List your current roles on the server:
I am currently an AP Professor.

What experiences do you have with roleplay?:
I have been playing SRP for quite some years now and have had the pleasure of being involved in several different groups and factions. My most prominent of them being the Academic faction where I was previously a member of the High School Female Volleyball team for roughly a year and am currently a member of the High School Female Football team , my character being Kaaha Istar, as well as an AP Professor , Nakayama Nobuyuki. Through these roles I have seen both sides of the school as a student as well as a faculty member which have allowed me to expand my roleplay in several ways.

Not only that but I have been involved in several aspects of the town as well, whether this be in the shopping district or the Hospital. Previously, I worked as a doctor in the Hospital faction where I gained vital skills and knowledge including the likes of Hospital rules, procedures and roleplay standards. As previously mentioned before, I am now currently heavily involved in the shopping district of the town as I am a supervisor for Jaibatsume Cosmetology.

What is your motivation for applying?
As mentioned before I was previously a member of the Hospital faction as a Doctor where I passed my residency however, due to commitment issues at the time I had to leave shortly after. Now, due to my increase in free time and the finishing of my studies I am wanting to try and take a step into the faction again as I have been missing it.
Even when I was previously in the faction the psychiatry department of the Hospital always intrigued me due to the unique side of the hospital, it's doctors and their patients that I didn't really get to see previously. If given the opportunity i’d love to experience this side of the hospital and all of the possible interactions I may gain from it as I really would like to get involved in the faction itself again!

Which role are you applying for?
Psychiatrist

What knowledge do you have of the roles within the Hospital Faction?
There are two main departments to the Hospital, these being the Doctor and Psychiatry department where you can also gain a Paramedic and Veterinary certification. In these two departments there are several different roles and stations for staff to attend to. Traditionally these roles are as follows: a trainee to a resident, a resident to a senior resident, a senior resident to an attending and then an attending to a clinical supervisor and the clinical lead. Finally, at the top of this all we have the clinical manager and the hospital director!

In these departments there are several different roles and stations for staff to attend to. Traditionally these roles are as follows, trainee/ resident to Clinical Supervisor to Clinical Lead to Clinical Manager and then Hospital Director.
I also have an understanding of the general hospital protocols and procedures however I may be a bit rusty.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
I do!

It was in the early months of 1971 that Merrick Yeshua Aue was born in a small coastal town in the Scottish harbours. It was from early on that his parents considered him to be their greatest achievement and when he showed a great interest and talent in medicine, particularly the mind, they were overjoyed about the possible prospects from their only son. His mother, Ailis Aue, was a well respected and dedicated nurse in their hometown. It was often that throughout his childhood Merrick and his mother could be seen going around the town together visiting patients and delivering medication to those who may have needed it. It was from this invaluable time with his mother that his love for medicine grew, seeing the dedication to her profession and patients instilled a deep curiosity and empathy in him, regarding those around him with a level of understanding that would only grow as he began to study.

Despite his upbringing, his parents saw the bright and burning curiosity in their son as he grew. Constantly in school, Merrick was regarded as the top student in his year and subsequently due to his hard working nature and unwavering dedication, which he would say he learned from his father, he was offered a full ride scholarship to a private institution in Aberdeen. This is where he would stay for the entirety of his schooling. Constantly challenged both academically and socially, Merrick thrived in this sort of environment. Never wanting to back down or show his back to those that may disregard him, the young man would rise to the occasion and nurture his interest. With his spark for the mind never dying, Merrick pursued his interests all the way to medical school; where he was granted a place in a prestigious medical program in the country.

