KARAKURA HOSPITAL APPLICATION

Out-Of-Character (OOC) Section
IGN (In-Game Name):

sanriofangirl (supposed-to-be EMS account)
yewshe (main)

What is your discord name & tag?:
@yushino

Previous bans:
N/A

Describe your activity on the server:
I occasionally pop into my sanriofangirl account every now and then, especially if I want to roleplay as another character aside from my main. Sanriofangirl was a college account before I changed it back to high school, which was before the profile update, sadly. Now onto my main account, yewshe, which is the one I use to log in on a regular basis. Because of summer break and the fact that I have plenty of time on my hands (even with school), I am able to attend most events, even if they are held at 4-5 AM for me - as long as they are notified ahead of time. I've been playing this server for around 2-3 years now, with a few periods of inactivity due to me not knowing what to do with my characters. Now, I have a good idea of what to do with my characters, and the more I play on the server, the more I have come to learn about so many other things.

What is your timezone?:
(Universal Time Coordinated) UTC+8

List your current and past applications:

What experiences do you have with roleplay?:
I only ever dabbled in the school aspect of things, ranging from high school to college. I started In 2021, messing around with people, while still doing my best to actually roleplay. Eventually, I learned enough to roleplay - which ended up with me meeting a few people, who then became my friends OOCly after and still are. Wanting a new roleplay experience, I decided to join my first-ever team in high school, which was the Track team. Of course, that team has helped me significantly in my writing and I'd like to say that it's what really kick-started my journey in writing more detailed actions. Soon, I wanted more, which led to me leaving the team and aging my character up to college. Now, there, I was curious about what the swim team was like, and especially because it was my friend who was captain, I decided to give it a try. It was fun while it lasted and even while Google was my best friend through it all, it has certainly improved my writing by a lot. After taking a long period off for a break, I made my way back onto the server again and eventually landed myself in the football team, with my yewshe account. I found myself enjoying the plugin but also, the people there and the activities they can bring are quite fun. Soon after, I became captain despite me being new, and I am learning a lot more as I go. So far, I am having quite a lot of fun and everybody has been super helpful with guiding me, as well as answering my questions.

What is your motivation for applying?
I wish to expand my roleplay to more than just jock roleplay, or roleplaying as an 8th grader. Although I enjoy those roleplays, there are occasions where I find myself craving something new, or having a break from those two but still want to roleplay, you know? Then, I was presented with four options and they would be being in EMS, KPD, school factions or the town faction. I find myself leaning more toward EMS as it still has that same rush as KPD, yet it involves more writing than plugin-related things. Not only that, most of my friends are EMS and I find that it would be easier for me to be in an OOC environment where I'm familiar with most people, especially if it's something new I am trying out.

Which role are you applying for?
(Surgeon, Doctor, or Psychiatrist):

Psychiatrist

What knowledge do you have of Hospital Work?
I only have basic knowledge of hospital work due to a family member of mine working in the field, as well as a few friends but also, did some basic research. I believe that it entirely depends on which department, their experience, and their position within the department. Unfortunately for practical hospital work, I do not have any sort of knowledge whatsoever but I have family and friends who can provide that knowledge for me when need be, especially my brother as his field is within radiology. Despite so, I will do my best to describe each role and position.

˜”*°•.˜”*°• OVERSEERS •°*”˜.•°*”˜

DIRECTOR
The highest ranking position within the hospital. As the name suggests, their role revolves around direction. Their responsibilities include providing oversight and administration in the hospital, assuring smooth and structured operations, either through the recruitment and management of various medical and non-medical personnel or the examination of various practices to verify the medical quality of those activities and many more. Aside from that, they are in charge of hiring, firing, subordinate staff training, ongoing education, and promotion. In addition to this, they also have the ability to alter the hospital's system in any way they like and create innovative methods in order to improve each patient's quality of life. In conclusion, they are the ultimate overseers that ensure the quality of a hospital and the safety of their patients.

