Nahla’s Backstory

Before Karakura

Nahla Marchbank was nearly 10 when she learned how to run a house, fending for her sister who was a year younger from the neighborhood bullies, and scraping the floor clean with a straw broom. Daily dishes were the trouble, she’d procrastinate and realize her sister's discomfort with the mess in the kitchen though, whipping out the cleaning supplies immediately to cheer her up. The two girls had it rough although they always had enough and their mother often sent money for little things like groceries and clothes from abroad. Nahla’s mother was a traveler, and because of this, Nahla told the best bedtime stories. Late nights on the living room couch were where she and her sister would blab about where their mother could be, beaming with creativity flowing through their minds as they giggled away and made hand puppets, shining a flashlight to the ceiling. Life was mighty difficult for Nahla back then, she knew her sister depended on her and that was the only motivation that kept the little one going. Originally their grandmother would look after them, wise in her old age and smart enough to teach the girls to always be positive, she knew her little grandbabies would need it after her passing. A smart woman she was. Nahla’s grandmother had recently passed, which was why she had been balancing all the chores for the past few months with Danica, her sister. The two of them worked very hard to encourage each other not to give up; it was only when Nahla turned 15 that her mother realized how difficult their lives were without her encouragement and comfort although by then, Nahla and Danica learned to be independent together. The Aniohito family is a very forgiving family, their incredible acceptance for past mistakes dates far back from a long chain of obstinacy throughout the family, the girls mother knew they were upset with her for being away so long and she didn’t expect them to forgive her but they were taught well of their family heritage from their grandmother and welcomed their mother back home with open arms. Jessi would weep, relief from years of past regret settling in her mind as she explained her absence was in regards to their father’s passing. This was shocking to Nahla, she always assumed blindly that her mother was just a very hard worker so the three would hug each other with bright smiles on their faces, a family once more.

Father’s Death

Destined to die young with a disease called CIPA, Matthew Marchbank wrote for a living, praying he would leave a mark on this world in some way. He passed at the age of 24, Nahla was four years old so she hadn’t remembered much of him although her grandmother would always have a bright smile on her face when speaking of him. “Oh yes… My dear son.” She’d say whenever he was mentioned. Because of this humble behaviour Nahla’s grandmother had, she longed to know more of her father, reading his letter’s he had made the post office send to her yearly on her birthdays and poems he wrote to her mother. Although Nahla’s sister didn’t care much for their father and never had the time to, she was a bookworm, always studying, always learning. Danica was almost the complete opposite of Nahla, she was patient, she loved to learn and she enjoyed reading in loud spaces with a lot going on. The girls first views on their father were simple facts others around them would mention like how he was a good and respectable man, and people said that he was a bubbly, patient, daredevil like Nahla, while Danica, her sister was more quiet, feisty, and shy like their mother. “It was a shame, the fate he had to live with.” his family friends would mention at the end of every story they told of him. Nahla and her sister remember the funeral, sad but cheerful, so much crying and although her father’s short life span was known of, the church was filled with shocked expressions.

My Parents Love Story

Jessi lived in North Korea, Pyongyang with her parents and sister, only 14 when her parents divorced. At the time she had been bullied in school from her sister’s encouragement of some of the nastiest kid’s around their area, it was traumatizing and severely detrimental to her. This wasn’t her sister’s fault though, raised and encouraged to tease others by her father, Mituhono Aniohito was a victim in her own home but as her father continued to rally her and tell her how good of a daughter she was for hurting other’s, her mother grew a distaste for her father’s wrong doing, begging him to quit it, he never listened and instead quit their marriage, taking custody of Mituhono and disowning Jessi with a glare. Jessi never knew why her father disliked her to such an extent, she assumed her sister had said something or that it was because she took after her mother but that didn’t dismiss the fact she was incredibly hurt, her heart crushed by her fathers distance. From then on, Jessi’s mother promised to never allow anyone to treat her the way her father and sister did again and they both agreed to spend time together abroad, traveling and exploring the world together which is how they landed in Canada, British Columbia. British Columbia was a new scenery, something they had never really experienced before. A good mix of country, beach, and huge mountains, Canada became their favourite place, a happy medium. By the time the two settled in, Jessi had turned 15 and was determined to study hard so she could graduate. The girl was set on making her mother proud, something she couldn’t do for her father although there were plenty distractions with this new school came new friends and, Matthew who was a young Japanese European man. This is where it all happened guys, where love sprouted and created two beautiful flowers not before the wedding though.

