None to my knowledge.

Describe your activity on the server:
I’d personally say my activity on SRP is pretty good. I’m on for upwards of two hours on the days I get on, usually more, especially if it’s a weekend or my day off. On most weekdays (excluding Wednesdays) I’m at college, so I aim to get online from around 6:30PM-7:00PM (sometimes later, depending on circumstance) and stay on until around 11:00PM. On the days I have off, which are Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, I’m usually on from after I eat my lunch until around 11:00PM, sometimes later, unless I’m busy (which I’d say is rare, but not an impossible occurrence).

What is your timezone?:

What experiences do you have with roleplay?:
To start with, I’ve been part of SRP since 2020. I’ve taken a few breaks here and there, some a lot longer than others, so the bulk of my SRP experience comes from early 2020 and early 2023. Early 2020 mainly consisted of me getting used to meeting new people, learning rules and having a fun time! Also, around that time, Roleplay Maker came out, which I spent a while creating an experience for other people. Unfortunately, that took a lot more planning, time and patience that a much younger version of myself did not have, so it never became public. Throughout late 2020 and early 2021, I became active again, creating my longest-lasting character and having an absolute blast with her. Going through RomanceRP, FamilyRP and even delving into CrimeRP, it was definitely an interesting era. After that, I took a pretty long break, mainly for my GCSEs and transfer to college, only hopping on during 2022 to wander around and spy on people’s conversations for around half an hour, before logging off and forgetting about it again. In 2023, I joined back completely randomly, and actually made a few friends. I felt bad for ditching them, so I kept coming back. And kind of… didn’t stop coming back?. And… that leads us to now.

Under my belt, I confidently have experience with FamilyRP, FacultyRP and RomanceRP. I have a little bit of experience with CrimeRP, and though I am satisfied with my DetailRP stuff… I’ve really never done it with people watching. And obviously, I have experience with roleplaying in general. I hope to add HospitalRP to my silly little list (collecting faction experience like Pokémon cards).

I think my other faction experience - being in faculty - is definitely a key part of my roleplaying experience. It’s given me a lot of practice dealing with the majority of the playerbase (highschool students) and also has helped me develop my skills in roleplaying adult characters! The subjects I’ve taught haven’t really been very DetailRP-oriented (Geography, Floriography and currently Creative Writing; all very info-heavy subjects rather than letting students DetailRP), but I feel like my typing speed has increased so much since having to fit a certain amount of information in a twenty-five minute (if that) time period. That seems like something important to have as a member of the EMS! Plus, the role I’m applying for seems to be less DetailRP-oriented (being Psychiatrist), so I’m hoping my less developed detailing experience doesn’t impact my chances too much!

Outside of SRP, I’ve taken part in a couple of Discord-based RPs with both friends and strangers. It pains me to admit, but Roblox was also a pretty big part of me developing my roleplay skills, along with a small WhatsApp roleplay that I partook in with a few of my close friends at the time. I’ve roleplayed for a lot of my life. It’s a pretty important thing to me.

What is your motivation for applying?
I’d like a new experience in roleplay, in the simplest and most straightforward terms. I’ve been a professor for over five months, and a HS student for even longer than that. As much as I love being in these roles, a breath of fresh air is something I feel that I’d benefit from. And since I adore being in these roles, and the amount of fun I have being in the school faction, I don’t want to leave them despite the fact that I’d love to try out being in EMS!

Further, the work of EMS has always interested me, with a few of my characters getting into situations that require going to the hospital (most notably: a past character getting her hand bitten off by a bear…) and the work of the staff seems really rewarding! I’d still like to help out the people of Karakura, but in a different way to what I’m currently doing. It also helps that I have a couple of friends in the faction, and they’re always gushing about how fun it is. That, and the faction itself seems quite fun. I’ll admit, I’ve usually kept an eye on the #screenshots channel in the emergency discord and, despite most of it being KPD, the EMS moments do shine through. Though, that’d just be a small reason as to why I’m applying. Overall, my motivation is change and to help others - the ability to help is a particularly pushing motivator.

Which role are you applying for?
Psychiatrist

What knowledge do you have of Hospital Work?
I’d say I know the basics of Hospital Work, but I’m really not sure what the basics actually covers… But! I did do some research into the different roles, and I do have a little tiny bit of prior knowledge of injury symptoms due to my hobby of creative writing (though that isn’t particularly relevant to the role of a Psych…)! Regardless of my lack of knowledge compared to other applicants, I’m fully prepared to dedicate myself to training, and to learning more about hospital work. It sounds like a really rewarding experience.

DOCTOR
A doctor’s job is a very important one within a hospital environment. They specialise in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of illnesses. Furthermore, they also have a highly important job of treating injuries of patients (including, but not limited to: broken bones, concussions, and dismemberment) and providing comfortable and safe recovery. Recently, within SRP, doctors are also expected to carry out the responsibilities of surgeons, which are to perform surgeries. Doctors are also able to prescribe medication and offer advice to patients about how to keep their health the best it can be.

