The Lee's had a fierce reputation for their involvement in China's leading triad, Sun Yee On during the 90s. The triad had great power and was the largest triad of all. Reggie's grandfather, Henry Lee, otherwise known as "Big Smile". Lee was part of the triad most of his lifetime. He was well-known. Lee was an ingenious crime boss who did various things to make cash, he was known for his temperamental and brutal tactics. They called him "Big Smile" because he had a big scar that went across his mouth. despite his brutality, Lee loved his family, he sent his daughters to
the United States for college.

Lee's oldest daughter, Charlotte Lee, had decided to settle in the United States. Soon she got married and had a family of her own. Her past was long gone, she had finally come out of the toxic environment she lived in back in China. She had one son, named Reginald. He was a quiet boy, but as he went into high school, he started to become more rebellious. Charlotte would tell Reggie stories about the triad she grew up in. Reggie grew up hearing all kinds of things about the triad. Charlotte would always say how much Reggie resembled his grandfather.
In the year 2012, Henry Lee was brutally killed. His death was a shock to his family, especially Reggie. His grandfather was a big inspiration in his life. Henry Lee's loyalty was admirable.
A couple of years after the death of his grandfather, Reggie decided that he wanted to move to Japan. He moved to the city of Karakura, leaving his friends and family behind and started fresh.