[!] DING DONG, DING DONG, DING DONG, DING!

Wedding bells would ring, it was THE DAY, a day every women long’s for and Jessi was still in shock it was hers, pacing through the dressing room in her gown. As she stepped onto a long red carpet, looking at the guests around her, her mother stood from a rocking chair within the church wearing a proud smile as she walked her daughter down the Isle. There was no shame in her actions, the Aniohito family did things differently. Matthew grew a teethy smile, both him and the bride with flustered faces as the younglings said their vows.

“From this day forward, I Matthew Marchbank, promise to love you with all the love I can muster. I vow to be your shelter in the storm, your confidant in moments of uncertainty, and your joy in times of celebration. I promise to cherish the uniqueness that you bring into my life and to build a future that is rich with happiness, laughter, and shared dreams. I commit to being faithful, patient, and understanding, and to always finding ways to express my love for you. With these words, and all the love in my heart, I take you as my wife, and I am honored to be called your husband.”

“You know me better than anyone else in this world and somehow still you manage to love me. You are my best friend and one true love. There is still a part of me today that cannot believe that I’m the one who gets to marry you. I, Jessi Aniohito see these vows not as promises but as privileges: I get to laugh with you and cry with you; care for you and share with you. I get to run with you and walk with you; build with you and live with you.”

Two years of a beautiful and quiet marriage together and then suddenly the first little dumping Arrived, Nahla. By now, Matthew and Jessi were both 22, planning their short time left together with Matthew’s CIPA disease in mind. Matthew was working as a poet and Jessi worked for a small cafe across the street from their home, life was good and then out popped dumpling number two, Danica. The girls would giggle, chasing eachother through the house and in their path, lighting the peaceful home. Their were many restless nights when their father tried to finnish deadlines, their heads laying on his lap with little Z’s whisping softly from their breathes by the time he was done, this was the life of the Marchbanks.

Let’s Travel

Now that Nahla and Danica were older, 16 or so, they wanted to explore the world as their mother did, mainly intrigued by the stories of Japan that their mother raved about in the kitchen, she’d make meals from countries she had visited in the passed every week, they were finally a family once again but the girls were getting older. “You girl’s aren’t going to get any younger, so how would you like these?” Jessi had a huge smirk on her face as she handed them tickets to Japan, the first place she had traveled to when she was their age. The girls hopped around the dining room, waving the ticket’s in the air and thanking their mother. “Karakura is where you’ll find the best adventures.” Her mother mentioned, and off they went.

Nahla’s First Step Into Karakura

[!] Swooooosh~
The leaves fluttered as the summer's breeze finally washed by, relieving the construction workers within a little city called…

[Yelling] “KARAKURA CITY, WOAH!”
A little girl exclaimed, "She couldn’t have been older than 16." Nahla skipped and twirled while she explored this new city like it were in a fairy tale. “I was a bit concerned, to be honest… she looked delusional in my shoes.” A young man continued to blab “Well if you’re truly worried about her why don’t you go and introduce yourself, don’t be weird about it!” Two strangers argued in front of Nahla, she’d simply tilt her head in confusion before the young boy swooped her off her feet, sprinting into the forest with the second stranger behind him. “You new around here?” The young man asked, Nahla simply nodded in response, looking around at the scenery and noticing a campsite straight ahead. “Where are you taking me?” Was a question that jolted through Nahla’s head from the moment the boy swept her off her feet, using her voice to communicate it finally would relieve Nahla, especially once he responded, Opening a trap door on the ground in front of a tent so his friend could enter or even girlfriend? Who knew, Nahla certainly didn’t and wasn’t in the mood to ask questions. “It’s a cool secret area, more of my friends are inside.” Nahla tilted her head, this wasn’t the type of adventure she was expecting but she agreed to go along with it, climbing down the ladder into a room filled with up to 7 people or so. “Wow, it’s crowded…” She’d mention, later on, it seemed the few of them had somewhere to be, Nahla took her chance to leave as the others did and didn’t seem to encounter any of those people again.