From 1989 to 1995, Merrick undertook his time at medical school where he stayed for five years to gain his medical degree; he intercalated another year into his time here to complete a BSc degree in Psychology .
He then went through his foundation training for another two years where he experienced several clinical rotations including the likes of psychiatry, which intrigued him more than he could have ever hoped. It was then for three years that he completed his core psychiatry training where he trained in several different subspecialties within psychiatry; at the end of it all he completed his MRCPsych exam.
He then partook in his Higher psychiatry training for another three years where he completed speciality in child and adolescent psychiatry, he did a subspecialty in perinatal, social and rehabilitation psychiatry at the same time.
It was during his training that Merrick saw several ups and downs, changing his perspective on life a bit more. During his clinical rotations the aspiring doctors' empathy and pure care and admiration for his patients shone through unlike anyone around him. It was during his psychiatric rotations that he was truly impacted by those around him, now closely understanding the real power of compassionate care that his mother always preached to him around the village, not only taking the patient's symptoms into consideration; but also the patient as a whole person . Those on the ward soon adopted a fitting name for him, ‘the gentle giant’; not that they’d ever say that in earshot of him though!

By the end of 2003 Merrick had well and truly completed his residency and medical training, gaining an outstanding and unique reputation in the field as an equally compassionate and skilled psychiatrist. Soon after his finish, Merrick would find himself travelling to England, more specifically London, as he accepted a psychiatrist position in a prominent mental health clinic in the city. It was here that he dedicated most of his time helping patients through their trauma and grief through counselling sessions.
He should be grateful to his time in London really as it led him straight into the arms of the love of his life, Isla; an ever talented and gently radiant woman. Their relationship blossomed quickly and their true love became a testament to time, marrying a short two years after the first met. It was another two years into their marriage that Merrick and Isla had the pleasure of welcoming their beloved daughter, Lillia, his little light into the world. The power couple were devoted parents to Lillias, always finding a surplus of time to commit to their child; priding themselves on being able to create an environment where the whole family felt welcomed.

It was in 2010 that single handedly the most gut wrenching, heart crushing, experience Merrick ever had to go through occurred. On a late summer evening in their London home Merrick felt a constant sense of illease follow him through the day as he cared for both his ill daughter and wife at home, just a nasty case of the cold is all. However, all of his worries and doubts throughout the day seemed to come into full bloom as he began to smell smoke, smoke? Why was their smoke in the house? With his senses beginning to pulse into overdrive and his hearing began to white out Merricks only thought was to get his wife and daughter out. The smoke soon turned to flames and spread widely all throughout the house, ripping the once serene scene into something now so deadly. Fighting through the unbearable heat and smoke to where his wife and daughter slept their illness away, Merrick looked down at their sleeping forms screaming at himself to choose. . choose who to save from the flames first, choose between the two greatest things in his life; his wife or his child. A simple “go” from his love was all he needed to barrel his little light away from the flames, pulling her free from their vicious grip and into safety. Not being able to see his wife go so soon, Merrick fought his way past the never ending bodies of the firefighters and paramedics that had arrived at the scene back into his crumbling home. No, it would not be a home if his wife wasn’t there to share it with him.
Carrying his wife's shivering form out of the house was one of the hardest things he’s ever had to do. Fighting through each flame as it licked his skin and the smoke as it tickled his lung made his mission to see his wife safe seem impossible. It wasn’t until one of the supporting beams collapsed on his hand on his descent downwards and out of the house that his hearing began to sharpen and his determination steeled again; finally escaping the hell they had found themselves in.
His heart and light die that day with the fire's flames.
All that was left behind was a shattered shell of a man. The burn scar on his hand only to constantly serve as a never ending reminder of all that he lost.
In the years to follow Merrick and his grief spiralled out of control, a never ending cycle of grief and despair at the thought that he did this followed him around wherever he went. In his despair the young man would throw himself into his work, taking on whatever case he could all so he didn’t have to return to an empty house that would never be his home. Case after case, patient after patient and all he could see was his dear Isla, Lillia and his failure to protect them.
It wasn’t until years later when Merrick had turned 52 that he took on a young patient, a widow, that his life began to twist in a way he wasn’t sure of. It was from the young man's own pain and grief that Merrick was confronted with his own feelings, reigniting the spark of passion he once thought lost in order to help the young man get through this. It was a slow process, it truly was, but through their shared pain both men came out on the better side of their grief. Even though the scar on his hand never left him, what once stood as a constant reminder of his failure now symbolised something more, something unwavering.

