Do you have Discord? If so, what is your username?:

Yes, I am also comfortable using a microphone if need be. | @clluea

List your timezone and country:
AEST | Australia.

Describe your activity:
I've been part of the community for around six years now. I originally joined years ago and spent a good amount of time actively involved in the server. However, I did end up taking a large break for about three years. Yet, like I say 'SRP is an addiction, you'll always come back.' - That's exactly what ended up happening. At the beginning of this year, I decided to return and well. . .I'm addicted. Since my return, my activity on SRP has been a steady 'on all day, for most days.' (I need to touch grass...) If I do get accepted into Reporter, in terms of my activity within the faction I can without a doubt say I'll be active due to the mere fact that one of my closest friends Emily (Father_o_) is already in the faction - Meaning her and I will be roleplaying ALOT, not just us but with other members of the faction and community.

Link any significant applications (e.g., Roles/Teams, exclude languages):
I'm currently a member of the High School Female Football Team, where I also have the privilege of being the Co-Captain. I also want to be transparent in saying that my experience within a faction has been quite limited; most of my knowledge and involvement dates back five to six years ago from now.
[ACCEPTED] School Nurse Application
[DENIED] Librarian Application

(Also keep in mind, these applications are from five to six years ago!)

What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
I’ve been interested in joining a faction for a while now, especially because I’ve wanted to try something new, something different than the usual JockRP I’ve grown tired of. One reason Reporter has piqued my interest is the new addition to the faction: The Daily Paranoia - I LOVE everything paranormal, my Netflix is FILLED with hundreds of different types of documentaries, 'paranormal events', 'ghost hunting', 'conspiracy theories', and much more. I love reading, watching, and deep-diving into the fascinating world of the abnormal and unknown.

Another huge part of my interest comes from my close friend Emily (Father_o_ | Papi_o_), who is already a part of the faction. (I did mention her prior; however, without her, I wouldn't have known the inner workings.) She is nothing but enthusiastic about her experiences and has taken the time to talk to me about what it is like to be a Reporter. Through her, I've grown fond of the faction, hearing and seeing all the time and care it takes to craft a well-structured report, to the clever puns and thought-out song choices during broadcasts.

It would mean a lot to me and I'd be forever grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful faction, where I can both learn and contribute, where I can develop and hone new skills, and work alongside a team of welcoming, kind individuals who genuinely enjoy what they do.

Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
I would say that my relationship with writing is quite good. I have never really explored it as deeply as others could or have, though I've always felt drawn to self-expression through words. (kind of cringe, I know..) There have been moments in my life where writing became my outlet, a way to escape my thoughts and to drown out the noise. I have created characters that have gone out to explore the unknown with twists of mystery and suspense in their lives. I adore SRP for the same reason: the ability to create, direct, and build a narrative, one where I can detail the atmosphere around my character. I find it interesting how words alone can paint so many vivid images in someone's head and can cause the reader to feel the emotions. Words alone can do that, which I love; it's quite beautiful. Naturally, like all other people, I have writer's block. It sucks, and writer's block is terrible, but I also know that those short periods do not last long. My relationship with writing is similar to a bumpy road, but I will continue to nurture, cherish, and be grateful for it. It’s something that is a part of me that is certain to grow over time.

Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
I have read thoroughly through the rules, and I am fully aware of the rules provided to me and will abide by them!

Why should we accept you over others?:

While I know there are many talented applicants and I would never want to undermine or diminish their strengths, I must say that I've never been one to shy away from a challenge. I believe what sets me apart from the other applicants is a mix of creativity, dedication, and my ambition to learn and improve. I've always been a naturally creative person. It's been one of my biggest strengths, causing me to naturally gravitate towards storytelling, characterization, and finding new, different, imaginative ways to express myself. My creative mindset has helped me to think outside the box, especially when writing and contributing to things.

Dedication is another one of the strengths. If I care about something and I want it, I'll put my everything into it, all my time and effort. I don't admit defeat easily, and I'm always looking for ways to improve and grow, whether it's learning from others or experience, stepping out of my comfort zone, every bit of criticism helps that to happen.

Another strength that I have is ambition. When my eyes are set on something, I go above and beyond for it, I push myself, and work hard to attain it. I don't just want to join the faction, but to get involved, brainstorm my ideas with others, learn from other members, and use this opportunity to improve on my writing and my creativity. I always try and aim to do more, push my creative boundaries.

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
I 100% understand and will not let my opinion or bias cloud my reports.

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
I know without a doubt, I will and shall remain active and can complete the monthly quota.

Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
I imagine the work of a reporter to be centered around producing high-quality, polished writing across a variety of formats. It's not just about casual roleplay situations, though those do come with the role, so do regular interviews with players. (something I'm genuinely excited about.) I see them as not just a way to get out and engage with the community but as another opportunity to explore different characters and their given perspectives. These interactions, I imagine, will help fuel a motivation in me as a writer, pushing me to come out of my shell and forcing me to interact and roleplay with groups of people, whether it be a faction, sports team, a heavily experienced player, or even a newer player. There are other elements to working as a reporter. Broadcasts, where you are reporting on the day's weather and or temperature, followed by hand-picking a song of the day and maybe even slipping in a clever pun or a witty fun fact to uplift the community.

₊✩°。⋆˚⁺✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧⁺˚⋆。°✩₊

Full Name:

[!]
The lobby felt sterile - white walls, harsh fluorescent lighting. Mori sat stiffly on a purple couch, practically sinking into it as one leg nervously bounced rhythmically against the hardwood floor. - A laminated sign on the far wall read: 'Truth, Accuracy, Impact'. She'd exhale through her nose, doubt slowly crept in, shattering almost every bit of confidence she had remaining [!]

[!]
Her blazer was stiff, unworn, professional - nothing like the comfortable oversized sweaters she used to wear on camera. "MISS MORI?" The receptionist called, peering over the computer screen. Minha rose, her legs wobbled like jelly as she made her way to the room [!]

[!]
Upon entering the room, dust and printer toner was smelt. The walls were lined with framed awards. She'd take a seat, adjusting her skirt once she sat. The interviewer starts. Basic questions - formalities [!]

"Oh! My name? Minha Mori, pleasure to meet you."

Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)

"Nicknames. . .Uh, Min?"

[!] An almost perfect smile faded onto her lips as she shook her head, raising her hand. No ring, before dropping the hand back into her lap [!]

"Martial status? Oh, I'm single, so just Ms."

Current Age (25+):

[!] She swallowed the growing lump in her throat. It's fine. . .Everything is going fine. You got this, Minha. . .I hope.. [!]

"I am 26 years young!"

Past job/work experience:

[!] Her breath hitched for a millisecond, smiling through it. Mori saw it all again. The thumbnails, the grainy night vision. Then: the videos, the X threads (RIP Twitter :c), the comments. The slander that followed. Her nails pressed lightly into her palm, but her expression didn't falter [!]

"I was previously a paranormal content creator. I ran a YouTube channel mixed with a podcast, all focused on ghost stories and supposed haunted locations. It had a large following. I handled all of the editing, voiceover, scheduling, and marketing myself. The podcast segment was a weekly thing, I interviewed guests who claimed they had encountered a supernatural experience."

[!] She let out a short breath - here it comes [!]

"However, the channel was. . well, left to rot after a slanderous post went viral, accusing me of staging and scripting fake ghost encounters. The claims were never verified, but I experienced those things; the supernatural is real!- But uh. . after that, I stepped away from the media."

[!] All the remaining hope she had of acing this interview just went down the drain. She bowed her head, letting it just hang there [!]

Degree/qualifications
:

[!] Another deep breath was heard as she exhaled out of her mouth, the weight on her shoulders releasing along with the breath [!]

"Oh, um. . .I possess a Bachelor's degree in Investigative Journalism and Communications."

Nationality and born location:

"I'm fully Japanese, born and raised in Kyoto, close to the Kiyotaki Tunnel, which is. . fun fact suspected to be haunted."

Phone Number:

[!]
The now timid and aloof woman reached over to the side of the chair, rummaging around for something. What could it be? She'd pull out a card, handing it over to them - her phone number and other contact information were brandished on the neatly decorated card [!]

mINHA_mORI.png

How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:

[!] She doesn't answer right away. How does one condense themselves into a paragraph when they've already been picked apart by strangers online? [!]

"150. . .wow uh- I suppose I'd describe myself as observant, curious annnnnd. . .creative or uh, like my business card says: 'Cute, Cursed and Curious'. I tend to see the smaller details that others might not notice. I work best when I'm. . .in the flow? If that makes sense. My previous background in content creation has taught me a lot, how to balance structure with creativity, and how to keep the audience engaged whilst still staying true to the message of the story. Though my past hasn't been the smoothest sailing, it's turned me into a more resilient and reflective person."

[!] She paused, clearly losing count of the words [!]

"Is that 150. . ?"

What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:

"I'm interested in the odd, the subtle things, though don't get me wrong, I do love writing about bigger stories- But. . the stories that have you asking more questions, most of which don't have answers are more interesting."

[!] She'd pause, a brief pause before continuing: [!]

"I'll achieve it the same way I always have, by asking questions and keep asking until I get good enough answers and writing until it feels like the perfect story, and yes. I will absolutely step out of my comfort zone."

