What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
I applied a few waves ago and was placed on pending, before the last wave where the status was changed. This faction is still one I’m not fully familiar with - I understand the announcements and that there are the larger server-wide events that get reported on, however the inner-workings are a complete mystery to me. Like my last application, I still look forward to seeing other people’s writing styles, and enjoy reading through the other reports that have been written, as well as the potential to interact with other members of the faction and branch out my roleplay opportunities.

Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
I have a variety of experiences with writing, from long, detailed sports actions for the track team, to writing up intel files and roleplay encounters on my thug. I have also grown with how I write my applications as I have done more of them, as well as keeping on top of things such as character sheets, or lore documents.
Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
Yes!

Why should we accept you over others?:
Because I’m a chill person. Okay well, I am but in all seriousness, I’m hella active on my main, and I’m working towards getting more active on my alt. If I’m accepted into the faction, I will most likely be on my alt about the same amount as I’m on my main. And I like to think I’m a nice person, I’m here for good vibes.

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
Understood loud and clear!

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
Yes!

Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
You start the day at home with a nice coffee, probably black with a million sugars just to make it past 9am. Head to the news station, make sure no stray birds get in because that’d be unhygienic! Interact with the other reporters, maybe go on side-quests to find inspiration for daily announcements or for cute reports to write about. Lock in for a solid few hours - unless you get dragged on ANOTHER side quest. Drink your third coffee of the day (or more, I ain’t gonna judge) and then go home to fact check and do MORE work, ready to repeat it all again tomorrow!

Full Name:
The woman adjusted her hair pin before sitting. Her hands were placed neatly in her lap, as her silky locks fell in front of her face. The brunette pushed them back, offering a tired smile to the individual(s) in front of her. “Good morning, My name is Serena Kamei, it’s lovely to make your acquaintance” The woman’s soft-spoken voice spilled out into the room like liquid honey, warm and sweet.. A complete and utter juxtaposition to the version of her that people who really knew her saw. First impressions were important after all, and Kamei knew just how vital the sound of one’s voice could be in an interview - Too cold and she’d be called harsh, cynical even. Too sweet or high-pitched and she’d be called annoying, immature, or even fake. Thankfully she’d spent time and practice making sure she found the perfect medium.

Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
A sweet smile crossed the woman’s face - though.. It didn’t quite reach her eyes. “My title? How formal..” she let out a gentle giggle, the sun from the window sparkling in her chestnut brown eyes. “I go by Miss, there was a brief period where I was married.. So technically speaking I’m Ms. as a divorcee.. But I much prefer going by Miss Kamei in a formal setting.” ah- yes. The other part of the question. “As for my preferred name? I would really rather go by Rena when in casual conversation, or even Ren, I’ve heard that once or twice.” Her hands were moved from her lap to the table, briefly showing her recently manicured nails, before she used her arms to prop her chin up with, her head lulling gently to the side with an expectant smile.

Current Age (25+):
She was not about to make the ‘it’s rude to ask a lady her age’ joke - god only knows how overdone it was. Though she did have to think about this one.. Why? Who knows - we all forget how old we are sometimes. “I’m 25.” okay- wow. Talk about a short answer Rena. “I know..” oh she.. She wasn’t done? The young woman very confidently swept her hair back with her right hand, then with her left.. Doing what one can only describe as the ‘Glinda hair toss’ for all you wicked fans out there. For anyone who didn’t get that reference … a simple hair toss works i guess. “I don’t look a day over 20, what can I say, good genetics” she didn’t know her genetics, which made this even funnier.

Past job/work experience:
The woman held back a little laugh. The question itself wasn’t funny.. The idea of listing off every little job she works at was. Spoiler alert: there were a few - not all of them legal.. So she stuck to the safe ones! She was smarter than that I promise. “Well.. I’ve been workin’ since 18. Various jobs, waitress, host, bartender, cashier.. I actually still work for pretty much all of them. My longest one is Seikatsu, I’ve been there for.. Gosh.. years now. I started there back when they still had the karaoke booths, and stayed through the remodel. It becomes muscle memory after a while!” she let out a playful laugh, before moving on “Then there’s Yakedo amai, I’m also still working there and I’ve been there just a month or two less than Seikatsu, still there through the relocation and even got promoted to senior waiter, and get to help out the newer employees if they need it.” okay.. What else.. There was one more job what was it- oh! “I also work at Umisachi. I know, one woman with three jobs? Applying for a fourth? Unfortunately those are the sacrifices you gotta make when you’re a single mother. We haven’t done many openings with remodellings and such.. But when we do open again I usually do register or modelling, or even security if they need it!” She stopped, yap over, you’re welcome.