It’s Lonely In this City

Notes and books were pinned to the reporter building pin board, Nahla skimmed through the board for anything exciting she could do to cure her boredom, noticing a booklet reading, ‘Azen Chitai Family’. Her younger sister already became invested in a family she was adopted into, she ranted about how popular it was and how much fun she had with her new family members so Nahla took it upon herself to apply to this ‘Azen Chitai Family’ in hopes she could also brag about how much fun she was having here.. This city that she realized was far different from what she was used to. As soon as Nahla got the news, she sprinted to her sister's apartment building, stomping up the stairs of Complex D, and flung the door open. “DANICA, THEY ACCEPTED ME INTO THE FUH- Family…” Nahla’s eyes welled with tears, feeling the souls of her feat become heavy as she felt her heart thump in her chest. “Danica…?” Nahla said with concern, her voice trailing off. She felt the living room fill with silence, a shiver rolling down her spine at the scene before her.

How did it happen?

Blood dripped from a cold and soggy rag, echoing as it splatted into the sink. It was still early morning at the time Nahla had witnessed her sister’s lifeless body lying still on the couch of Danica’s living room. “I have to clean the mess up for her.” is what zipped through her mind, still in shock. She couldn’t process what had happened, what she would do about it, or even fathom how it did. Nahla simply nealed to the ground in tears scrubbing the blood of her deceased baby sister from the dark oak floor although quickly feeling ill, she dashed to the bathroom throwing herself on the floor and vomiting. She was disgusted by herself, how could she allow this to happen and how could someone do this to someone she loved so dearly? “Another Murder, hm?” An older man hummed softly as he looked at a police officer, tilting his head just the slightest. “What a shame… The criminals are brutal in this city.” The detective replied after seeing the officer's sorrowful nod. “It’s that damn Powerplant, the thing encourages those insane thugs to group up.” The detective’s face filled with shock “You think this was done by more than one person?” Asked the detective, furrowing his eyebrows in curiosity as he looked back towards the officer. “Well for starters there's no proof this youngling was gang-affiliated, her file says she’s new around here and her teacher’s mentioned she was a quiet student, well-behaved too so let’s not think too much on that and more on how we're going to tell her family.” The officer looked at Nahla, frail as ever as she stood outside of her sister’s apartment “I’ll let you do your job though detective, for the sake of her older sister’s well-being. People go insane just from thinking, you're here to do that thinking for her.” The detective glared at the officer before suddenly smiling and chuckling softly. “Yes, I know how my job work’s officer, I’ll dismiss your rude behavior only because you're new here. Alright?” Nahla couldn’t help but listen in, hoping to get some sort of detail about her sister’s death from it but she grew uninterested after noticing the tension between them, she was too emotionally drained to listen on.

Family’s Through The Years

Azen Chitai
When Nahla moved to Karakura City she was invited by the Anzen Chitai family when she was about 16-17 but she was never very close with them all. They were always kind towards her, which made her feel loved but she didn’t feel at home. The reason she was adopted was her plan, she felt lonely with her younger sister, since they moved there so young, and Nahla had no control over it. Nahla looked around the city for a place to call home, Anzen Chitai gave her just that!

Jökull
Over time Nahla met someone special, now 18 and full of the energy and love given to her by the A.C (Anzen Chitai) family, she was ready to share that love with someone special. A friend and boss of her’s named Brayden Jökull ran a Mafia business, selling alcohol. His family always made her feel at home. Brayden was adopted into this family by a man named Pýrít Jökull, his father, Pýrít Jökull had no spouse. When Brayden and Nahla Married, Nahla was instantly a part of the family and Brayden's adoptive father became a great father figure for Nahla. Sadly, Nahla left Brayden realizing she wasn’t truly ready to commit to marriage, knowing she was too young. Think of it… Nahla raised herself and her sister for most of their lives, she is highly independent so realizing that she wasn’t ready and was still just a kid, hit HARD but if she hadn’t been with Brayden she would have never tried to find a way to enjoy the youthfulness of her life properly during the times it felt dull. Since her divorce, Nahla has become a pro at making the most of her days off and finding fun things to do when she isn’t busy.