What are your expectations for the job?:

"I expect to be challenged and to learn from people who care about the work they do."

Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:

[!] Her eyes widened in utter shock. Did they think she was a criminal? Cancelled, maybe, but a criminal?! [!]

"Gods no, I'd never commit a crime in my life."

Fluent Languages (Underline your native):

[!]
Mori's expression softened, talk about an emotional rollercoaster - going from talking about something quite traumatic to insulting her? Wow. . [!]

"I only know Japanese, but I have been taking online classes for Korean. I've had so much time on my hands recently after. . yeah.."

[PROMPTS]
You will have to write two reports about a topic of your choice. Here we can see how pronounced your writing is and how creative you are. Use your own formatting and your own report idea. (If you're found plagiarizing an actual report or another applicant, you will be denied.)

[#2 | INTERVIEW]

Mori_Myths.png

(All questions have been underlined to make it easier!)

[!] On the screen, pasted in the middle, were the words that read 'Mori Myths'. The thumbnail featured two women seated across from one another on purple couches. The setting was almost like a podcast [!]

[!]
You click play on the video, not before long, the thumbnail gently fades into a slow zoom around the studio itself. A wooden table separated the girls, as the camera pans along the walls, you (the viewer) get a glimpse of different posters and pictures, scattered among those were potted plants and other species of foliage [!]

"Hello and happy hauntings to you all, I'm your host, Minha Mori, and today. . well, today! I bring a very special guest into the studio - Everyone, give a warm welcome to Miss Athia Chen, a devoted Spartan Cheerleader."

[!] Once she finished speaking, gentle clapping and cheering sounds were heard - clearly added on editing [!]

[Minha] "Miss Chen, thank you so much for joining me today. It truly is an honor to have you here. - Now! Are you ready to begin with the first question?"

[Athia] "Yep! I'm ready whenever you are."

[Minha] "Okay, perfect. First question: What was the very first paranormal experience you ever had?"

[Athia] "Oh! Well. . hmm.. funnily enough I only had paranormal experiences when I first moved to Karakura, I would say once I moved into the dorms is when I started to hear rumors about a ghost living above my room, and well, I'm not crazy, I swear- But I kind of went one day. . just to check it out, and well, she started talking to me, asking me why I was in her room. . .and yea.."

[!] Minha's eyes widened in mere curiosity, still fixed on Athia [!]

[Minha] "Oh my. . .! There's a ghost lurking in the Spartan Dorms? That sounds terrifying. Is there anything you know about the ghost living in the dorm above yours?"

[Athia] "She's lowkey messy. . like not that kind of messy but LIIIVES for the drama messy. For sure, a cheer captain at heart, which is what she was! I've heard people get possessed by her and start fighting each other. . She has a way of driving people mad."

[Minha] "Possessing people? Wow. . so, this. . cheer captain ghost loves causing. . havoc?"

[!] Mori's manicured hand flipped open a leather notebook, clicking the pen against the page [!]

[Minha] "Speaking of possessing, do you know anything about protecting yourself against these kinds of events? Maybe, you sprinkle some salt by your doorway."

[Athia] "Oh my god, I had a friend named Kodiak who was TERRIFIED of being possessed, so I did some research for him. I also took a shrine internship where I got to learn a lot about spirits. We don't sprinkle salt on the doors here, we have these Talismans called an ofuda! A lot of people keep it on them or hang it in their homes. You can buy them at the shrine- Actually, here! a gift."

[!] Once done speaking, Chen's hand slipped into her pocket, pulling out the ofuda Talisman. She'd place it on the table, sliding it over towards Mori [!]

[Minha] "Oh. . wow! Thank you, what a lovely gift."

[!] Mori's gaze turned somewhere beyond the camera, picking up the Talisman [!]

[Minha] "CAN SOMEONE HANG THIS UP!-"

[!] Mori allowed a gentle breath to escape her lips, placing the Talisman back down onto the table [!]

[Minha] "Fine, I'll do it myself- Uh, um. . . Anyways! Continuing, you said you've encountered experiences, plural. Can you tell us about the most terrifying encounter you've had with a spirit?"

[Athia] "Oh- Well. . ."

[!] She'd clear her throat, going a bit pale [!]

[Athia] "I was with my teammate Malcom, and I started to hear this little voice. . .? I mean, it was for sure a voice, but he kept whispering things that I'm not even sure how he knew. I suppose the paranormal knows all; however, it was terrifying to have my greatest fears and mistakes being spoken back to me as if they were nothing at all."

[!] She took a pause, adjusting herself before speaking again:
[!]

[Athia] "Thankfully, it didn't last long."

