WHAT YOU WANT TO SUGGEST OR MENTION: Onrain!! The silly little website that has now returned has a /lot/ of issues that have become pretty apparent. Personally, as someone who has loved the idea of the website ever since the first rendition of it I would like to suggest some things to make it more enjoyable because as of right now it unfortunately is not. Many many bugs have shown themself, I’m sure the majority if not all you are aware of, and even without them there are some things that are just.. missing. Things that albeit won’t change much, would be very nice to have.
To begin this, I’ll just list all of the direct issues that I’ve seen so far. Again, I’m sure you’re aware of most but just in case.

Overall as much as I love the idea of onrain, reintroducing it & the website as a whole seems rushed to say the least. Little time seems to have been taken to ensure that it would run smoothly once the public has access to it, and it’s lacking in a lot of aspects. I just really don’t want it to end up with the same lifespan as the previous one.

Personally, as someone who has loved the idea of the website ever since the first rendition of it I would like to suggest some things to make it more enjoyable because as of right now it unfortunately is not. Many many bugs have shown themself, I’m sure the majority if not all you are aware of, and even without them there are some things that are just.. missing. Things that albeit won’t change much, would be very nice to have.
To begin this, I’ll just list all of the direct issues that I’ve seen so far. Again, I’m sure you’re aware of most but just in case.
- Home feed won’t refresh for long periods of time, and when it does refresh it only shows you 1-2 new posts, everything else if you scroll is from hours ago.
- To go with that, if you do scroll in hopes of finding something new amidst all the posts you’ve already seen, there’s a good chance you’ll find the same post you’ve already seen while scrolling several times (I have a screen recording of this one if needed)
- If you get a notification from someone commenting on your post, and you click the “posts” button to see what they commented on, it just links you back to the main page rather than bringing you to the post itself.
- You get notifications when replying to your own posts
- You can’t click on people’s profiles from comments made, you have to search them up separately
- Images (self explanatory)
- You can’t go on to the next line in your bio
- Can’t check followers/following
- Can’t @ people
- The website consistently will log you out (not necessarily an issue but it’s sure as hell inconvenient)
- On mobile you can’t check the followers/following count, nor can you search. (No search bar whatsoever)
Be clearer when creating an account
This one’s simple but I, and I know some other people when first creating our account as a whole thought we would be making each account for a character separately, would need to log in & out every time and all that. This meaning we created the accounts with the characters username rather than something specific to yourself, or something that might be more memorable to you. It’s not clearly stated anywhere that once we’re in we’ll be able to make them all within that main account, and that you weren’t meant to create the account itself under your character’s details. This one is moreso for the future, when newer players create an account, and it really isn’t much more than an inconvenience having to remember a username and password that I don’t use for anything else, but it is annoying that isn’t stated anywhere until its too late.
Also, going hand in hand with that add a way to edit the main accounts details when in. Currently there’s no way to edit your account at all unless you want to edit the character’s.
Allow separate phone numbers
This one’s straight to the point but please add a way to put accounts under separate phone numbers. I don’t want to get messages for my adult character while on a highschool account, it doesn’t help at all. And with for example, the team group chats moving onto onrain rather than in discord, if you didn’t set up your account with the phone number that you use on your team account you won’t get the notifications on the right account when you need them.
Change your username
Let us change the username set for our character.. please
Limit the accounts people can make
This one is one I’m really torn on because, let people go crazy and make accounts. Let them have fun. But then it gets to a point where you can clearly see people making spam accounts for no reason other than to boost their character’s following. Doesn’t really hurt anyone, but I doubt you all really intended for people to sit there for hours constantly creating new brand accounts, or accounts with just letters for names to do nothing, never post, only follow one person and go inactive completely.
QOL seeing stuff..
Going to lump a few of my suggestions in with this one. For starters, mentioned above in the issues with how you can’t see followers/following. That may have been intentional, not sure, but we should be able to see that type of stuff. Be able to look through who we’re following and who follows us. Alongside that we should be able to see little things like if we were to go onto someone’s profile if they follow us or not. Similar to how if you go onto twitter you can see “follows you” next to a person’s name if they follow you. And!! Let us see who likes a post. Give us a little notification whenever a post gets a new like with whoever the like is from. It’s not much but it’d be nice rather than being completely clueless on that front.
User list
One of the biggest things I want to see is just a list of users. As of right now we can find users through one of four ways; the suggested profiles, new profiles, searching them up, or just on your home feed (though the 4th is unlikely with how rarely it updates). It’s annoying to find people you want to follow unless you actually seek them out. The suggested & new profiles idea is cool, I like it & I want it to stay, but those shouldn’t be the only ways we directly see profiles. The new profiles are typically full of either people you won’t care for, or people spam making new accounts for the sake of boosting their followers. And the suggested profiles are cool, but you’re just stuck with the people who have the most followers from who you follow.. there’s no way to refresh it or look past the top 5.
Rather than only having profiles listed on the home tab with 10 max, there should be another tab at the top to switch over to profiles. A list of just every profile on onrain, could be sorted however you deem fit (followers, new, etc.), while keeping separate tabs within of suggested and new accounts. Add a way to just scroll through all the members of onrain.
Trending list !!!
This was one of my favorite aspects of the older onrain, having a trending tab with just the most said words/phrases at the time. It’s not much but it’s a cute aspect that I’d love to have back. Knowing what most people are talking about without having to look through everyone’s messages to see a pattern. Hell, I miss when me and some friends tried to keep something in #1 trending while another group of people was doing the same.

Last thing I want to go over is the whole messages system. As of right now it’s really cute, I enjoy it, but on the website itself you should be able to do a couple things with it. Let us close existing dms. If you don’t want to see a specific person's message, you should be able to close out of it.
