What is your motivation to apply for reporter?: I’ve wanted to join the faction for quite a while! I’ve been thinking about it for probably somewhere around 6-ish months. There’s something about the faction that’s seemed to call to me for a while now and I think that joining it would be really fun. Part of the reason I want to join is that I also really love writing. I’ve loved writing for quite some time now, and I think that joining the reporter faction will hopefully help me in multiple ways! I think it’ll help give me motivation to write, give me experience in writing that I haven’t really had before, and hopefully I’ll be able to learn different ways of writing in the faction. I also would love to use the opportunity as a reporter to learn more about everything happening in general. I’ve started to realize recently that I don’t necessarily know as much about a lot of the things going on in Karakura as I thought I did.
Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?: As I mentioned before, I’ve really enjoyed writing for a while now. I’ve found that it helps me express parts of myself in ways that I don’t get to express in almost any other way and it’s really nice. I can’t quite put my finger on how long I’ve been writing, but it’s been somewhere around 8(?) months. I’ve really fallen in love with writing lore on my characters and their pasts. I also really enjoy sharing stories with my friends and people around me; it’s healing in a way. There’s something about writing that seems to resonate with me and I really love it.

Why should we accept you over others?: I personally believe that I’m growing to be a pretty decent writer and that I’ve grown a somewhat unique writing style. I’ve been told by many people that they really love how I write and that it’s fun to read. I also feel a certain dedication to things when I really put my mind to it, and this faction is one I’ve had my eye on for a bit. I believe that between how I write, my passion for writing, a yearning for growth, and that my dedication for my work will help you pick me for reporter!

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?: I do! I try to be very active, so I don’t think I’ll have much trouble getting quota.
Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is: I can imagine reporter work as multiple things, but my primary idea of it is essentially collecting news and events about current events happening in Karakura and letting it be known to the people. The reporter’s job is to gain information on things through any way possible in my eyes. Usually this is through interviewing people or witnessing events and researching them through any means necessary. I can also see reporter work as essential being a professional storyteller for people to rely on. Essentially, people will trust you and your character to tell the truth and not show any sort of bias or lies in your reports. Truth is something that requires trust to believe, and as a reporter you need the trust of the people, so you better be a damn-good storyteller.