Degree/qualifications:
The woman’s face flushed with embarrassment. Oh dear. School. She had a hate-hate relationship with it.. Despite SOMEHOW making it through her masters. “I have a masters in literature .. somehow. Honestly graduating from high school to college seemed to be the farthest I’d get education wise.. I’ll never forget how proud my father was when I told him I’d not only graduated from a bachelors, but then gone and worked my way through a masters, while still raising my daughter.” She paused, thinking back to her child at home with her father, and praying she’d get to go home with some good news for once. “I got both of them right here in Karakura. I attempted a PHD and realised that they were hard.. So I dropped out. I don’t want to be called ‘doctor’ anyway, so I never saw the point.” She shrugged, guessing that brutal honesty would probably be her best bet here.

Nationality and born location:
Kamei sat silently for a long while. The woman had grown up an orphan so she had no idea where she was born.. All she knew was had spent more time in Japan and Korea than anywhere else. Her voice dropped to a hushed tone “I’m.. going to be entirely honest with you here, I have no idea where I was born. I was an orphan up until I turned 18.. No family, until my Korean father- Kaede, adopted me. Though.. I recently did an ancestry test just to figure a few questions out about my heritage. I'm Korean - allegedly born in Seoul. That’s all it gave me unfortunately, and even then I can’t decipher how true it really is.” She fell quiet again, bouncing her knee under the table - surely they couldn’t deny her a job for not knowing exactly where she was born? “Though I spent a lot of my teenage years in karakura, travelling back and forth between mainland and the island.”

Phone Number:
“Ah, yes, my phone number.. You’ll need that.. Bear with my one moment, I recently got a new one” The woman pulled her phone out briefly, opening it up to find her own contact number. “Here we go! It’s 030-629-4974” The brunette repeated it to herself quietly, before nodding. Yep! Right number!

How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:
Rena thought briefly, before answering “Under 150? Lets see.. Hard working, that’s for sure. Devoted too, once I start something I make sure to put everything I have into it. I do NOT like half-assing my work. Serious too.. Like don’t get me wrong, a bit of fun never hurts anyone, but there’s a time and place for it.. Ya know?” Was that 150? Probably not, but she didn’t care. Oh wait there was one more thing “Also a night-owl. I’m not the biggest fan of early mornings, but I definitely love working at night.”

What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:
The woman clutched both her report and interview folder in her hand. Okay, this was the easy part wasn’t it? “Well.. I’m interested in many things.. The occult- or well.. I should specify.. The kami, and other things like yokai and yurei, that kind of occult material. I have also recently started creating files on Karakura’s history.. Focused mainly on hotspots, such as the zen gardens and takagi hut. And of course the monastery. I think it’s good to get loads of publications out there about our town’s history, to help educate people.” That and she liked hyperfixating on the things she understood. “I know a few people around the city who have a deep understanding of these things, so I try and make arrangements with them if they’re free, of course I credit them in my works, I’m no plagiarist. That’s not to say I of course don’t do my fair share of research.” She paused, placing the small folder of her prepared materials down for them to take as they please. “As for my comfort zone? I have no problem approaching people for interviews, or even large crowds, let's just say my ‘comfort zone’ is probably the size of this island. There’s not much that phases me anymore!”

What are your expectations for the job?:
A quiet hum escaped the girls lips. “What else would one expect from a reporter position? Daily announcement.. Weather forecasts.. Songs of the day.. I’ve noticed lately a few of your reporters have started doing ‘shout-outs’ to members of the community, which is a nice nod of recognition to the people. I do look forward to writing larger-scale reports though, about the city itself, potentially doing interviews with the ems and kpd workers, to really get an inside scoop and make them seem more approachable to the public.” lets see.. She should probably talk more about the people she would potentially be calling co-workers.. “As far as my potential co-workers go.. As long as they respect me and my space, I’ll respect them. After all, respect is a two way street - you have to give it, to get it. Besides I’m a civil person, professional too, I expect about the same from the people I’d be working with.”

Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:
A smile crept across the woman’s face, for a brief moment it seemed prideful? It was hard to tell before it shifted to an innocent one. “A criminal record? Me? Nope!” Thankfully she was skilled enough to not have been caught, and her demeanour right now refused to give anything away. Her arms dropped back down to her lap, after tucking a bit of hair behind her ear. “I’m an innocent, upstanding citizen - never committed a crime in my life, unless you count jaywalking.” I wish I could tell you this was her saying it sarcastically.. Unfortunately, she was straight-faced and genuine about it the whole time, even as yet another glimpse of something flashed through her eyes.

Fluent Languages (Underline your native):
“Lets see.. I speak Japanese, obviously. I’m using it to talk to you now! But I also speak Korean thanks to my heritage and adopted family. We spend a lot of time in Korea so I tend to use that more than actual japanese most of the time, especially when I can’t think of the right way to say things.” Her fingertips tapped gently on her knee, not enough to be annoying or distracting, but just enough for her to keep her train of thought. “I also know JSL, I picked it up back when I was in highschool and it’s come in handy quite a few times actually.” She was very proud of herself for learning how to sign.