Taking a new step in life Merrick had made the move to Karakura, Japan, all in the hopes to start anew.

✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?

He specialises in child and adolescent psychiatry with a subspeciality in rehabilitation and grief psychiatry. He chose this field as to him it is the best way he can directly affect a patient and connect with them. His compassionate and empathetic approach to patients and their care made it easier to bond with them and help them through their tough times.

What medical residencies did your character take after medical school?
From 1989 to 1994, Merrick undertook his time at medical school where he stayed for five years to gain his medical degree.
He then partook in his Higher psychiatry training for another three years where he completed his speciality in child and adolescent psychiatry, he did a subspecialty in perinatal, social and rehabilitation psychiatry at the same time.

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?
Marrick had previously worked in a mental health clinic in London for roughly 19 years, in between his bereavement break. He partook in several roles during his time here including patient treatment as well as writing research papers on topics of interest. It was also with his wife that they completed quite a few charity events that resonated with them as well.

Has your character completed any additional schooling?
Apart from his time in medical school and gaining his psychiatry training Merrick has not completed any additional schooling.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE
Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique? How would they be perceived by others?
Being dubbed “the gentle giant” was not for nothing.
Merrick Yeshua Aue is a 53 year old Scottish male with an abundance of a caring nature. Even at his age he stands at a good 5 '6’’ 140lbs yet, despite his stature and what you might expect from him his aura exudes a warmth that is hard to come by these days. His dark skin acts a gentle contrast to his lightly scattering salt and pepper hair that does a wonderful job at framing his face, becoming a nice compliment to his full beard. If you take a closer look at Merrick you would be able to see several crows feet around his eyes and smile lines surrounding his mouth from all his years of work; creating a welcoming look to the older male. Taking a look away from his face he’d have quite a large burn scar on his right hand that seems to escape up into his arm. Merrick would not be one to go into the origins of the scar himself however, if asked he is open about its story.

How does your character act on and off duty?
Both on and off duty Merrick, is an open individual, priding himself on being the same person whether he is on or off shift. There are a few differences to his shift behaviour though as Merrick understands the importance of a professional demeanour especially with those you see yourself working with for the foreseeable future. Whilst in the hospital you would be seeing the partially relaxed, empathetic and supportive man that is always around yet, at the same time there's also a side of ****ytical attentiveness that you might not see off shift.
This attentiveness is still there yet, his demeanour may seem more relaxed and informal outside of the hospital due to the great work homelife balance Merrick has tried to create for himself. When off shift Merricks main goal is to just decompress and relax from what may have gone on in the hospital, processing whatever happened and either getting through it or coming up with better ways to help those back at his workplace.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?
Merrick would consider himself not to be greatly affected whether he was on his own or with others, yes there are times that he would need to be alone like anyone else. However, on a regular day he could easily switch from being alone to a group of people and still function as his normal self. If he was with others he’d openly share his part of the conversation or activity whenever needed, him being shy would only hinder him after all. Yet, if he was alone he could easily weigh pros and cons of situations himself, creating the best possible outcome for everyone. No matter the situation Merrick would always swear the standard of his work to be the same and never swayed by outside factors.

What plans does your character have for the future?
This is Merricks future. After what has happened to him and his family back in London a fresh start is what the elder man desperately needed. Determined to create a life for himself in Karakura, Merrick is dedicated to whatever may come his way, whether this may be in the form of life or work; Merrick is more than ready. Whilst he is determined for a fresh start he can’t just leave behind the profession he has ever so gently built up for himself, he could never leave behind patients like that. So, for the foreseeable future he wishes to continue on doing what he loves and help those around him; whether this in the form of patient care or something else.

Additional notes:
I would highly recommend to listen to a sad song when reading his backstory, sorry not sorry </3