CLINICAL LEAD (of any department)
Of course, the director cannot handle everything by themselves and there will be times when the director is away. In such cases, the Clinical Leads in their perspective departments will serve as additional senses (that's right, ALL FIVE OF EM!! Kidding, it's just eyes and ears.). Clinical leads have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders because their duty is to guarantee that all clinical personnel is working successfully and efficiently toward the same goals. They must ensure that everyone does their jobs correctly, but at the same time, they must also manage their own workloads. In order to ensure quality medical services, some of their responsibilities include supervising medical staff professionals such as resident physicians and nurse practitioners and providing monitoring of clinical services, coordination of health-care services with other medical professionals such as social workers, pharmacists, dentists, and psychiatrists, and many more that are within their respective department.

HEAD (of any department)
They serve as a middleman throughout the whole process. There will be times when the attending or the person in charge of a patient's treatment plan is too occupied with something to assist you. In this scenario, the department head will take the role of the attending, assisting you with your inquiries and assisting you in resolving any concerns that you may have at the time.

˜”*°•.˜”*°• DEPARTMENTS •°*”˜.•°*”˜

DOCTOR
They are in charge of a patient's care, diagnosing and treating them outside of surgery, and they have a wide range of expertise. Of course, they pursue the most common clinical specialization, which is being a general practitioner but sometimes, the extent of a patient's ailment may fall outside of their scope of practice. In this case, the general practitioner may provide a referral to a specialist with that specific field of practice, who then will swoop in to save the day.

Common examples of medical practices that some of these specific specialties take place in:
Radiology
Neurology
Endocrinology
Cardiology
Pulmonology
OB/GYN (Obstetrics/Gynecology)

And many more! Due to their wide range, I cannot fit them all into one whole list within this application.

SURGEON
A surgeon, or medical expert who specializes in examining and treating conditions that may demand surgery or physical modifications to the human body, plays this job. These surgical procedures can be used to diagnose or treat diseases or injuries that are beyond the scope of a regular clinician. They lead a group of other doctors and nurses in an operating room to assist them and ensure that an operation goes smoothly because whatever changes they make will influence their patient's life significantly. In addition, they use instruments to change or move live tissue, a few examples of which could be lasers, radiation, needles, and many more.

Similarly, a surgeon has specializations, and some common surgical procedures for those specialties include:
Appendectomy
Cataract surgery

Cesarean section (C-Section)
Cholecystectomy

Hysteroscopy

Carotid endarterectomy

And once again, so much more.

PSYCHIATRIST
Not to be confused with psychologists, they are medical professionals whose specialty is the treatment of mental problems using medicines, exams, and diagnostic tests. Of course, they can provide psychotherapy, but what distinguishes them from the others is their capacity to prescribe pharmaceuticals to treat mental diseases and their position as a bridge between psychology and neurology. To determine whether or not the symptoms match the diagnostic criteria for the illness, the patient must have a mental evaluation, which may include anxiety tests, depression tests, and eating disorder tests, among other things. However, it does not stop with mental diagnoses. There are biological diagnoses that must be performed in order to rule out all potential clauses and some of these diagnoses include a physical examination, electroencephalogram, or another type of diagnosis.

Of course, there are a number of subspecialties for this as well. A few of these could be:
Addiction psychiatry

Forensic psychiatry
Neuropsychiatry
Adolescent and child psychiatry
Geriatric psychiatry

Occupational psychiatry

And there could be lots more. Now, with this, they could provide prescriptions to patients (with an expiry date), who then can go over to the front desk and buy those said prescribed pills. There is a limit, of course, and the maximum amount of capsules you can buy would be three. The side effects and much other information regarding the medications are listed publicly within these documents:

PHARMACY, LEGALITY DOCUMENTS, & PRESCRIPTIONS

RANKS

Starting from the lowest, they are the following:

RESIDENT
NOTE: This one requires you to take an exam in order to advance from residency.

