Backstory: Kenta Dai was born in Kyoto, Japan to his mother and father. His younger sister was born three years after him. During his childhood, his parents insisted on him attending a Chinese-speaking elementary school in Kyoto. They enrolled him in the academy when he turned 5. Instructors insisted that children only spoke Chinese. The environment was harsh, contributing to his fear of judgement and distrust of people. Kenta’s father had to relocate to Karakura City for work when he was 14, which is when he enrolled at Karakura High. Ultimately, Kenta's parents were very fixated on their reputations. They aspired to be seen as the perfect family and would verbally abuse him for any "mistakes" he would make. For this reason, Kenta held many secrets from them. Eventually, he'd had enough. He emancipated himself from their guardianship when he was 16 and left home for good.