Living as Marchbank
After her divorce, she took some time off to be reckless, visiting the powerplant with masks, weapons, and her two close friends, Crimson Bloodin and Haru Dike. One day Nahla went to the PowerPoint with Crimson and the police pulled up. Nahla and Crimson were forced to the wall but suddenly took their luck and bolted towards the alleyways between the houses from across the street but it still wasn’t enough and the both of them were chased, being sent to jail that day for being armed with illegal weapons. Nahla and Haru were already close friends through her marriage but grew even more fond of each other and became very close, sharing a kiss the night before it all happened so Nahla spent her time in jail impatiently, 6 months passed by slowly. Nahla was released, her friend Crimson already being released before the first month, due to Crimson’s wealth but Nahla refused any help that was pushed on her. When Nahla returned and was out of her cell she was told terrible news, news of Haru’s death. Nahla and Haru were the best and closest of friends, they sparred like puppies playing and Nahla considered him through her time in jail as a love interest. Nahla’s heart was crushed when finding that he had fallen in love with her cousin while she was away and that he and her cousin Kazuno were dating till the time of his death. Nahla spent her first month of freedom in many bottles of liquor, even during her school hours, where she was to be working. Her friends supported her through the time and allowed her to grieve, even when she was in such a pit of despair which Nahla respected dearly. Nahla, later on, met someone named Duroki, she and he became close friends and roommates, he soon graduated, he was a hard worker and he became a police officer, she couldn’t be more proud and of him, someone she thought of like a brother, she quit her alcoholic addiction because of him. Now a lot more happy it had been a few years and she and her friends decided to go to the lantern festival together which took place on the beach. That night ended in a terrible storm but also ended with someone Nahla thought of as a new lover. This man’s name was Yusuf and she soon found out he didn’t feel the same way, thinking of it as a one-night stand, he still invited he to hang out at a campfire beside the fishing pond in the forest with a large group of people. She hit it off with everyone but after coming back from a walk through the forest she saw him flirting with another woman, she confronted him and found out the truth then. He was not interested in relationships, she respected and understood although she was disappointed and liked him a lot.

Jeager
Nahla soon joined the Jeager family, the person who started it was like a brother to her and she agreed to support him in his dream. She loved having another family again, something she missed out on as a child, having a wholesome family like the experience she had in the Jeager family meant a lot to her. She lived in one of the apartments in the shopping district with him and the other members of the family, the house was often full and she loved it. Soon after Nahla met Colleen Shizuno, a shy little girl wearing a Pink Pajama top and brown skirt that had a pink belt. She was so young and spoke rarely to anyone but Nahla. Nahla adopted Colleen into the Jeager family and they both became the best of friends and the closest of sisters. Colleen became a big part of Nahla’s life, every choice Nahla made revolved around Colleen and Nahla did not regret it, she cared for Colleen dearly and so did anyone who met her.

Soon a sports event came around, Nahla felt she would miss the event but she was so tired, that she decided to have a nap in the bushes at school, she loved to have naps in nature at the time. When she woke up she found the sports event had already started, she sprinted to the track field and when looking for her phone to call her older brother to meet with him, found a note in her pocket reading saying she was cute, and to message a number displayed. Nahla thought it wouldn’t be so bad to try again with another man so she took her chances and messaged him. He told her to meet him at the picnic area on the side of the building and she went. That day Nahla met Kaiyo, someone Nahla loved truly.

These three people would change Nahla’s life positively and negatively.