ROLE OF SPECIFIC DEPARTMENT

ATTENDING

HEAD OF SPECIFIC DEPARTMENT

CLINICAL LEAD

DIRECTOR

˜”*°•.˜”*°• -- •°*”˜.•°*”˜

LOGGING
This is a responsibility that all hospital staff must uphold. Logging not only saves everybody's time, it also prevents easy mistakes in the future! It can stop unnecessarily muddied communication and prevents people from creating misunderstandings. These said logs can also be found within the discord server, or in this link:
[SRP] Official Hospital Logs - Google Sheets

In these sheets, we can see recovery logs that list statuses, durations, patients, and workers. Likewise, we could also see prosthetic logs that list statuses, dates, and types. These serve as an archive of previously done works but also, updates on works that are in progress.

THE LAB
Now, this is where all the magic happens! Ranging from being able to identify bodies, testing patient samples, and many more, it can provide a lot more health information regarding a patient. These tests are then performed to collect specific health information related to a patient's diagnosis, treatment, and illness prevention. It is a useful place used by hospital staff to help aid in their patient's care. Of course, I don't have enough knowledge regarding this but hopefully, I wish to know more through roleplay.

Do you acknowledge that you’re subject to being demoted at any given time if accepted?
Yes, I do. Inactivities, breaking of rules, or any other reason will land me a demotion and even worse, being booted off if it's severe enough.

Do you acknowledge that by applying for this role, you agree to be 100% dedicated to the Hospital Staff role?
Yes, I do.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
Yes, I do.

Do you acknowledge that you are NOT to take things OOCly when dealing with training & situations?
Yes, I acknowledge that I am NOT to take things OOCly when dealing with training & situations. Separating myself from a character that I have made has always been my number one rule in SchoolRP.

Backstory (100+ Words)
- . Family . -

Born and raised in Japan, Kyoto, Shika was unfortunately cursed with an emotionally inattentive wealthy family. Their parents were neither physically cruel nor neglectful, but they lacked the love they sorely desired because their brothers were favored more due to being politicians. It was lonely for poor little Shika in that house, but being given a personal library to read all their books was nothing short of a miracle to most. Every attempt to get their parents' attention ended in nagging reminders of that, so they sucked it up.
As a kid, they really enjoyed reading books and even if the library was a hand-me-down, it was their safe haven and the only place they truly felt comfortable in, one where they did not have to worry about manners, their unspoken role in a social hierarchy or the way that they present themselves.

- . Teenage Life . -

Ah, school. Their very first introduction to high school was your classic shove-them-into-a-locker type of greeting. Shika was oblivious when it comes to bullying, even when it was done on themselves, and they simply accepted this as some form of greeting towards friends. To which, they responded as if it were a normal greeting, with a muffled "Hello."
Did that stop them? No. Did they leave them alone? Yes, and as a result, Shika felt that familiar looming feeling on their back - the one they've always felt at home but instead, within a locker. There was no escape from this loneliness, it seems but as always, they blamed themselves.

Until Senior high, that is. A pretty girl walked down the hallway like she just came from the heavens, somebody far outside of a nerd like them's reach but like a high-school musical, her interest was piqued. If only their first meeting weren't so. . violent, as they were in the middle of being beaten up but it was cut short by this girl, Kasih. Kasih was an upfront girl, the complete opposite of Shika, and due to that, the two easily got into big conflicts with each other but that's how it is. Friendships, relationships, and anything weren't perfect after all, what bonded the two together was their love and care for one another but also the friendship itself.

Finally, after getting to know each other and hundreds of dates but also failed relationships later, Shika mustered up the courage to speak to her about something. A confession! Which was cut off by Kasih confessing herself, instead - whoops! It's fine, though because the two laughed it off. Throughout the whole relationship, there were many red flags that poor Shika was colorblind to, and every one that crashed into a massive conflict was instantly forgiven by Shika - I mean, why would they not? Well, there were multiple reasons but being a naive teenager, Shika was determined to start a family.

