i'd also love to see some form of martial arts team, ideally kendo, implemented as we already have related items. this could easily be detailrp-based (i'm a big fan of detailrp-based teams, being a member of one myself) but, given relative numbers of people who seem to be interested in detailrp vs. plugin-based teams, it would also be cool to get a kendo plugin.
the mechanics slightly complicated, however, with four valid targets for striking: men (top of head), kote (wrist), dou (side of abdomen), and tsuki (throat.) a hit to one of the targets in a match constitutes ippon, or one point. matches are scored as the best of three points within a time limit. scoring is somewhat level-dependent but a good cut ought to have ki-ken-tai-ichi or spirit (demonstrated by a gutteral shout approximating the name of the cut), strike (a physical strike, the correct part of the shinai making contact with the correct part of the opponent's armor), and body (correct posture, grip, and stomping footwork) in unison. there are various techniques, or waza, which applied on a scenario-by-scenario basis. i'm by no means an expert or a qualified teacher but i do practice in real life so i am capable of explaining basic concepts if needed.
