What are your current roles on the server? (If you're college, specify your degree level):
Grade 12 - Shirai Murasaki

Describe your activity and roleplay experience on the server:
My activity in general is during my weekday afternoons after my irl schedules and during the weekends when my family has no prior commitments. I was active in the server from 2022 to 2024 but had to reduce my activity due to personal reasons. Regardless, I was still intermittently going online and participating in classes. I have only recently fully returned early November with my other friends and have been active on a regular schedule since.

During my time of activity, I was also a part of Tailoring Services in servers such as Euphoria, Misfits, and Cartier, as either a Tailor or an Artist. As of late, I am currently a Tailor in Shiawase and currently considering applying as an Artist again as well.

My roleplay activity on the server had always been casual and often with friends, especially as a student. I greatly enjoyed participating in the classes as well as actually learning new information. Whenever possible, especially during less crowded interactions, I try to RP as detailed as possible, though I know this is not always viable especially in a classroom scenario. I try to improve my typing speed for that.

My roleplaying experience prior to SRP had been slower-paced, with participants able to have minutes to decide on their action. My experience in this roleplay pacing ranged from casual interactions to romance scenes to combat roleplay. However since coming to SRP, at first I was too slow to respond or defaulted to ingame gestures and regular dialogues. I had to figure out typing conventions as well as shortening as needed for more time-restricted roleplay sessions. Overall though, I actually think it made me think on my actions better and trained me to make snap decisions.

In your own words, why do you think professors are important to SchoolRP?
I believe professors are important for their immersive role as educators of higher education. It gives others a feel of a natural progression to life in the server, not just as a perpetual teenager educated by teachers, but as aspiring specialized individuals who can be further supported in their academic or professional endeavors. Given their specialized subject specializations, they also provide more in depth knowledge that can give further interests to students. Apart from fhe roleplay perspective, the additional lessons and information can also cultivate real life interests.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive, you may face demotion or removal from the faction?
Yes.
Do you understand if your application is accepted, you may have to undergo professor training?:
Yes.

In-Character Information

What's your character's full name?

“Shirai Murasaki.”

Age (Minimum is 27):
“I turned 32 years old earlier this year,

Nationality:
“My family is Japanese.”

Preferred Subject:
“Molecular Biology and Biotechnology– or simply the first one, if it seems too long. It is what I spent years studying for.”

Describe the character: How do they look and act? What makes them unique and different? What are their plans for the future? Optionally, what is their past?

Shirai Murasaki has a light complexion and an allegedly short height, only standing at 5’4”. Her hair is frequently seen as violet, often with two braids framing her face with the rest of her hair left unstyled at her back at waist length. Occasionally, she has just one big plait. Her style of clothing is often plain or practical, often preferring neutral or dim to dark colors. She tends to plan a lot of things ahead of time, often even going as far as making timelines that she would follow with marked strictness. If she has already set a schedule for something, she is often unlikely to change it and will do her absolute best to follow it.

Shirai had initially planned to pursue something else, but she became invested in her Bachelor’s Degree and decided to continue it up to her Master's. She delved in research for a few years working in Korea where she found great interest in discussing her field at length. She came back to Karakura to support her nieces and nephew.

Due to the nature of her field and the recency of it, her current plans for the future includes cultivating enough interest in Molecular Biology among students in hopes of giving rise to more practitioners of her field.

What is their outlook on students and their co-workers?
As a former student herself, Shirai looks at students the same way her former instructors treated her– potential future colleagues. Though she recognizes them as students, she expects a certain amount of professionalism and discipline, especially if they've made it this far in the academic ladder. She's not strict, neither is she impatient, and takes ideas with genuine interest and considers their possibilities. She's not the type to simply dismiss outlandish ideas without enough information that would invalidate the claim. Curiosity is the primary principle of research after all, and she holds it higher than necessity at times. (Though it is undeniable that necessity is what pushes innovation still.)

As for coworkers, she treats them respectfully and frequently with seniority regardless of who is actually older or more experienced. She is always more than willing to help others, though she sometimes would not accept others’ practical aid apart from taking advice. When it comes to research or experiments, she prefers it to be her own hands handling her work.

What is their motivation for becoming a professor?:
Shirai chose Molecular Biology and Biotechnology to be her field of specialty, particularly knowing that it's a somewhat more recent specialization as compared to other sciences. Her primary motivation to becoming a professor is to educate and make students interested in her subject, to produce potential colleagues in her work and others. Primarily guided by her passion for her field, she decided to leave the research field to return and be an instructor in higher education.

Roleplay Scenarios

A jock is ignoring your lesson and throwing paper balls at another student, what would your character do?

Shirai called on the interruptive student at a natural pause in her lecture, eyeing them with characteristic calm.

“[Name], would you care to remind the class what gene was amplified in our specimen of interest?” she asked, her arms crossed, her expression decidedly neutral.

Should the student actually know what to answer, she'd simply nod and gesture to the board.

“Thank you, though I would expect your classmates would likewise like to understand the lesson without unnecessary interruptions,” then she would return to the lesson but would keep a close eye on the jock, potentially making him a target for questions to occupy him instead of disrupting others. If said student proceeds to be interruptive, she'll warn them further, until the third offense wherein they will be shown out.

Otherwise if the jock is unable to answer the question, Shirai would tap on the board.

“I'd appreciate it if you would instead direct your energy into paying attention to the lesson instead of disrupting other students,” her tone would be calm, almost clinically detached, but stern enough to make a point without directly offending the student.

A student doesn’t seem to understand the material, yet hasn’t requested help, what would your character do?
Shirai is not one to call out lagging students in the middle of class. She'll continue the lecture, although she would break down the lesson into smaller, more digestible points in hopes that the student would understand better. Should the student still show difficulties, she'll ask the class if they have any questions. If the student refuses to speak up, and yet still lags in the next lesson, she'll ask to meet them after class to offer assistance or ask for feedback on how she can improve her lessons.

Though in addition to adjusting her lectures, she'll also provide lecture notes on the topic at the start of class to help the students follow along.

When in the faculty lounge, how does your character act?
Shirai typically can't be without something to do. As a result, she can either be found on her books or laptop, whether reading for entertainment or reading for research. She's also not the type to be drinking coffee and may instead be found with a mug of hot chocolate instead. When another faculty is present, she may interact with them by either asking how their students are doing, or simply volunteering information about her current interest in a ‘Did you know?’ kind of way.

Otherwise she can be found napping on the lounge couch. She has a habit of staying up at ungodly hours of the night and may take breaktime as nap time.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas and one field trip idea related to your subject

[Interactive Class]
Gene Database - A step-by-step procedure on how to use genetic databases online to find certain gene sequences that would be associated with certain traits or diseases. She may list certain diseases and students are to find sequences that are related to them or vice-versa.

[Interactive Class] Culturing - Samples collected or provided will be cultured and studied for their morphologies and traits. This would be a procedural lesson that can span more than one class if allowed. Otherwise, it can focus more on the culturing procedure and morphological ****ysis can be done another time.

[Field Trip] Sample Collection - The Karakura forests and springs are good sites for sample collection. She may bring the students to these locations to select spots to gather samples from their wanted spots. Using kits she'll provide as well as protective kits to prevent accidental sicknesses.