Munakata
I will not go into detail about these three specific people and what happened between Nahla and them but will say, through it all, Colleen stayed with Nahla, even after becoming close with Nahla’s now ex, Kaiyo. Nahla left the Jeager family because of things between her and her brother, she was still with Kaiyo at the time visiting her new mother’s office often which was the school library. This librarian was only dating her new adoptive father, Yutaro Munakata who was a tutor but from the moment Nahla spoke with his girlfriend Hanai, she looked up to this woman. Nahla had never had a true motherly figure, her birth mother had always stayed away from Nahla in fear of ruining her wish of what she wanted her to be and because of her sadness in missing her husband, Nahla's father she distanced herself from Nahla and Nahla’s little sister to not curse them with the same depression she was left with. Hanai made Nahla realize what she was missing and it didn’t make her sad or upset that she missed that relationship with her birth mother, she was only thankful she had the chance to have someone like Hanai in her life. When Hanai and Yutaro married, Nahla wasn’t surprised and was utterly thrilled by the fact Hanai was officially her real mother by law. By then Kaiyo was long gone and Nahla had the chance to meet a wonderful man named Haise Togomi [Glitch] Icarus, someone like her adoptive father Yutaro as she wanted a man who was just as great as him. During the peak of their relationship Nahla had joined a gang which Haise was a part of and her close friend who Nahla had met Haise through, Blaire Togomi [Glitch] Monarch who was the leader. This gang is where Nahla gained the alias, Indica. Nahla and Haise were very close at this time, everything they did screamed couple goals, living together within the block K penthouse with the rest of their close friends and family as their neighbors. Although I think it’s important to mention that during the time Nahla was still together with her now ex Kaiyo, she pursued her dream of becoming a tailor which is where things became tricky… Nahla and Haise were together for very long but Nahla was absent quite often after leaving Man’en with him because she began to lean towards doing her work more, devoting herself to making clothing and during this time, she was so caught up in her work, and she hadn’t made the time for her relationship with Haise. Haise was like a father to Colleen when Nahla met him and Nahla was like a mother to Colleen as well, they had their own interesting family together but from Nahla’s absence it had set them all apart. Nahla was unaware of the strain her being away put on her family, she was so distracted on the future, even when their only fights were about her absence she hadn’t processed the true severity of it all and it cost her rarely close relationship with her mute sister Colleen and caused the loss of what she thought would forever be permanent which was her and Haise being together.

What is Man’en?

Man’en translates to “infestation” in Japanese

The title fits in every sense of the word. Man’en spreads their connections throughout Karakura everyday, and uses these connections to gain and document intelligence that can help them protect themselves using an alternative to violence. They also use this intelligence to help others when they ask, and if they don’t have the intel they are asked for, they work damn hard to get it.
Overview: Man'en is a gang centered around intelligence. This marks an unconventional approach in the realm of Karakura's gangs. Nevertheless, they have honed their skills in intelligence gathering and have constructed a formidable shield around themselves through their acquired knowledge. They aren't inherently aggressive, and violence typically arises as a defensive response when provoked. When feasible, they opt for information-based solutions to address their issues. This encompasses tactics such as blackmail, disseminating misinformation, and exposure, among other strategies. This doesn't imply that you should avoid them; if anything, it suggests quite the opposite.

No more boys…
Is what Nahla told herself after the relationship with her loved one Haise but of course, they kept coming, a few flings to pass the time and distract her from what had happened which inevitably brought her to Leo Itsuka, a devoted councilor. He was kind to her and she was able to talk of her past struggles with him simply listening, her listening to his as well. By then Nahla had become an employee at Yeobo, her first job at a shop although later on getting fired, she would be persuaded by Leo to try applying for Sayonara, a shop that had been around for quite a long time and payed very fairly with great managers, one of them being Leo. Of course Nahla knew Leo wouldn’t misuse his rank for her so she made a masterpiece of a job application and did amazingly well from what she was told, during the interviews overall bringing her to successfully be accepted as a Trail employee inside Sayonara. She was so thrilled and Leo praised her for how well she did on her application, seeming to be admittedly surprised by her hard work. Slightly before this, Nahla had been training to become apart of the female College basketball team, pursuing a lot of her time into training with Reise Auslesse and a few other girls named Valeria I Makrov, Mizuki Imai, Sumire Kojima, and Anju Ahuja who after training so hard, were accepted into the Females College Basketball Team. They were all very close already because of this, thrilled by their incredible luck and that accomplishment proved to them that each had their own unique and special talent in Basketball, clinging to the fact of that but still not confident enough to act ****y or have an obnoxious ego, continuing to work hard with the goal of getting second place in tournaments, a healthy and fair goal that they all believed was achievable. Their goal towards 2nd place in tournaments was in fact achieved when Basketball tournaments came around the corner although Nahla sadly was a no show, this brought her a lot of disappointment, although she was just thankful her team was able to accomplish the goal they shared and they all cheered her up about it without even trying, these new people in her life truly sparked a wave of great trust and even though Nahla wasn’t their for the tournaments, she felt accomplishment, continuing to train hard with her team for the next tournaments. Now before the time Nahla had become a member of the female basketball team, Leo Itsuka had marched forwards in his councilor position in the school, being titled as the new Vice President. Nahla praised him for his new achievement although because of this they kept their newfound relationship together on the down low, this was clearly a mistake in Nahla’s eyes, feeling like a stranger of sorts to Leo while he was in public around her. After the death of her sister, Machiko Munakata, Nahla grew a sense of depression which was something that was already lurking behind her before this event due to her wholehearted regret of how she managed her relations with her younger sister Colleen and ex boyfriend, Haise. When Machiko passed, Nahla was eager to find out how the deed had happened.

