Mitsuki Hanoshi had multiple friends who were deaf, and usually had to go out of their way to communicate with her. She decided to start learning JSL in Australia, when she was 10 years old. She would read books about it, watch videos about it, and much more. At the age of 12, she could fluently communicate with people using JSL, and also use it to talk silently to her friends. When she moved to Karakura, she realised she could use JSL as a great advantage.