Of course, though, there was going to be a last straw but with Kasih being the only person who understood Shika, did they really want to leave? Not at all. Shika has always struggled with their identity, and it was only through senior high did they perfectly understood that they were genderfluid. Of course, due to this, Shika's failed relationships had. . well, failed. They were frequently perceived as something that they were not and those people loved Shika for what they were, not who they were. Big guy, big gal, cute girl, tough guy, and whatnot but Shika never resonated with any of those. They wanted a guy, they wanted a girl but what Shika wanted was to be themselves. Kasih was the only one who understood that.

- . University . -

Well, would you look at that? They ended up being the very few who got to marry their high-school sweetheart, how boring. Everything was going well and our deer Shika was experiencing the highest point of their life. A family, a new chapter of their life but with Kasih, fat cash, aandd. . well, an adopted daughter. Of course, this was hard to balance with medical school, and with your typical strict rich household, they were not at all forgiving. I mean, a daughter when you barely even started medical school? Regardless, they let it pass due to the fact that it's medical school, and wow! They provided financial support? Their family? Crazy.

It only ever encouraged Shika more. They worked blood, sweat, and tears, plowed through gritted teeth just to pass medical school and be a great parent. It took years that felt like decades but in the end, it was all worth it for our little deer. At least, for a while, until they were hit with the disappearance of their wife. Sorry, what? Yeah, it was for a year, and she returned with a divorce. What about our daughter? Kasih can't bring her. What about them? Us? It's complicated. What's going on? It's . . complicated. Filing through the divorce and any other paperwork necessary, especially for their daughter, it left a sour taste in Shika's mouth. Coming home for Kasih to pack her bags, they couldn't say anything, not even a goodbye. They simply watched that familiar silhouette enter a car and leave, followed by. . Blares of police sirens? Ah, it clicked. She was on the run.

Why? That's something Shika will keep to their grave and something they wish they never remembered.

With that, the lights in Shika's world grew dim but something had to change because somebody has to take care of their daughter, and that somebody is Shika. They picked themselves up again and it began with getting themselves in university. Of course, this needed the final medical exam and they already did complete it after medical school, despite the rocky journey. With their knowledge, medical license, and the connections of their family, they managed to get into a prestigious university. Yippie! Residencies galore, and now they're on their way to Karakura.

- . Before Karakura . -

Fire. How beautiful.

It was an orphanage they built, something they worked so hard for, and yet here it is. On fire. Shika was captivated by this fire, the very thing that had colored their lives once more, but the realization that their efforts had been in vain hit them hard. The children, the workers, and everyone remained in their thoughts as the fire consumed everything. But before anything else could be said, a thought presented itself:

"Where's my daughter?"

No, no, no, no. Please. Anybody but her. Their eyes scattered around the area, searching for a clue and there it was! A plushie's cotton guts and tracks of a tire trailed down in the distance. Of course, they had to follow it and off they went to a train station, leaving behind their home. It all had to reach an end though, and it ended at that specific train.

This massive coward found themselves one simple goal.
Find their daughter.

SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY

What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?
(Ensure this is appropriate to the position you have chosen)

Psychotherapy. They have always been sensitive to other people's feelings, perhaps because of their parents, but whatever the reason, they have a strong desire to help others. It served as a mere distraction for everything that had happened soon after their life went wrong. Obviously, there is still passion, but it has been muddled by the need for distraction.

What medical residencies did your character take after medical school?
Yes, through residency in a university within Kyoto. It lasted for about two years before they departed abruptly to Karakura.

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?
No. Although they completed their residency and were eligible for working, they abruptly left Kyoto in search of their daughter.

Has your character completed any additional schooling?
Aside from the residency that they went through, they have not completed any additional schooling.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE
Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique?