They say that the flap of a butterfly's wings can set off a hurricane on the other side of the world. The smallest actions, the most fleeting choices, can ripple outwards, triggering revolutions, wars, and catastrophes that seem unimaginable in the moment. What appears insignificant today can become the spark that ignites a blaze tomorrow.
When my sister died at the hands of Man'en, a part of me felt a twisted sense of relief, almost gratitude. Her madness had been a torment, and in a perverse way, her death felt like a release from the grip of her own demons. But there was another part of me—darker, more insistent—that believed it wasn’t just her who needed liberation. Man'en, too, was shackled, bound by chains of their leader's making. They, too, deserved freedom.
So, as Kansen's first act, we will free them. Not out of mercy, but as an act of justice. We will break their chains, even if it means dismantling the very world they have built. This isn’t about revenge—this is about liberation, for all of us.

The assassination of Artemis, the former Pale King of Man'en, was... surprisingly easy. I had expected a challenge, maybe even a moment of hesitation, but none of that happened. My original plan was simple: slip into her room while she slept and stab her in the heart—a quick, quiet end.
But her dogs were relentless. At her side at every second. So my irritation eventually reached a peak, and I decided to simply put her to sleep in the second that I needed to do so. Oh, how humans distract each other in the midst of conversation. Nonetheless, I hope she found the peace she needed, just like the goddess she was titled after.

"You did tell me to do it myself, didn't you?"

Nothing but sorrow fell over the man. His mind raced, head pounded, blood raced. This is not about him though. No no, it never was. He was nothing but a Dragonfly amongst others.
When I put the other to rest, I looked at him. He said he'd kill me, what a fool. I reminded him what exactly he was. Nothing but a tool. I felt the piercing blade run against my back, I made my escape and ran. I stayed hidden, watching the man leave the house where Artemis had been put to rest. He stumbled through the rain, bumping into things often. I watched him take his phone out, texting somebody. He had met with a woman, short brown hair surrounding her face, glasses rested on the bridge of her nose. She was beautiful. Nothing shy from the perfect description of a Japanese Woman.
I continued to follow. The man spoke in tongues, holding back tears, he explained the death of Artemis. I followed them to what seemed to be a cave of some sort in the mountain of Karakura. I heard tears fall and words snap at one another. Blades clash, skin sliced into and ripped open. The smell of blood and tears mixed was never my favorite. The man came up, blood reeked from him as it was visible from his face. A bloodied naginata held in his hand, I knew the job was completed. He was too much in his mind to even notice me.
As I walked down the area of the body. I noticed an odd presence, feeling, emotion? In the room. It was relief. I got a look at the body, A severed arm on the floor laying along with a great sword of sort, the tip of it stained with blood. As I collected a sample of the blood, I noticed a smile across the woman's face. What a sad sight to see, another person who yearned for their death. I rested the woman's eyes closed fully.

If you're reading this, it means my reign has come to an end. The era that was mine has passed, and a new leader will rise from the ashes. What better way to mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of another than with a dance among deities—a celebration of the inevitable cycle of power, where even gods bow to change.

He was exhausted, a man reduced to an empty shell by years of serving as nothing more than a tool—trained to take orders and give them, to snuff out lives and stand witness to the suffering he created. He was the one who tore my sister from this world, the last soul I was destined to guide toward peace, to offer rest. And I will fulfill that destiny, not with vengeance, but with mercy. In a blaze of comfort, I will be the warmth that leads him to his final rest, my embrace showing him the way down into the depths where all burdens are finally laid at peace. You will fall after facing the sun, Icarus.

