Describe your activity on the server:
I typically get online for a few hours every day. Since I am a Grade 12 I spend most of my time fishing with friends, attending classes, and getting reward tokens from the library. I enjoy interacting with other people on the server and sometimes my apartment can get very busy and packed as a result. However, I have not spent any time in any of the server’s factions.

Shop Information
/*You may add your own questions to the format*/

What shop are you applying for?:
The opening that got me to apply was:
JOI-KON
Shopkeeper: ???
Category: Gifts & Accessories

Although this category still describes accurately what my store would be, it must be stressed I am looking to open a TOY STORE. Any sold toys would still fall under ‘gifts and accessories’ but the ultimate theme and tone would be that of a toy store. Accessories would be marketed with the toys if they match the theme (i.e. pink accessories with a unicorn plushy).

Why do you want to become a Shopkeeper?:

Aside from the running your own business aspect, I saw some players in the discord sharing their ‘plushie collection’ and it dawned on me just how many there are! This collecting aspect of it was something I really wanted to do myself, but I am applying here because the role of shopkeeper allows me to actively encourage such collecting by players on the server.

I can actively market toys of the more rare variety as ‘LIMITED EDITION’ and transform myself and my employees into the Tour Guide Barbie from Toy Story 2. I enjoy making art in my spare time too and would like to use my drawing tablet to make promotional materials for the shop (all the images you see here have been made by me).

All this I hope will encourage more players to have access to plushies and other toys to bring to the high school; I want to see them used in roleplay scenarios and/or inspire a sense of nostalgia. Many on SRP, I am sure, have some kind of memories of people bringing things like Pokemon cards (or some other collectible) to school and it is that same feeling I want to encourage by becoming a shopkeeper and shamelessly marketing toys alongside accessories.

What do you plan to do with your shop, and what makes it unique?:
My shop would not be alone in selling accessories or toys, but it would be unique in that it markets itself as a toy store and endeavors to offer the widest possible selection of plushies and switch out its products overtime to help expand (and encourage) toy collections in Karakura. I see many families formed on the server and intend to market this shop as a family-friendly environment that aspires to offer a constantly rotating selection of toys, alongside accessories.

There is magic in the environment of a Toy Store, displays that can be built that go beyond just shelves with goods on display. I would very much be going for the vibes of ‘Duncan’s Toy Chest’ from Home Alone 2 but less Christmas and more pastel. I understand there may not be room for all this to be realized, but that is no reason to not make an attempt

What would the shop look like?:
I would be open to and appreciate the help of SRP builders in achieving an old-timey toy store aesthetic (as much as would be allowed because I know the style needs to match the surrounding area). I am capable of putting things together myself but feedback is welcome (and necessary from what I understand).

I’ve attached some screenshots and what stands out would be the playerheads I would like displayed. I am aware some player heads can be purchased but I do not know if I can have server staff (builders) simply place heads for display (e.g. a plush cow, Kirby, etc.).

Below are some blocks I’ve placed. The images below are purely conceptual. All I can say for certain is I definitely would want some LARGE chest or box displayed out the front (alternatively a ‘house’ logo). In the picture, I’ve used a playerhead but I am unsure if that is permitted, but if it is not I can find an alternative.

- Note that this is just a rough idea of what I want. In the build on the server, I would like to add more shelves and checkout lines.

What will you sell in your shop?:
Although I could go through some itemized list, I will be using statements because it seems deceptive to just list items that may well be changed in the future. Providing an idea of the goods to be sold seems more appropriate.

  • All kinds of plushies
  • Miscellaneous toy items (e.g. toy trains, figures).
  • ‘Weapon’ toy items (e.g. plastic guns and the like)
Accessories will be sold as well, but I intend to be very particular with certain items. This is because some accessories can be thematically marketed alongside particular toys. For example, pink or rainbow accessories can be marketed alongside a Unicorn plushie. Some employees will exist as [Marketers] and are kept purely to promote these items being sold. Marketable items would be presented not necessarily as a ‘bundle,’ but displayed in the same place within the store. Sticking with that unicorn example, the [Marketers] could do what I’ve seen other people do which is dress up as ponies.

But this is just an example. They may dress up as, say, dolls or bears or whatever the marketing department (my employees) conclude to be most likely to draw in the most amount of customers. For example, say the Barbie Movie came out and I was operating this shop at that time: I would sell more humanoid plushies alongside anything pink, probably some glossier and items along that theme. The beauty of a toy shop– aside from its timeless charm, is the fact the merchandise is easy to market.