The sound of a recording starting could be heard. A pause came, before a woman's voice, as rich as liquid honey, spilled out into the recording. "Could you please state your name and today's date for the records, and verbally confirm that you consent for this interview to be published?"
Another female's voice replied, this one welcoming with a hint of an accent playing at it. "I am Ahri Maeng. Today's date is the 15th of August, and I consent t' this interview."
A brief pause, before the silken-voiced woman spoke again. "Miss Maeng, are you aware of how rich in history this island is?"
"of course! I've heard about like, the various regions that karakura has, like the Yagi Groves. I can't wait t' visit there someday. I've also heard about the old guard families, among other things. I, myself, am an Ogonshoku."
"I see, that's very interesting indeed! Tell me, how much history do you know about with regards to places like the zen garden, or the shrine and takagi hut?"

A pause, before the accented woman spoke again. "Ou.. about the zen garden? Not much. I've heard about the Takagi Hut bein' like, an old place of residence. The shrine? Not much either, I'm only aware of its current status."
The sound of papers rustling and being placed on a table could be heard in the silence between the questions. "Miss Maeng, as a resident of Karakura, do you wish that more information on the island's history was readily available to the public?"
An eager hum was picked up by the microphone. "Definitely! The only way I get information's from like, the occult club, when they have sharings, or if I take a trip t' the library, which I rarely do. . . . It would be amazin' if they were available as books or signposts around the city, like how museums do!"
"And would you, say. . . take an interest in potential news reports on the history? If a reporter were to say, conveniently publish the history, would that interest you?"

The eager tone continued, a direct contrast to the interviewers calm, almost maternal tone. "I would! I like readin' the news. And reporters make information easy t' read! They're very good at that."
A calming hum, as the buzz of the lights was briefly picked up on the recording - clearly, this had been recorded on a phone. "That's good to hear, Miss Maeng." A pause while the interviewer collected their train of thought. "If there were anything in Karakura you could learn more on the history of, what would it be? Is there a specific place that peaks your interest? Anywhere you've often wondered about the origins of?"
"Definitely! I'd love t' learn more about the history of things like, influential families! Y'know, I /am/ one after all. I'd love to know the implications of what it means to be an Ogonshoku. I'd also love t' learn about the history of outer-city places, like the Yagi Groves! A friend extended an invite t' me to visit some day."

Another pause as paper was moved and adjusted somewhere in the background and rain hammered against a nearby window. "And how would you prefer to receive such information, which would be easier? Interviews or new reports? Or perhaps a combination of both?"
"News reports! They're accessible anywhere."
"You mentioned earlier about museums? Do you think something like that could financially benefit an island like ours? Or do you worry that it may be overturned and left abandoned, as most places such as the public library, are?"
"with enough support, maybe. Like, hosted tours, regular upkeep and enough media coverage, I think it'll be fine! Hopefully, the school sponsors trips t' the museum. Places like the library and gym rarely get any upkeep. . ."
"I'm glad you mentioned the school and trips to locations like that."
A pause, the gentle beat of fingers tapping against a teacup could be heard. Not too loudly, but present. "As a team captain and student, do you wish the school did more of these? Or even collaborated with the island's historians more? If so, any other suggestions you have with regards to teaching the island's history?"
A cup was placed down on the other side of a counter, a small pause before the energetic voice spoke once more. "Certainly! School SHOULD do more of this, learnin' outside of the classroom is hella' important. I would urge the school t' place more emphasis on teaching the island's history. History teachers should do more than just talk 'theory' in the classroom.. They should bring their students OUTSIDE t' experience it too! Meet maidens of the shrine, talk t' professionals, maybe even traditional festivals that honour old Karakura."
"Wonderful, that's lovely to hear Miss Maeng"
A pause as a breath was taken, then the sound of a quiet cough could be heard. "And what of the public library? Would someone like yourself spend more time there with your peers if it had more to offer? More history? Perhaps even stored reports from the news teams?"
A very eager response followed "Yeah! More history, more reason to be there. Ooooh events held in the library.. back in Busan, they had book clubs and Sensor Beep over there!"
"Book clubs you say? Yes, I suppose there could be a way for the school's clubs, or even outside clubs to engage more with the space..."
The woman's voice trailed off briefly, before resuming promptly. "Thank you very much for your time today Miss Maeng, I'm sure you're a very busy woman so I will finish this quickly, yes? As I'm sure you're aware, our island holds a lot of Supernatural History, alongside the locations such as The Shrine, and Ochiba Forest, would it interest you in learning more about those? If information on things such as Yokai and Kami were more presently available to the public?"
"Ah no problem! I've got nothing on right now."
A pause, you could hear papers being put away in the background while the response was pending. "I do hope clubs engage more wit' spaces outside of school. I would love t' learn about those! As of now, I attend occult club sharings sometimes, but that's the only way I learn about this kinda information - it really should be made more presently available. Things like sharing stories, festivals, and talks about these topics could all be great ways!"
"Thank you for your time today, Miss Maeng, I will not keep you any longer"
The recording carried on in silence for a moment to ensure nothing was missed, before the sound of a click was heard and the audio cut off.