Nahla was first told of the news by Moriel Maeng, mentioning he would tell her if he found out anything more about how everything happened. Later on in the week or even month Moriel reconnected with Nahla to tell her it was Ezio Calderon-Deluca. Ezio had known Nahla since she was in highschool, she’d seen him as a higher up and although her attitude towards him didn’t show it, she also saw him as family. This idiot of a nerd was not only the murderer of her sister but also Machiko’s close friend so I’m sure you can imagine that Nahla was stunned and steaming with anger as she planned her sister’s funeral unsure if she should call a bounty on him or kill him herself though she realized maybe there was a way she could help Ezio be less… Deh lulu. So she set off to threaten him, calling him to her mother’s house to speak with him. OF COURSE HE HAD TO BRING BLAIRE AND CHELLO [Glitch] Artemis INTO IT, two of her closest friends. This ruined all her plans, she knew the two of them had done some bad stuff but Nahla couldn’t bring herself to threaten him in front of them, instead Nahla just grew angry and asked to speak with Ezio privately, she knew they would never bring her into drama and so she wanted to avoid doing the same to Chello and Blaire. “You have to come to my sister’s funeral, you owe my family that much.” or something along the lines of that is what Nahla had confronted him with. Nahla found out he had been manipulated for years and that her sister’s death was caused by him finally cracking and completely losing it. Obviously, that didn’t make Nahla feel any better although she was stunned. As Ezio continued to reject Nahla’s forceful invitation to her sister’s funeral, she would weep in her dorm, distraught. Finally the day came for the funeral, Nahla had left Leo Itsuka by now. She didn’t trust him and her friend had already tested his loyalty, she didn’t believe he would stand by her side for much longer as they had already become distant from her lingering depression. As the Munakata’s and Maeng’s Entered the church, Nahla handed each a flower before she stood on the stage thing. A few people spoke of their memories of Machiko. Nahla knew the day would come when she’d lose another, but without Machiko, Emelia’s memory was no more.

After The Curse

Nahla has recovered from her sisters death and worked hard towards graduating College. Now she’s in the real world, what will she do?

After she left the auction house she noticed two strangers on the sidewalk across from the hospital, she’d raise an eyebrow and walk up to them, her hand warming in her pocket as the autumn wind whistled passed. “Skippidy doo ahh…! Skippidy DAY!” A young boy sang, the second stranger approaching him and singing along. This. Was. Nahla’s. Jam. She’d leap towards them, noticing the second stranger seemed far older than the young boy she would stop and look at him. “What’s your name?” She asked, tilting her head a bit afterwards. The man wore a quiet demeanor, simply replying- “Jin Ryu Lah-” “Mom can we go play volleyball!” The young boy asked, incidentally interrupting the man, Nahla grew shocked by the stranger’s comment although she played along with it. “Mom?- Well… Sure!” The boy jumped around in joy and looked at Jin. “You coming dad?” Jin seemed too tired to deny the request, simply going along with it too. Nahla drove the two of them to the beach, it’d be the last time she ever drove them again, the two men clinging to the sidewalk after stepping out of the car, just barely kissing the pavement. “You two alright?” Nahla would ask with sincere concern “Mom’s driving is scary…” The young boy commented and Jin would simply wave it off, although not denying that he didn’t agree with the boy’s remark. “Wuhh, I’m a great driver!” Nahla said as she skipped to the volleyball court. Later on that day, Nahla somehow convinced the two of them to the Monastery, a place she loved to visit. They looked off of the cliff, watching as the sun set. “So what are you going to name me?” The young boy asked. “You don’t have a name?” Nahla and Jin replied together, both confused and in shock, this poor boy they thought… “No I do! It’s Bartholomew.” The couple looked to one another with concern, now they felt remorseful. Nahla opened up her male names list and read out a few, Aztec was one that stood out to the three of them the most, therefore they decided to choose it.
Later on when the boy’s were gone doing their own thing Nahla found her sister Colleen, she knew it would be confusing to many people but this was a goal of Nahla’s for a while and something she always felt made sense to her. “Colleen, I want to adopt you.” Those words mimicked into another language through Colleen's mind, swimming around in her head.
