Backstory:

Early Childhood:

The history of Stefan Mikael Romero is a fairly blurry picture to paint. Stefan was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia to a Russian escort by the name of Katerina Maldovar and a Dominican gambler by the name of Pedro Pablo Romero. The product of a one-night stand, Stefan was born on February 29th, 2004 which was a leap year though he typically keeps the fact that he was a leap year baby to himself. He never had the chance to meet and know either of his parents. His mother passed away during childbirth, leaving only a painful memor- wait... he has no memories. Regardless of that fact which we will get into later, Stefan's father is MIA, nobody knows who he was except for the name he left signed when he skipped town after accumulating too much gambling debt.
Still, this did not seem to bother young Stef, as he managed to grow a happy child despite such a rough childhood. Stefan was raised in brothel his mother worked at, raised by most of the staff and the owner, Victor Belov. Victor gave Stefan shelter and kept him monetarily sustained, though from the time Stefan could walk he'd work for Belov. Stefan had to learn what most men in their 30's still don't know for themselves, how to cook, bathe, do laundry, etc... After Viktor eventually passed, Stefan had a vast knowledge of how the world worked and eventually took off, living on the streets of Saint Petersburg until eventually stowing away on a charter ship that led him to various places until his final destination, Karakura.

Adolescence:
Living in the streets of Karakura is no easy task. Anyone can tell you that Karakura is a city filled with violence and chaos. This didn't affect Stefan at all. Stefan has always lived his life one step at a time and thats how he planned on living in Karakura. Only 13 years old, Stefan quickly adapted to living on his own, extremely mature for his age. With money that he earned from his job working with Victor, Stef managed to buy rent out his own apartment, wearing shoes with large heels so that he would seem taller and would deepen his voice to sound older. He pretended to be living with his uncle whom he never really went into detail about. While living most nights out on the streets, he eventually met his brother he never knew he had, Zuko Portgas. Stefan and Zuko instantly hit it off, their love for Basketball and for cracking jokes caused them to forge an incredible bond. They did EVERYTHING together. What Zuko lacked for in studies, Stefan excelled and what Stefan lacked for in street smarts, Zuko excelled. They were quite the duo for quite some time.

Eventually, things started to get a bit more serious when Zuko and Stefan got involved with the wrong crowd, though Stefan never really saw it as that. Stefan met a man by the name of Thomas W., who was typically involved in organizing various street fights. Seeing himself as a skilled fighter who loved to fight simply for the hell of it, Stefan became in love with the sport and Thomas eventually became his manager. Stefan was involved in various different fights from then, his talents eventually getting noticed until he was in a special. . . "club" of sorts in which he continues to fight today.

We Gotta Talk About His Love Life RIGHT???
After quite some time, when fighting became all that Stefan cared about and loved, an old friend from Russia by the name of Kasai decided to pay a visit to her old friend, who had sent various postcards to her from Karakura. She hung around for a while, and they did everything together. At the time Stefan didn't really care for relationships, as his one and only love was FIGHTING. All of this changed however as he grew closer to Kasai. He eventually realized that he was deeply in love with her, deciding to confess his feelings for her. Realizing that their feelings for each other were mutual, they decided to start dating. After a few months of dating, they were living together and almost a year and a half later, they were engaged, sometime after his 18th birthday. Stefan's life could not be going any better. Or so he thought. As with all good things, they must come to an end, right?

With Stefan overloaded with work, fighting, and partying, the time for him and Kasai slowly diminished. There were days where he would simply be too TIRED to even speak to her. They went on like this for a while until one day where Stefan was beaten to a pulp in a fixed match. The opponent clearly was over his combat experience, and he was beaten bloody. After recovering, with his spirit shattered, Stefan started to evaluate what was truly important to him, the love of his life. He decided to take a spontaneous cruise vacation with Kasai, simply to rekindle things with her. Little did he know, it was far too late. Two days into the cruise, Kasai completely cut the engagement off, 6 days later she had moved out of their home, and before Stefan knew it, she had completely left his life. Beaten and distraught, Stefan was completely heartbroken and devastated. He was not ready to lose someone he cared about so much, yet he only had himself to blame. Stefan eventually decided to give up on love, deciding that he was not worthy of love as he had neglected it entirely. However, we all know this story. As much as you vow not to love, you can't stop your heart. Stefan certainly couldn't.