Mori_Myths_1.gif

[!] Mori's brows softened, her eyes staring across at Miss Chen [!]

[Minha] "That's scary, having the spirits know your greatest fears and pains, then using them against you. wow. . ."

[!] Mori would avert her eyes away from Chen, now looming down at her book in hand, pursing her lips before glancing up at Chen again [!]

[Minha] "This brings me to my next question, has your experience ever turned or been violent? From the stories you've been telling us, so bravely, might I add, it seems all the ghosts you've encountered have just been toying with you. Has one ever been violent?"

[Athia] "Nope! Luckily, I have not been possessed or thrown. Though I do, however, know of people who have, my friend Geneviève. Her body got taken over by a spirit and started swinging on another one of my friends. It was like suuuuuper crazy!"

[!] Chen scratched her cheek, attempting to recall the events
[!]

[Athia] "I try to be wary, who's to say I won't disappear or get killed by one?"

[Minha] "That's understandable, the paranormal are very unpredictable, aren't they? I'm guessing all these events happened around the dormitory, do you know of any other /haunted/ places?"

[Athia] "I mean. . I've heard rumors about that abandoned train station. Also, the forest, specifically the Takagi Hut, that place is like suuuuper unstable, I wouldn't go, but if you do, make sure to knock before entering!"

[!] Chen reached for the glass of water sitting atop the coffee table
[!]

[Athia] "OH! And beware of snakes.. haha.."

[!] She'd take a sip from the glass cup
[!]

[!]
Mori nodded before scribbling messily on the pages, clearly jotting down notes [!]

[Minha] "Can you elaborate more about these. ./rumors/ and this Takagi Hut?"

[Athia] "The rumors? They're just in fact rumors; someone told me to check it out and said the place was haunted. Honestly, I've been there a couple of times.. I went with my boyfriend and we didn't see or hear anything."

[!] Chen lit up, scooting herself closer to the edge [!]

[Athia] "The hut belonged to Lady Tsugumi, the mother of Karakura, as they say, some people go to her to pray. I've never seen or heard her, but people say she's pretty calm. Whatever that means."

[!] Mori's head quirked to the side, her brows perked up - clearly intrigued [!]

[Minha] "How interesting, interesting indeed. . ."

[Minha] "By now it's quite known that spirits are real and well. . .in Karakura- Why do you think this quiet town is riddled with ghosts?"

[Athia] "Oh! That's a bit difficult. . hmm. I want to say perhaps the fact that this /quiet/ town has been around for centuries. Its soil is tainted with old battles and mysterious disappearances. . .I'm sure that alone would keep restless souls around. Some say spirits are drawn by unfinished business, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people who caused their deaths still linger around the streets. Whatever the reason, just know they're ALWAYS watching."

[!] Mori's head bopped up and down as she scribbled words on the notebook [!]

[Minha] "Beautifully said, Miss Chen. Quite poetic."

Mori_Myths_2.gif

[Minha] "Okay, responding to your answer with a question. Do you think all spirits are vengeful?"

[!] Chen paused for a moment, biting the inside of her cheek [!]

[Athia] "No, there are so many types of spirits. Some of them are vengeful, born from grudges. Often tied to a certain location around the town. However, we have good spirits! The kami would be a perfect example, we worship them at the Shinto Shrine, give them offerings and prayers. As far as I'm aware. . they aren't out to hurt us. I even served Kitsa tea during my internship!"

[Minha] "I'm jealous, I wish I could have served Kitsa tea. . .lucky goose.."

[!] She'd jolt down a few more sentences before gently shutting the notebook close [!]

[Minha] "Last question! If you could tell the citizens of Karakura about the spirits that roam our town, what would you say?"

[!] The camera would pan closer towards Athia, all eyes on her now [!]

[Athia] "I would say.. be cautious. Remember to respect the dead as much as you respect the living- scratch that. Respect them MORE. Keep an ofuda on ya as well!"

[!] The camera would pan back out, then closer to Minha [!]

[Minha] "You know what. . speaking of ofuda's. . .Remember to use code 'MoriMori' for 15% off your next online ofuda purchase!"

[Minha] "Can we also get a great big thank you for our special guest, Athia! Thank you so much for joining me today, Miss Chen."

[Athia] "No, no! Thank you for having me."

[Minha] "Stay tuned for next week's episode! And remember, stay cute, possessed, and spirit-obsessed. Thank you all."

[!] With that, the camera would slowly pan out and away from them both. Gentle outro music could also be heard in the background as the screen slowly faded to black [!]

[!]
A cute outro would start playing, the screen would be filled with 'Thanks for watching!' and a little pop-up 'use code 'MoriMori' for 15% off your next online ofuda purchase!!' [!]
