His abs were defined but soft. There appeared to be a large scar in the shape of an X across his chest. A few brown freckles on the young man's face, who appeared to be rather good looking, nearly disappeared into his pale brown complexion. Apond his right cheek there was a single dimple, in addition to two recognizable smile lines. His left canine tooth was damaged, but other than that, he had nearly flawless smile. Apond further inspection a scar that resembled a claw running over his right eye that would remain undetected unless the hair covering it was removed. His medium-length dark brown curly locks nearly reached his shoulders. The curls were flawless. His hair felt silky and landed very close to his eyes. His eyes had a grey-blue colour. They resembled an almond in structure. The sunshine would make them shimmer. He was observed wearing casual clothing, which included a long- or short-sleeved shirt, pants, and accessories. A sent of cocobutter, often known as coconut-vanilla, followed him about.

Mateo Cape Rodriguez was born on Sunday, February 8, 2004. Mateo also meant "Gift of God" or "Regalo de Dios". His birth father was French Canadian, and insisted on the middle name Cape, as it was his first name. Mateo inherited his mother's Domincan surname. Mateo was born into a household that included his father, Cape Anthonie Rodriguez-Dubois, his mother, Adaya Rodriguez, and two older brothers, Carlos Paul Rodriguez, who was two years older, and Santiago Isidro Rodriguez, who was three years older. He had a very nice childhood up to the birth of his younger sister Luna Lilly Rodriguez at the age of two. Living in the Dominican Republic, behaving like a typical young boy, and constantly admiring Santiago, his elder brother, who stood up for him in every situation. Mateo was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder at the age of four. Other than having to take some medication every day at his father's request, not much changed. Mateo's father joined the "Para sangre" a local gang when he was just six years old. Mateo's father, who was already assertive and demanding, became violent, an alcoholic, and addicted to drugs as a result of this. After a demanding workday, Mateo's father would yell, curse, and threaten Mateo and Luna when he got home. Santiago, Carlos, and their mother would then receive the remainder he had to 'give'. Mateo being young and naive did not understand what his father was doing to his family members.

❀ Childhood {7 - 12} ❀
When Mateo was seven years old, his father one day returned home drunk, as usual. Toys from the kids were scattered all over the place, making it a mess. Mateo's father interrupted him as he was building Legos on the floor, cursing and shouting incomplete sentences. He was so enraged that he grabbed Mateo by the shoulders and gave him a beating till he became blue and black. Mateo, covered in tears, laid on the ground, baffled as to why his father would act in such a manner. At ten years old and enrolled in school, Santiago was unable to assist him. Such incidents persisted throughout his early years. Mateo's father called him too feminine because of his petite frame and other unpleasant, demeaning remarks. He would express his dissatisfaction with him as a father telling Mateo he needed man up. Mateo observed his surroundings and endured constant mistreatment till the age of twelve. Mateo was done. Having seen Santiago suffer too many injuries while attempting to defend him, he made the decision to strike back. Mateo's father became enraged one day and began to unleash his anger on him. Mateo tried to strike back, but his father was too strong for him, putting him in the hospital. After that day, Mateo's mother came to the desistion to send Santiago and Mateo away.
