Describe your activity and roleplay experience on the server:

I'm pretty moderately active. I log frequently, although there are smaller periods of times where I get too busy and don’t have the time to. Besides that, I log at least once a week and a couple more times sporadically to say hello to friends. I usually log during the night. However, I will be moving towards summer break in a few days, so my activity will indeed increase.

Although not entirely new to the game, I haven't been on for very long, only starting January of last year. However, I've grown fond of the roleplay experiences I've gained, as well as new people I have met during my time playing! I try my best to avoid toxicity, and have been good at keeping from troubling issues such as being banned or creating bad relationships intentionally. I love to detailRP and, while I haven't been in SRP until recently, I've been enjoying RP otherwise for the past 5 years.

In your own words, why do you think professors are important to SchoolRP?

I think that professors are vital in SchoolRP’s community. I believe that one of SRP’s strongest points is the fact that it’s a very community based server, and having people who roleplay as teachers, professors, and mentors helps build a sense of realism. They are essential in creating broader opportunities to meet wonderful people, which I generally find to be one of my favorite parts of SRP.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive, you may face demotion or removal from the faction?

Yes. I acknowledge that if I am inactive, I may face demotion or removal from the faction.

Do you understand if your application is accepted, you may have to undergo professor training?:

Yes. I understand that if my application is accepted, I may have to undergo professor training.

IN-CHARACTER SECTION

⋆˚꩜。

What's your character's full name?
Esphyr Karamazov

Age (Minimum is 27):
28 (DOB September 29, XX)

Nationality:
Russian

Preferred Subject:
Philosophy of Literature (focus on Russian Literature)

Describe the character: How do they look and act? What makes them unique and different? What are their plans for the future? Optionally, what is their past?

Esphyr is a steadfast woman who refuses to allow herself to get pushed around. She stands tall at 180 cm, shoulders broad and pulled back with an easy confidence that comes with many years of trial and error. An almost otherworldly beauty, her jawline defined and expression schooled into that of something you would see on a runaway walk. Her eyes are an alluring, sharp green that seems to pierce those that attempt to underestimate her skillset, ample lips rarely allowing a crack in their glossy appearance, her straight teeth a pearly white. Her dyed, blue-green hair cascades down her back into an exotically bright orange, framing her sculpted face and adding to her appeal, somehow complimenting her regal features. A well-built figure– lined with lean muscles and clearly a woman who takes pride in taking care of herself.

However, despite her cold outwardly appearance, a gentle flower is budded deep within her chest. Although remaining impassive– a mountain unable to be moved– her heart is one centered around compassion and care regarding life. Upon warming up to her, there's a glint in her eyes that reminds you of a breeze brushing by as a greeting, of the moon that kisses you goodnight. Motherly to some, or a good moral support system to others; she borders the line perfectly between reasonable and sympathetic.

Born an only child, she's essentially raised by her grandmother. Although still in communication with her biological parents, she finds herself under her grandmother's care the majority of the time. An avid enjoyer of the subject philosophy as well, her grandmother is a kind, loving woman who dedicated much time and effort in making sure Esphyr grew to be a fine woman. Never quite strict, but making sure that Esphyr created morals and stuck with them, even under pressure of those surrounding her to question her ideology. Allowed for much freedom, and encouraged her to always think beyond what she thinks she could be capable of.

She learns of Karakura and its diverse student population, as well as its overwhelming crime population when she's halfway into her high school career through a friend who had transferred from there a while back. She finds herself wanting to expand her method of communication through both place and language; she picks up on a few language learning courses during her time in high school, as well as leading into her college years. With her diligence and the help of that friend, she manages to perfect Japanese, as well as learn Korean well enough for basic communication. An incredibly hard worker, she remains studious all the way until her graduation, thriving off of her own success and her grandmother's pride. She graduates near the top of her class with a masters and begins her teaching career near her hometown while working towards her PhD for approximately two years before deciding to move to Karakura to begin her expected journey.

What is their outlook on students and their co-workers?

She regards students as if they're buds with the potential to grow into a meadow of stars, in which they furthermore have the opportunity to claim itself a planet. She's protective of everyone assigned under her care and willing to go above and beyond to ensure their safety before hers. She believes everyone has a talent of their own that they must cherish, and if the talent isn't visible in a physical form, then their existence was an expertise enough.

She holds respect for her colleagues unless proven otherwise. Never a hostile figure, although some may see her as almost emotionless with her lack of outbursts or bouts of energy. Although she doesn't make movements towards getting close with them personally, she's always open for friendly conversation or growing a bond beyond being coworkers. She finds good work ethic admirable and disdains strong laziness, although understands the concept of burning out. She's unafraid to check up on them if she believes they're struggling, offering a shoulder to lean on or a person to talk to. Plans to teach way into the future and would like to keep good connections, as well as learn from one another.