PSYCHIATRIST
A psychiatrist’s job is also a very important one within a hospital environment. These people specialise in mental health to assess and diagnose mental illness. They look over both the mental and physical parts of these issues while also focusing on the prevention of these mental health conditions. Furthermore, they’re qualified to help with various other things, such as treating conditions and helping with certain behaviours (specifically addictive, violent, sleeping & obsessive). There is a difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist too: psychiatrists are medical doctors who prescribe medicine, diagnose mental illnesses and manage treatment. They can also provide a range of therapy for said diagnosed illnesses, no matter how complex and serious. Psychologists specialise in talk therapy (psychotherapy) to help patients.

PARAMEDIC
Paramedics are new to the hospital faction, but that does not mean that their job is not important. They take on the work and responsibilities of both doctors and psychiatrists in a medical emergency situation. They’re usually deployed out of the hospital in light of an emergency called in from the emergency number in an ambulance. One important skill of a paramedic is the ability to have quick judgement and skills to figure out the severity of a patient’s condition and to make decisions that could save their life. A few key skills of theirs include resuscitation and field treatment.

Do you acknowledge that you’re subject to being demoted at any given time if accepted?
Yes.

Do you acknowledge that by applying for this role, you agree to be 100% dedicated to the Hospital Staff role?
I will be 100% dedicated to this role.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
I understand this.

Do you acknowledge that you are NOT to take things OOCly when dealing with training & situations?
Yes.

Backstory (100+ Words)
Naomi Inoue was born in Kyoto, Japan on October 4th, 1991 to his parents Kiyoshi and Hina Inoue. His parents worked in two vastly different jobs: his father as a negotiations officer at a call firm and his mother as a highschool teacher. He grew up in a very loving and accepting household, despite the fact that both of his parents were often quite neglectful to his mental state due to them being busy all of the time trying to make ends meet.

Due to this neglect, Naomi often found himself playing on the streets of their estate with his friends from school into the late hours of the night: his parents never realised he was gone unless he wasn’t back by 10PM, which was when his mother returned from school after a long day of teaching, overseeing detention and marking any schoolwork. It was on one of these nights, aged 12, that he was involved in an accident that would change his life forever.

In hindsight, the fact that one of his ‘friends’ had brought acid that they’d stolen from the school to their normal late-night mess around was a bit suspicious, but Naomi has always been a naive one. The acid was brought, alongside some stolen magnesium from the science department, to test how the metal would react with the acid, as they’d been shown earlier that week that the magnesium glowed a vibrant white when lit on fire. The local residents had never heard screams so loud as the acid was accidentally splashed onto Naomi’s right eye, burning it beyond use. And if that wasn’t bad enough, his right pinkie got caught on a sharp piece of glass, severing it half off.

Yeah, that wasn’t the nicest experience for him at all. Both his eye and his pinkie were replaced by prosthetics within a few years, being beyond repair. His parents never left him alone, or allowed him to leave the house too much after that. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the correlation.

After the accident, Naomi was admitted into therapy and talked to multiple people about his issues and learned how to live with his prosthetics. He was also diagnosed with PTSD during this, due to the event, along with autism and anxiety. It was a difficult journey, but he got used to living with everything new that had been forced on him. At the age of 18, he graduated highschool - the same highschool that his mother taught at - and gained his diploma.

He moved to England to study for a Psychiatry degree at Cambridge University. The work of the people who had helped him recover somewhat from his trauma had inspired him to take that career path, and he wanted to get a job in that area for that reason, and the reason that it paid well - he wanted to support his parents as much as he could as he knew they were still struggling financially. During his time at Cambridge he made a plethora of new friends and really enjoyed his time there! Not only did he learn English, but he also learned Korean as an optional foreign language class. He graduated at the age of 28 with a PhD in Psychiatry.

After graduation, he moved back to Japan. He stayed in Kyoto with his parents for a few months as he hadn’t seen them in almost 10 years, but soon moved to Tokyo as he’d found a vacancy in one of the largest hospitals in the city. He worked there for two years before deciding he hated how busy and loud the place was. Eventually, after talking to his the******, his parents and his friends at the time, he made the decision to move to the small island housing the city of Karakura in search of a quieter job.

SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY

What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?

Specialty: Forensic Psychiatry
Naomi chose this focus primarily because of his strong interest in the minds of criminals. This interest was amplified after taking an impromptu Criminology course in university, and led onto him finding the forensic psychiatry branch. Luckily, it was just as exciting as he thought it would be and enjoyed learning about it thoroughly. Taking the course was a rather impulsive decision, but it was definitely driven by his at-the-time fixation on true crime documentaries. Something about figuring out how the minds of those criminals worked really struck a cord in him and, well, he wanted to learn more! And so, he did.

What medical residencies did your character take after medical school?
Naomi took a medical residency at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, England, for four years before moving back to Japan in search of a job in his home country. It was during the final four years of gaining his PhD degree at Cambridge Medical School, as he was still qualified during this time. He also took a two-year medical residency in JR Tokyo General Hospital before moving to Karakura.

