I believe they were set so high to try and help with how much money is flowing through SRP as with some things like if you do commissions, are a shopkeeper, BMD, or even many other ways you can gather money in game can cause people to rack up a large sum with some ways being much slower than others. But I do find it a little crazy how to get enough nice furniture for my house I have to spend more than my monthly rent on said house.