What will never be sold in the shop?
Alcohol, cigarettes and any merchandise deemed not to be family-friendly shall not be sold in the store given that it is primarily a toy store that markets itself to families and those with an appreciation for collecting.

How many employees do you plan to have?:
Approximately 11 (SUBJECT TO CHANGE) In addition to myself:
[Manager] 1/1

  • The manager is an employee that has either proven to be very active in the business or is appointed because of some special experience. They can act as cashiers or marketers but are generally responsible for keeping an eye on employees, all social media sites relevant to the business (including the shop discord), and reporting incidents to the shop owner.
[Cashier] 5/5
  • Most shopkeepers employ cashiers to actively sell the merchandise and keep track of the money coming in and products going out. Shirotani’s Dollhouse is no different. Cashiers shall be compensated for their work according to the laws of Karakura. They will be expected to wear uniforms, but unlike the marketers, the uniforms are only subject to change on special occasions (Christmas, Halloween, Easter etc.).
[Marketers] 2/2 — Guide or escort people to the shop, dress up thematically as appropriate
  • When the shop opens a pair of Marketers (the amount is subject to change depending on our budget) shall parade around Karakura to escort prospective customers to the store (in addition to adverts that simply advertise the location). They will also be responsible for promoting the products by wearing certain attire depending on which products are being promoted/sold.

Does the business have any expansion ambitions?
I’ve observed other businesses provide services in addition to simple goods. It has occurred to me that a family-friendly business such as Shirotani’s Dollhouse may want to offer services too. But what kind of service would it make sense for a toy store to want to offer in such a small town as Karakura? As I have said before, there are families in Karakura, and presumably people (especially the Adult roles) are not always buying toys for themselves but for others.

With this in mind, the business may expand into the realm of childcare services. A bold move, but it makes sense given I have seen teachers from Karakura High giving these services. It may also prove to be a good idea from a marketing perspective as not only would our accredited childcare workers be getting paid by providing the service (on an hourly basis or whatever agreement is reached), but the workers can also bring pre-approved merchandise from the business to show (but never surrender) to the person they are being paid to accompany and care for. This may increase the amount of customers visiting the store and seeking more toys.

Communication with the Karakura Government may be necessary to determine what the necessary qualifications are for an individual to offer childcare services. The Constitution says anyone over 16 can work, but a 16-year-old being charged with the care of, say, a 12-year-old and getting paid for it surely is not legal. Legal advice will be obtained.

Does the shop or its owner have a history that is worth noting?:

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION / HISTORY OF THE STORE’S INCEPTION:
Age: 22 (or older depending on the rules)

Freminet Shirotani is a 22-year-old man who moved with his brother and sister to Karakura. Unlike his siblings, he never grew out of his fond appreciation for toys and enjoys collecting them. He opened his own shop, Shirotani's Dollhouse, to share his enthusiasm for collecting with others. All toys are worth collecting, from the super rare to the very common, which is what he stocks his shelves with!

He is extremely sensitive to the plight of Karakura’s younger population (his target market) who suffer injuries and are left bedridden in the Karakura Hospital; especially during Christmas, a time when they are supposed to be with their families. Consequently, around December all employees of Shirotani’s Dollhouse attended the hospital to visit sick children, having obtained permission from the appropriate authorities. During such visits, some employees dress as Santa, others as elves, and the like. All to bring some cheer to the young people who need it most.

Do the employees bring toys with them during such visits? Of course! Do they gift the toys in the "spirit of Christmas" or do they deliberately withhold them in the hopes their loved ones will buy them during opening hours? Yes.

Additional notes about your application:

- A discord server or Onrain profile has not been created for this business since the application format does not require that to be done. I am willing to create these if it is required/recommended.
- I have not gone to Town Hall to register any sort of business before, so I am unfamiliar with the process. However, I am prepared to learn the process of registering businesses.
- I may well add more to this application in the future but I figured I should post something ASAP so, even if it does get denied, I can gauge from any feedback given in any denial what went wrong or could use work and so on. For example: is it NECESSARY to provide an itemized list of specific items or is it simply enough to say ‘accessories’ and elaborate in general terms?

Do you have any questions?:
  1. Is it expected (or an advantage) for applicants to create a discord for the business (or acquire employees ahead of time) before applying?
  2. Is there an age range for characters? (Like a minimum and maximum)
  3. Can the SRP Builders place playerheads for decorations?
