an obsidian dark card, with faded prints of red spider lilies in the background. On it, would be her name and the back of it? Her number went ‘030-695-1395’, both in a cursive golden font. With a gentle grin, she decided not to let the action talk.

How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:

What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:

What are your expectations for the job?:
There was only silence for a long while, as long as a minute. She leaned forward with both hands clasped forward, glaring at the interviewer. While her demeanor was certainly intimidating, that wasn’t her intention - at least not primarily

“I don’t really have much expectations about the job, really. It’s more Karakura itself.

Then, the silence came back, her stare still razor sharp. With a half-hearted scoff, she moved back. Despite her return to a more relaxed state, the tone of her voice remained scornful

“Nevertheless, I just hope that the job will be enough for me to stay put in Karakura. Whether it be through finding friendship within co-workers or earning enough money to take care of my daughter. Anything to distract myself - I suppose.”

Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:
Tsk, the sound came out. A palm came up to rub the side of her neck, frustrated. Her teeth was gritted, gaze averted

“Well, I was arrested for Obstruction of Justice once. Though that was when I was 20, not sure if it’s even in the KPD records anymore.”

Fluent Languages (Underline your native):
The Hattori chuckled at the question, amused. Both hands moved together in graceful unison to make out her next words except for the few hiccups from having to use her prosthetic hand

JSL: “I keep up with this language, something I’ve known since birth.”

She continued to chuckle, lazily waving her hand away. It was unprofessional but she was being herself!

Japanese: Sorry I couldn’t help myself, but Japanese is my native tongue. I just had to show off my proficiency. Unlike my Russian...”

Nervously, she adjusted her seat while clearing her throat. Then came hesitation as her finger connected the table in front, tapping away. Slowly, her words came out in a rough manner

Russian: “Which I am.. still a little bad at, still learning. Though I am fluent enough.”

PROMPTS:

You will have to write two reports about a topic of your choice. Here we can see how pronounced your writing is and how creative you are. Use your own formatting and your own report idea. (If you're found plagiarizing an actual report or another applicant, you will be denied.)

#1 - General report. Report about a topic, informing players about an event or significant issues to Karakura.

#2 - Interview. It's important to have well-rounded questions. Create your own interview with ten questions or more. And answer them yourself.
