Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Well teachers are basically the backbone of SchoolRP because they keep the roleplay world running in a way that actually feels like a functioning school instead of just a bunch of students hanging around. Without teachers there'd really be no real reason for school to exist on SRP. Lessons give players schedule, goals and something to actually do during the day beyond casual chat. Classes spark interaction between students and other staff. Without teachers it would really just feel flat. On SRP teachers aren't just NPC figures, they are actual characters with personalities, backstories and relationships which adds depth. If teachers weren't on SchoolRP the server would feel more like a social hub with classrooms as decorations instead of an actual school setting.

What's your character's full name?: Um Ji-hye
What is your character's nationality?: Korean
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Science (Biology)
Describe your character:
Ji-hye stood at just 138cm having a petite body shape that gave her an almost delicate presence though anyone who truly knew her understood she was far from fragile. She carries herself with the presence of someone much taller though. She had mid-length dark hair that fell in smooth, controlled waves that had an undertone of black with hints of lighter pieces. It framed her face with neck-length bangs that drew attention to her straight brows that sat neatly above her almond-shaped eyes being deep and observant. Her skin was healthy and luminous for being the age she was. She is a well-kept woman, always taking care of herself, a reflection to her everyday routine that consists of various carefully chosen skincare products she bought from her hometown, Busan, South Korea. Her style leaning towards business casual outfits that were mostly in muted tones such as gray's and white's. Ji-hye has a steady, patient presence both inside and outside the classroom. She holds high standards for herself which naturally extends to how she treats people around her. Her movements were controlled and slowed with a tight posture. She rarely ever rose her voice, her words carrying weight when she chose to speak. Her attitude mostly calm and collected not being rude at force. What made her unique was her sharp mind paired with a certain patience. She was someone who played along with the game, never rushing and never acting without strategy. She had a skill for adapting to changing circumstances while staying true to her morals. As for her future Ji-hye's greatest dream wasn't essentially career driven but family. She longed to become a mother and to raise children in a warm and nurturing home filled with laughter and love. She had always been drawn to children. Their curiosity and the way they found joy in small things. She saw herself teaching them about kindness and guiding them to grow in confidence and to navigate life's challenges. For her that was the truest form of success.
What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
OUTLOOK ON STUDENTS:
Ji-hye sees students not just as learners but as individuals with their own stories and challenges. Despite that, also each having potential. She believes every child has the spark that needs the right environment to thrive. Her patience allows her to guide them without pressure offering encouragement over criticism. She values discipline and responsibility but never at the cost of personal uniqueness. To her students aren't just preparing for exams but they are preparing for life and she feels a deep responsibility to help them grow into capable, kind and strong adults.
OUTLOOK ON CO-WORKERS:
Ji-hye treats her colleagues with quiet respect preferring cooperation over competition. She believes balanced work environment that benefits everyone and she strives to be the kind of person she can rely on. While she is polite and professional she doesn't like unnecessary drama or gossip choosing instead to focus on the task she has been given. She values co-workers who are dedicated, open-minded and willing to learn from one another and she offers the same in return. She respects professionalism and believes believes that everyone should put their best effort forward but she pairs those expectations with empathy. To her education isn't just about grades, its about guiding people toward growth.
Overall around colleagues she is polite and respectful always willing to lend a hand or share ideas. Around students she is warm but firm, making sure they feel supported while also holding them accountable.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Her motivation for teaching was rooted in her own childhood. Growing up in Busan, she had been lucky to encounter a few teachers who saw her not just as another student in a crowded classroom but as an individual with potential. Their encouragement stayed with her for years shaping her believe in becoming a teacher. She wanted to be that person for someone else. She also believed that education was more than academics instead it being about shaping character. For her teaching was a way to invest in the future and to leave something lasting through the lives she entered. Each lesson and every word of encouragement was a small seed she hoped would bloom along with her students in her classroom. And beneath all of it was her deep love for children. She didn't just want to teach them but also wanted to help them grow into the kind of people who could make the world a better place. Teaching for Ji-hye was not a career she fell into rather it was a calling she answered. For her knowledge should be shared not hoarded. Her love for children and her dream of becoming a mother one day deepened this connection. When she does teach some day she doesn't just see a classroom full of students rather she sees little people with unique strengths, struggles and potential. The satisfaction of watching a student's understanding click into place is to her one of life's greatest rewards.