Parker kept eye contact with the boy throughout the whole interview. It seemed as if the whole interaction was being recorded on a.. Camcorder? Damn. The whole interview seemed as if it’d occurred in a distant memory simply off of the way the camera was placed, as well as the quality of the video. [!]
[P] Parker’s hands rested atop each other as they leaned towards the young boy. “Thank you for accepting the opportunity for me to interview you. I truly do appreciate it. If I may ask again, however.. What was your name? In full, please.”
[?] “Hart Arsenyev Saito!” The young boy flashed his teeth as he grinned widely. Hart’s eyes sparkled.
[P] They chuckled. “Thank you, Hart. Now let’s begin, yes?”
[H] He nodded, still grinning.
[P] Parker sat upright now, crossing their legs. “Now, Hart. You mentioned previously that your life had been heavily affected by the crime rates in Karakura; how so?”
[H] In just one moment, all of the joy that was in Hart’s face seemed to drain. Everything that Hart tried to forget about began to sink back into his mind. “I mean,..” His voice dropped from a high-pitched, excited tone, now to one of despair and hurt. “I’ve lost people, man. I’ve lost people, and I’ve lost myself in.. Everything I’ve seen.”
[P] “I’m so sorry for your losses, I really am. I understand how that feels.” Parker’s eyes brows raised, tilting inwards as they did so. Empathy seemed to fill their expression as they continued. “But you mentioned how you believe that KPD isn’t doing anything for the town, yes? Please explain.”
[H] A sense of disdain seemed to replace the dread that was previously in Hart’s expression. “They simply do nothing. They only hurt the community, in all reality. It’s terrible to see.” He snarled. “They lock up people for petty crimes but keep murderers on the streets.” Hart leaned back in his seat.
[P] Parker raised a brow. “Really? So you believe that the police department is the problem rather than the criminals themselves?”
[H] Hart simply stared, dumbfounded. “No. The criminals are the problem, but the fact that KPD is so focused on the little things instead of the major gangs running around in our streets is utterly idiotic in my eyes. I mean, c’mon. Is it not obvious?” He huffed.
[P] “I suppose that is fair.. How do you suppose they could deal with these issues?”
[H] “It’s simple, really. Just send in the whole force to the literal gang hideouts which I know they know about because I’ve witnessed them raid shit before. I mean, come on KPD. Get your fucking lives together.”
[P] “You’re quite passionate about your hate for the police department, hm? It seems that’s a common occurrence.. Why do you believe that is?”
[H] “Because KPD are bums, and that’s really it. Honestly, I feel like organized crime groups focused on taking care of the problem gangs would be more effective than KPD themselves, but that’s just my opinion. From others, though? It’s probably a bad experience. KPD are just simply bad at their job, and that’s that.”
[P] “That’s quite a strong opinion, Mr. Saito. Have you personally had any bad experiences with KPD?”
[H] “Multiple, but.. The only real one I can think of right now is when I was arrested for attempted assault. It was self defense, and I still get arrested? Are you joking?” Hart’s irritation seemed to grow as he continued talking. It was clear this interview was going to have to grow to a stop soon.. “It’s bullshit.”
[P] “I see.. So how do you think they should handle cases like those? The ones of self-defense, I mean.”
[H] “Maybe they should actually take in consideration that not everyone’s gonna sit there and get beat around, even if there’s a camera watching them. Start listening to the victims rather than just the crime. I’m done talking about this.” Hart began to stand.
[P] “Ah, no.. If you may stay for just a moment, I only have a few more questions. Please, remain seated.”
[H] Hart hesitated before sitting back down. “You get three more.”
[P] “Thank you. Now, you mentioned that they should listen to both sides? Why wouldn’t you just go to court then?”
[H] Hart sneered again. “Because the government is shit, too. They don’t do anything all day other than sit there ‘nd laugh at us. It’s disgusting.”
[P] “I see.. Now what do you mean by, ‘sit there any laugh at us’?”
[H] “I mean, have you seen them try and do anything about crime? I don’t think so. They’ve just sat there and done nothing. NOTHING!”
[!] The air began to grow more tense as Hart’s irritation grew more and more. Something about the interview seemed off. It almost seemed as if Parker was only adding fuel to the fire by this point. [!]

[H] “They haven’t done anything for me, they haven’t done anything for anyone I know, they haven’t done anything for all of Karakura. The government needs to get their life together and—” Hart raised his voice. That boy really seemed to be losing himself. “START DOING SOMETHING, PLEASE?!” He slammed his hands on the table, standing up.

[H] “Maybe they should actually take in consideration that not everyone’s gonna sit there and get beat around, even if there’s a camera watching them. Start listening to the victims rather than just the crime. I’m done talking about this.” Hart began to stand.
[P] “Ah, no.. If you may stay for just a moment, I only have a few more questions. Please, remain seated.”
[H] Hart hesitated before sitting back down. “You get three more.”
[P] “Thank you. Now, you mentioned that they should listen to both sides? Why wouldn’t you just go to court then?”
[H] Hart sneered again. “Because the government is shit, too. They don’t do anything all day other than sit there ‘nd laugh at us. It’s disgusting.”
[P] “I see.. Now what do you mean by, ‘sit there any laugh at us’?”
[H] “I mean, have you seen them try and do anything about crime? I don’t think so. They’ve just sat there and done nothing. NOTHING!”
[!] The air began to grow more tense as Hart’s irritation grew more and more. Something about the interview seemed off. It almost seemed as if Parker was only adding fuel to the fire by this point. [!]
[P] “I see.. Now, that didn’t really answer my question. What do you mean by nothing?”
[H] “They haven’t done anything for me, they haven’t done anything for anyone I know, they haven’t done anything for all of Karakura. The government needs to get their life together and—” Hart raised his voice. That boy really seemed to be losing himself. “START DOING SOMETHING, PLEASE?!” He slammed his hands on the table, standing up.
[!] Parker interrupted Hart. “Please, Mr. Saito. Calm yourself.” They requested, keeping their voice gentle. “I WILL NOT CALM MYSELF! I’M DONE HERE!” He shouted. “Thank you then, Mr. Saito.” Parker added. The footage on the camcorder seemed to die out, with the final few frames being Parker standing up and grabbing the device. [!]