What is their motivation for becoming a professor?:

Esphyr was generally much more apathetic as a child, struggling to emotionally connect with her peers. She delves herself into her grandmother's old books in an attempt to understand human nature in aspects that she couldn't wrap her head around. Slowly, she thaws out of her inability to understand both humanity and the world. She admires her grandmother greatly and began aspiring to teach others values that she had been taught herself, becoming dead set on becoming a teacher by the time she was 10. She’d fully decided on wanting to become a professor when shadowing her ethics professor during her freshman year of college.

ROLEPLAY SCENARIOS

⋆˚꩜。

A jock is ignoring your lesson and throwing paper balls at another student, what would your character do?

Esphyr’s transition would be seamless as she walks between the desks and places herself bodily between the jock and the student. Calmly, she’d turn to the jock and ask them if they have any sort of issue. She is more bothered by them throwing stuff at another student than the lack of attention in her class, and would slide a detention slip before transferring them to a seat farther away from the majority of the class. She would tell them that this was college, not kindergarten– she does not make it sound mocking, and more so a blatant fact, telling them to rethink their decisions before attempting something like that again.

A student doesn’t seem to understand the material, yet hasn’t requested help, what would your character do?

Esphyr has a particularly keen eye. She understands the want to figure things out for themselves– depending on what she knows of that student, she will either allow them to struggle and figure it out themselves or step in to offer a helping hand. She knows that depending on how that person learns, they might find better success in going through the motions of trial and error until they’ve understood it, and that the following feeling of achievement is a key point for further motivation. However, in the case that it seems the struggle is demotivating the student and messing with their mental health, she’ll be quick to step in regardless of any vocal requests. She’d call the student to see her after class and figure out a style of learning that will help the student understand the material better.

When in the faculty lounge, how does your character act?

You’ll often find her deeply focused on grading papers and a half-drunken coffee. Esphyr, albeit truthfully reserved and seemingly standoffish, has never been the type to flat out ignore anybody. Upon seeing another staff member enter the room, she greets them with a steady ‘good morning’, or whatever time of day it is. She keeps it simple unless there’s a topic of interest that she feels she should bring up, and remains a calm nature that keeps any awkward air from settling around them. In the case any faculty try to hitch up a conversation, she’s never bothered by it. Every conversation seems to genuinely intrigue Esphyr– to her, no conversation is undeserving of her full attention. She’s not outright friendly in the usual term of eccentricity, but a calm sort of presence, relaxing and not so overwhelming.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas and one field trip idea related to your subject:

1.
The classical debates. Using beginner friendly uses, I’d spend the class period debating questions that can be found and examined in literary texts. Starting off with simple fairy tales that everyone would know (i.e. The Little Prince, The Ugly Duckling), I would ask questions that urged students to think deeper into the complexities of seemingly simple and straightforward stories. Furthermore, I’d take students with opposing takes and allow them to debate their takes. While there is usually no direct 'right' answer, I believe it will help individuals consider both sides of the coin and allow for a good cognitive thinking on their own standpoint on the world and humanity. These may stretch on for multiple classes, allowing for students to congress about it outside of class before returning with a stronger defense or argument.

2. Delving into the fine lines of real philosophers quite literally, I would assign each individual a philosopher and a book that they’ve written. I would then allow a limited amount of time for research, or getting a grasp on how these figures used literary aspects to explain their philosophies, before calling them up one by one and letting the class question the student, who must answer in a similar sense to how the philosophers themselves would have explained it while using evidence from a text to explain it. This may also expand over a course of multiple classes in the chance that a student isn't able to finish acting out their person.

3. A philosophical picnic. I would gather the students, alongside a selection of classic children books and fairytales, and under strict regulation and guidance, would allow them to explore the park just beyond school grounds, allowing them a breath of fresh air while simultaneously allowing for a quick retreat back to school grounds in case time began to cut short. I’d settle us in a small picnic area, offering refreshments and snacks before handing out the books, or allowing the students to choose. I’d let the students take some time discussing the books, which many of them will know off of the top of their head, only really needing the book as a referral to have on hand. Then I’d put a question on the table, such as the ethics of storytelling, and throw in something as a hook, such as a controversial take on this. The students would then explain their chosen children's book or fairytale and explain their stance on the question. An easy yet enjoyable trip, especially for college students who most likely feel cramped working on papers. Allows for growing connections, as well as a nice way to bask under the sun.