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?
His residency at Addenbrooke’s Hospital during the last year of his Masters and entire three years of his PhD gave him four years of experience in a professional setting, but he also volunteered as a school counsellor assistant during university, between his classes and part-time job while getting his Bachelors. Further, although not work experience, he often was chosen to be the team medical person in Scouts when he was younger, and got to watch the rangers fix up his peers’ injuries. He was also the person his peers went to for support with their issues, with him being so friendly and approachable.

Has your character completed any additional schooling?
During medical school, Naomi made the impulsive decision to sign up for an online university course in Criminology. He completed it alongside his medical work, and it influenced him heavily to pursue a career path more geared towards helping and/or understanding criminals. He also took a foreign language class: Korean, as one of his closest friends from school spoke the language fluently.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE

Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique?

1692282789301.png1692282944329.png
1692282995958.png
Thank you so much to @bheom for making his base & off-duty outfit!
Naomi Inoue is a short man, standing at only 5’2. He’s got dark skin, and splotches of lighter skin all over his body in no apparent pattern due to his vitiligo. One of his eyes, his left, would be deep brown on the outer edge of his iris, with an emerald green lining the inside of his iris, while the right (being prosthetic) would still have a deep brown outline, with a hot pink splash outlining his pupil, mimicking the central heterochromia in his other eye. His hair is dark brown with dirty blonde highlights, curling slightly at the ends. It would flow almost majestically down his back, but he'd have it braided back during work. There’d be a scattering of sun-kissed freckles on the bridge of his nose and cheeks, and his eyes would usually be bright with curiosity and excitement.

Despite being far too scared to ever dye his hair properly, Naomi has multiple piercings all over his body and a large, space-themed tattoo covering his right arm. However, it was usually hidden behind whatever he was wearing, only being visible to himself when he showered and slept. He doesn’t particularly like to wear tight-fitting or snug clothes, preferring to stick with slightly oversized dress shirts and soft jeans or trousers. He is partial to wearing a corset, however - he claims wearing them makes him feel a lot more confident, whatever that means... He has a prosthetic right pinkie; a dull grey with various waterproof and sparkling heart and star stickers plastered all over it. They often get changed around because, despite being waterproof, they get messed up eventually. He wants the next set of stickers to be dinosaurs.
/setdesc [!] Naomi: charm, fascination, attraction. What a fitting name for such a stunning man. Standing at a modest 5'2, Naomi would have a face covered in sun kissed freckles. His right eye would have a splash of hot pink around the centre, being prosthetic, mimicking the central heterochromia in his left eye! His voice would bleed with enthusiasm and the familiar scent of hand sanitizer would follow him!

How does your character act on and off duty?

On duty, Naomi tries to act as friendly and approachable as he can. He wears a bright smile, and is always curious about things within the workplace. He loves making small talk with patients who wish to converse with him, but also respects boundaries and tries his best to make patients comfortable. Naomi finds himself to be especially gentle with younger patients, knowing first-hand how terrifying it is to be treated in a hospital at such a young age, and tries his best to be eternally patient with them.

Off duty, Naomi acts somewhat the same. Curious about everything around him, and acting as friendly as he can to those around him. He’s definitely a lot less tense off duty, though there seems to be a slight sense of guilt surrounding him, and he’s often found absently looking in the vague direction of Karakura Hospital. Some people call him dedicated to his work, while others use less than pleasant words to describe him (his least favourite being workaholic. He isn’t a workaholic, he’s just passionate). Overall, he’s similar to how he acts on duty, only a little bit less tense and a lot more daydream-y.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?
Despite being quite the social butterfly, Naomi tends to work better on his own over working with others. This was made apparent during his younger years of schooling, finding group projects to be stressful and unappealing. This outlook carried through his school years and into his work life, though he is more comfortable working with a team now. However, in situations where he can handle himself, he prefers to work alone with no distractions; just him and the patient with some nice music playing in the background.

What plans does your character have for the future?
Naomi, for now, just wants to stay helping people. He doesn’t particularly like planning for the future, rather preferring to live in the present and tackle things as they happen. However, one thing that he finds himself longing to do is visit one of the NASA research centres in America, so hopefully he’ll be able to do that one day.

How is your character perceived by others? How does it contrast with their perception of themself?
Naomi isn’t the most perceptive when it comes to figuring out what other people think of him. He likes to think his company is appreciated, and that people enjoy speaking with him, but he’s honestly not sure. People have genuinely enjoyed his company, only a few finding his enthusiasm and constant positivity to be a bit draining. Most find him to be a breath of fresh air within their line of work.

Naomi’s perception of himself is quite a negative one. He does see himself as being positive, happy and outgoing, but he also feels like he’s too much at times, and often finds himself pulling away from friends, focusing on work until he feels better about himself. However, this is honestly quite a rare occurrence as he talks to professionals, despite being one himself, about his problems and self-worth issues.
