Describe your activity on the server:
My activity is beyond what I’d consider ‘normal’. I’m online for most hours of the day, dividing my time between the characters I play. I’m most often seen on my college character Loren Herrera-Lahela, who is my team character. Despite being a full-time student, I’m still able to manage my time wisely. I have a lot of free time on my hands, and I’m able to build my schedule around things I’d like to do, whether it be events, meetings, etc.

What is your motivation for applying?:
In all honesty, the government faction isn’t something I’d ever been interested in until a couple months ago. This is thanks to my team character, who aspires to be a lawyer someday. Through studying Karakura’s laws ICly and attending Law and Justice classes while playing him, I’ve found I truly do enjoy it - especially the mock trials. The opportunity to seriously roleplay out these things with this faction is an opportunity I can’t pass up. I’ve only ever been part of the school and emergency factions as a Professor and EMS, and I would love the chance to be able to try my hand at the town faction, too. Even if it is on a different character.
Do you have an understanding of Karakura’s laws & Constitutional rights?:
I believe I do! I’ve gone over them quite a bit, though the only time I’ve ever had to be knowledgeable on them has been when criminal characters of mine have been arrested. Other than ICly classes, I haven’t had the ability to apply them. Learning the small details I’ve missed or haven’t considered won’t be an issue at all, and I look forward to it!
What are your goals for being in Government Faction?:
First and foremost, my first goal is character lore. While it’s possible to develop this character outside of the government faction, this is a character I’ve been holding onto for some time in the hopes of gaining the opportunity to further his and his family’s story. That aside, I’ve never been a part of the town faction and am genuinely interested in experiencing all it has to offer. I’d love to be able to take part and contribute equal amounts, and meet and interact with people both ICly and OOCly I never otherwise would.
In your own words, describe the different roles of the Government Faction:
Mayor
The mayor acts as the faction lead and the one who oversees all the employees across the different government roles. They are the elected face of both the town hall and the city of Karakura as a whole. It’s the mayor who has the final say on laws and policies, especially relating to formal procedures and hires and promotions. As far as leadership goes, I choose to see it as more of a managerial position.
Deputy Mayor
One step down from mayor, the deputy mayor is still responsible for a lot. One could consider them the right hand of the mayor. They’re trained in all three departments. It’s the job of the deputy mayor to assist the mayor with their duties and take over if for whatever reason, they’re unable to attend to their responsibilities. They will also take on some of the mayor’s work if it’s needed, and often act as the official spokesperson. In most cases, in the case of the current mayor stepping down, the deputy mayor would serve as the acting mayor until elections take place.
Governor
Governors are the ones doing the shop inspections and ensuring everything is compliant with the health and safety regulations set in place. In addition to this, they can perform public surveys, approve adoption paperwork, attend trials, officiate marriages, and of course, hand out government IDs. The governors are also the ones who can sign bills into law and propose new policies.
Lawyer
Lawyers lend their voices to the people of Karakura. Perhaps seen by some as the most ‘glamorous’ position, they have a lot on their plate! They are able to consult with their clients and give legal advice, as well as play a very important part in court proceedings. They’re responsible for the collection and presentation of evidence in court. Not only are they tasked with defending the innocent in trials, they’re also tasked with proving the guilt of those who have broken the law before a judge, who will then give the final verdict.
Judge
Judges give the final verdict in court cases, and are the ones who will determine whether someone is innocent or guilty - or liable, if it is a civil case. Their job is to remain unbiased and view the evidence and testimonies from both sides, as well as maintain order in the court. Judges are also capable of issuing warrants and filing restraining orders.

“I floated between majors in college and couldn’t choose just one, so I double majored in Law and Justice and Political Science. Before deciding to be a lawyer, I initially wanted to be a detective. I passed top of my class with both bachelors degrees with a minor in Criminology. I struggled a bit on my Masters, but even though it took longer than most, I eventually obtained my Masters in Public Policy, then recently obtained my PhD in Criminal Law.
Work experience:
“I don’t have any work experience outside of internships. I’m fresh out of school with all these degrees, but I have yet to put them to use. I suppose everyone has to start somewhere, right?”

“I’m South Korean, born and raised in Seongnam. I miss it sometimes, but I’ve found my place here.”

What makes you a good candidate for this job?:
“I’m a good candidate for this job because my weaknesses are also my strengths. Me being fresh out of school with no work experience can be a weakness, sure, but it’s also a great advantage. I bring a fresh perspective and up to date knowledge. Modern problems require modern solutions, and I’m fully equipped. I adapt and learn easily, and my determination and work ethic will allow me to excel and make a positive impact."
