What's your Minecraft Username?: YonioTheNacho
What's the title of your suggestion?: Onrain IC Moderation / (IC) Report Button
What's your suggestion?:
1. Introduction
While browsing through Onrain, I found out that it's surprisingly common to come across posts that break in-character laws, be it gang beat-ups, exposure of private IC information, or comments that would realistically lead to police arrests. These posts could negatively impact the roleplay experience for those who don't wish to engage in criminal roleplay and instead want to use it as a way to gossip or share their creative creations.
2. Summary
To mitigate this issue, I’ve come up with two potential solutions to reduce the visibility of crime-related content on Onrain. It would be up to staff to decide which of these is more feasible and beneficial to the community, granted this suggestion gets accepted.
How will this benefit the server and community?:
As described above, the upsides to this suggestion are:
I understand that the crime community may not be content with this suggestion, and I do agree that it would take away from this sub-faction's exposure despite all of the points I've made above. I'll be more than glad to engage in the comments of this thread and hear you out! ^^

2. Summary
To mitigate this issue, I’ve come up with two potential solutions to reduce the visibility of crime-related content on Onrain. It would be up to staff to decide which of these is more feasible and beneficial to the community, granted this suggestion gets accepted.
1. Implementing a "Report" button.
Introduce a [Report Post] button to each post on Onrain, allowing registered users to flag posts that violate IC rules. If necessary, these reports could be sent to a dedicated Discord Channel via Webhook/API, which would alert Onrain Staff* without tagging anyone (to avoid having users randomly mass-reporting posts).
*As mentioned earlier, I used the term “Onrain Staff” because this in-character moderation responsibility shouldn’t just fall on Tippie’s CEO character. While I think he’s fully capable of handling it, it would be more practical to relay this task to new Onrain IC workers. Doing this would share the workload appropriately and make it easier for reports to be handled more consistently. In addition to this, Onrain moderators should probably be either Community Team members or Staff Members (depending on whether these moderators would have the power to straight-up delete posts or just flag them as "hidden" while Tippie manually deletes them).
2. Disallowing crime-related posts on Onrain (OOCly)
The other option would be to OOCly prohibit crime-related content (excluding rivalry or petty crimes, of course) from being posted on Onrain. While I personally don't support this option as much, SchoolRP's main outlook is meant to be more "Slice-of-Life", rather than criminality and illegal roleplay in mainstream media.
It's also worth noting that criminals already have their own platform; Ikigai. By allowing members of the GangRP faction to post these same posts on Onrain, the only downside to posting this media on a much more popular platform would be a potential arrest (However, I'm unsure how easy officers have it to access this information from a single Onrain staff character).
However, this second idea could be perceived by the crime community as an OOC move to suppress their presence in the server. If staff chooses this route, I’d recommend carefully considering the community impact before proceeding with such a big change.
How will this benefit the server and community?:
As described above, the upsides to this suggestion are:
- Giving more roleplay possibilities to new IC Onrain Staff, similarly to how Ikigai staff get to interact with other members of their platform
- New players (who actually tend to use Onrain quite often) would be steered away from CrimeRP, a part of the server that they don't want to / aren't yet ready to engage in.
- Ikigai's activity could increase as an indirect result to this, as people would find that this is the only "social media" they should use for crime content.
- While I don't like using this term in suggestion, it would be more realistic and immersive for a platform as mainstream as Onrain to have moderation tools to keep ICly prohibited content out of people's feed.
I understand that the crime community may not be content with this suggestion, and I do agree that it would take away from this sub-faction's exposure despite all of the points I've made above. I'll be more than glad to engage in the comments of this thread and hear you out! ^^
