Karakura News | A Spike in Bear Activity

news reports header.png────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
This is a heavily critical post regarding the bear attack last week.

When it comes to animals, they tend to be unpredictable and wild. It’s how nature designed them, and they often don’t even have a moral compass, only doing what’s natural to them.

So why would three young miscreants wander into the forest and disrupt the bears brought over here many months ago?
Apparently, that is precisely what happened last week, resulting in a large squad of Police dressed in riot gear responding to a call regarding a man who had his arm mauled off by two bears. This unknown man and two friends of his had somehow provoked the bears and were chased into the 11/7, a place they thought they could hide.

A young woman and her friend were buying snacks and witnessed this half of the story, as well as having called 110 in order to get proper responders on the scene. What happened was not proper at all.

Despite being armed and somewhat protected, it appears they brought along a possibly unarmed person to ‘calm’ the bears down while EMS responded to the mauled victims. The bears had been confronted at the Church and what ensued was a blood bath. The person interacting with the bears and officers was attacked, brutally pinned down, and mauled.

Now, the question is, why do officers not have tranquilizers when living in an area with dangerous animals? I don’t have the answer myself, but they definitely should consider funding for such equipment to lessen the fatalities of the local wildlife. It’s bad enough that edgy teenagers provoke the bears, but to then kill them for how they act is simply irrational. They are doing what is natural to them, defending themselves and their territory.

This has happened several times already. The following weeks after the bears were first re-introduced to Karakura, multiple victims were reported being mauled or killed after provoking the animals with weaponry. This resulted in a massive spike of human and bear casualties, one of which was a cub that was gunned down.
Treating our wildlife like they’re ruthless bloodthirsty creatures is why everyone misunderstands these beasts. No, we shouldn’t let them kill people, but we should take precautions and have a proper response to these acts of violence against the bears. Tranquilizers, a plan, maybe even making it illegal to interact with them? A hefty fine and a bear warning sign will surely make it easier.

And if you’re one of the edgy teenagers this article targets, please stop thinking you’re amazing for cutting the paw off of a bear with your katana. You’re not attractive.

My maiden character is always so afraid to leave her place of work and come back do to bear attacks. She actually one time had to hide in a tree for a while before she could get to work cause a bear blocked her path.