Beginning at the top of their brown fluffy hair, Shika's matching orbs hide beneath long unkempt bangs. Following a deer-like body language and a drooping stance, there lays a terrible fashion sense - one that would remind you of a baggy homeless man but even the poor has better style than that. I wonder what happened to it. They were scrawny but tall, reaching up to a crazy 6'5" feet but that fact was overshadowed by their constant slouching. Of course, they took care of their delicate skin and hair but those were the only things that seemed tidy about them, the rest? Oh man, the touch of their skin was cold, they were pale and skinny, it might be anemia. Rolling up their long sleeves revealed a right hand that had a burn scar to it, which faded just above their elbow.

How does your character act on and off duty?
ON DUTY:

Shika pushes over their own uncertainties and fears because of their compassionate nature and intense interest in psychology and neurology. It was only at this moment that their voice becomes more audible, although it retained its sweet tenderness. It carries like butter and allowed for a practically melodious voice despite its softness, which contributes to their warm nature. They try their hardest to appear joyful at work, with a smile clumsily stitched over their face in the presence of a patient, but man, those fangs were creepy. Aside from that oddity, they remain reserved and polite, most especially towards their co-workers. They rarely provide their own insight into conversations and keep their opinions to themselves, unless they feel as if it's a thought so provoking that it must be told.

OFF DUTY:
A lot on the odd side. They have a peculiar fascination with fire and more often than not, their free time is spent staring at a fire for more than a couple hours. Other than that? They spend their time, in their little home outside of town, searching for clues about their daughter and where their wife might've been. It would last nights and even days of no sleep but of course, they have to sneak those in. Otherwise, how would they properly take in research and study for hospital work? Self-reflection is key, after all, especially if your work involves helping the lives of others. They don't have many hobbies, as they were all long gone but the only thing that remained was reading books. In addition, they spend most of their life taking things slow and hanging out frequently in the woods to relax.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?
They find themselves functioning better with others. It helps provide other perspectives to their annoyingly loud mind that are scattered with thoughts, letting them focus on one thing and one thing only - the other person. They are a massive people pleaser and will do anything just for a simple bit of affection that they have always missed. Sadly though, being with too many people and too many things at once can overwhelm them and when such circumstances arise, they'll end up withdrawing in response.

What plans does your character have for the future?
To find their missing daughter, that is all they have ever asked for. Maybe she's in Karakura, maybe she's not but whatever it is, they hope that there would be at least some hints of her in this place. The goals of improving in their hobbies, finding who they are again, and working their way up in the world to reach out to everybody else that needed help, all felt like nothing in comparison to seeing their daughter again.

How is your character perceived by others? How does it contrast with their perception of themself?
What strikes everyone as a first impression is that they're a complete pushover. Their timid body language, displaying a slouched back and fingers that don't seem to stop fiddling around, contrast against their intimidating height reaching a whopping 6'5 ft - if they weren't slouching so much, anyways. Due to this, everybody can quite easily tell that they're a very cowardly person, not adding to conversations much but once they do, all that ever comes out is a voice so soft, you'd mistaken it for a fly buzzing. No is not a thing in this dude's vocabulary, causing them to make up a bunch of excuses until the person finally realizes that they don't want to do something, and gives up.

Now, for themselves? Oh boy, that's a whole paradox to unfold, as this guy is flooded with insecurities, regrets, and expectations for themselves. On one hand, they feel like they're talking too little and end up talking too much but on the other, they feel like they're talking too much and end up talking too little. Every word that they spoke felt like a calculation made to please the other person, instead of an answer for themselves but at the same time, it feels like an answer that they made themselves, without another's input. Perhaps this excessive need to please everybody has caused them to lose a portion of who they are, and with their daughter missing, it feels like their world has turned gray. Not until their odd fascination with fire, at least. Of course, nobody will know that because this dude often keeps to themself and the guilt is seeping through their veins like poison. Regardless though, maybe, just maybe, there is still that ray of color in their life and it won't be just fire.