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
If she noticed a student is struggling to understand the topic of the classroom she wouldn't call them out in front of the class. She might kneel or sit nearby showing that she is present and approachable and gently guide them through the problem instead of just giving them the answer. She would ask questions that lead them to think for themselves, praising each effort the student would make. Her tone would be calm and encouraging never arrogant. She would re-explain the concept in simpler terms using examples that connected to the student's own experiences or interests. Patience was one of her strongest traits, so she would take as much time as needed breaking the lesson into smaller more manageable steps. More than anything Ji-hye's goal would be to make the student feel capable not embarrassed. She believed that struggling was just part of the learning process and that with the right guidance, every student could succeed. If she notices that they still get frustrated she would remind them that its okay to take a moment to breathe. After class, she would follow up on the student checking if they understand or need extra support, offering tips, encouragement or even just a reassuring word. Through it all Ji-hye stays patient and empathetic. She would be proud of the effort they're making knowing that the way she reacts can give the student confidence to keep trying rather than shutting down.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Ji-hye would first address it with quiet control instead of calling the child out in public. She believes in correcting behaviour without damaging a child's confidence. Ji-hye would take slow breaths and keep her voice calm not letting frustration slip through. She would watch them carefully trying to figure out what was really going on. Instead of calling them out in front of the whole class in a rude manner, she would gently ask the child to respect the students around them as it disrupts her lesson. If the behaviour continued she wouldn't get into a shouting match, instead she would stop the lesson for a second before meeting the student's gaze. She would talk to the student firmly yet again. She would remind them of the rules straightforward, giving them a simple choice of SLT report or focusing on the lesson. Later she would pull the student aside privately to discuss what was going on. She understood that disruptive behaviour often had a different cause such as boredom, frustration or personal struggles and she would ask gentle but direct questions to uncover it. She would make it clear that while she cared about them that she could not allow their actions to affect other student's learning. Depending on the situation she might set up a plan for improvement. For Ji-hye discipline was not about punishment but rather about guiding a student toward self-control and respect for others. Through it all she would be calm, patient and show respect while thinking carefully about each word and gesture because she knows the way she knows the way she handles this could make all the difference not just for that student but for the whole class.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
1. Biology Quiz Show!
The objective: Review biology concepts through a fun interactive quiz game!
How it works: Ji-hye would ask biology questions aloud and students are to answer by moving to either side of the classroom. For example left could indicate 'correct' and right 'incorrect' Once all the students have chosen their side Ji-hye will reveal the answer and explain briefly why it is correct, providing additional context or fun facts t make the learning fun. To keep everyone engaged she could also include bonus questions or mini challenges like a 'lightning round' where students answer in teams against the clock.
Why it works: This activity encourages movement, quick thinking and active recall which helps reinforce concepts more effectively than passive learning. It also allows Ji-hye to see which topics need more attention and provides immediate feedback in a playful, non-intimidating way.
2. Ecosystem Roleplay!
The objective: Help students understand ecosystems by roleplaying different species in different biomes.
How it works: Ji-hye will assign each student a role as a plant, herbivore, carnivore or other key species and take students outside to a 'biome' area in the school yard or even classroom. Students will then act out how their species survives, competes or interacts with others. For example a bird might "tweet" to signal communication, a bee could "pollinate" a flower and a cow might "graze" on grass. Ji-hye can introduce events like a sudden drought or predator that appears to make students adapt to their roles in real time that way it simulates ecological challenges.
Why it works: This helps students empathize with different species and understand the dependance within ecosystems and remember ecological concepts way better. By physically acting out these interactions students remain engaged, develop teamwork skills and are are able to visualize relationships in a fun, memorable way!