Stefan returned to Karakura after his summer break with a new mentality, or so he thought. Eventually he saw someone who piqued his interest entirely. Surely, he wasn't falling in love again, was he? Stefan laid eyes on Mitsuri Mikoto Tokugawa, or whom he later called his 'blueberry goddess.' He met her due to his friend Namikawa, whom he hung around a lot with after a falling out that Stefan had with Thomas. From the moment he saw her, he was instantly attracted to her, despite denying it to himself because he 'doesn't care about love.' However, the attraction came to be too much for him, and he eventually decided to just admit to himself and to her his attraction. He walked up to her and impulsively called her gorgeous and planned to ask her on a date until her mother showed up. Emiko was enough to make Stefan quake in his boots, with piercing eyes and gaze, she interrogated Stefan as to his intentions with her daughter. Stefan decided that the only thing she would respect was honesty, and ultimately decided to just tell her the truth. He wanted to ask Mitsuri on a date. When Emiko heard this, she reluctantly decided to accept his feelings and allowed Stefan to take her on the date. The date was set, and they were off. The first date was a success, despite the fact that he was stalked a majority of it by her family. Eventually, they went on more and more dates and after some time, they fell in love. But as we said before, all good things must come to an end.

Stefan's relationship, despite their feelings, wasn't so perfect. There were a lot of flaws, though most of them came from the treatment of her family and friends towards him. Stefan was treated somewhat harsh, usually getting the short end of the stick but he always managed to try and be respectful, often exploding due to his violent temperament. At one point, it seemed he had pissed off someone a little too much because before he knew it, someone broke into his apartment as he was talking with two of her siblings and sliced off his tongue, OUCH!!! Luckily, he was given a donor tongue and he was on his way (NO WE AREN'T GOING INTO DETAIL THIS SECTION IS LONG ENOUGH). Stefan was convinced however that Mitsuri's brother was involved and that there was the beginning of the end. Stefan ultimately decided that he couldn't be with her if her brother was involved in the loss of his tongue, to which she agreed, and they broke up. Stefan was too heartbroken however, and they tried to meet up again, but they couldn't just be friends... it hurt too much. He eventually met with her to talk and... they shared a kiss. OKAY TO BE FAIR, NOT HIS BEST MOMENT BUT HE WAS IN LOVE?!? IM SURE YOU'D HAVE DONE THE SAME. After the kiss was shared, he decided to try and fix things, to which he had invited her mother over and explained the situation. And her mother? SHE APPROVED. She decided to take care of Mitsuri's brother and pushed for them to get back together. Everything was going well... right? WRONG. Zuko, whom had already been at the scene of the incident where Stefan had lost his tongue, already knew of Stefans feelings about Mitsuri's brother being involved and decided to confront him, eventually his anger getting the better of him and he assaulted the male. Emiko was furious and decided that Stefan was NEVER to see Mitsuri again. With Stefan knowing that he could never be with Mitsuri without her mother's approval, he decided to end things... entirely. And thats the sad ending to Stefan's relationship? RIGHT??? WRONG AGAIN!!

THE ACCIDENT TO THE PRESENT

After drinking himself away for quite some time, Stefan was all about parties and business. He was completely focused on himself and the healing process, despite the casual stares and whispers. Eventually after some time, he decided to move on. OH, DID I MENTION HE WAS IN BASKETBALL? He had tried out during his dating of Mitsuri, to which he dedicated and continues to dedicate hours on end to what he calls 'THE GRIND.' With Basketball and partying being his main focus, he moved on entirely. After quite some time of feeling sorry for himself though, something good did come out of dating Mitsuri in his opinion. He decided that love wasn't worth giving up on. He ultimately realized that while Mitsuri was not the one, that doesn't mean that the one wasn't out there. Right? That's when his gaze had set on Bailey Misono Minamoto. Something in her character appealed to Stefan. Whether it was her playful demeanor or her goofy nature, he liked her. He liked being around her. He decided to invite her to many of his parties, trying to get to know her and work up the nerve to ask her out. One day he decided to just 'YOLO' it (STEFAN IS RUSSIAN AND DOESNT KNOW SLANG, DONT HATE HIM) and he asked Bailey out on a date. She agreed to go and thus started a new relationship. Now dating Bailey felt so simple to him, like he didn't have to try after all the time and effort he put into his relationship with Mitsuri. It's not to say that he didn't care, but he felt an overwhelming peace dating Bailey. They dated for quite some time, and their relationship was at a great point, at its peak, and then... it happened.

You ever hear of 50 First Dates. We all love that movie. Where she can't make memories but the guy tries to make her fall in love anyways? Well erase that idea of amnesia from your head. This is nothing like that. One day Zuko, who customarily took specific dates to go to shrine and pay respects to his family members, decided to ask Stefan to accompany him. Stefan, who would do anything for Zuko decided to accompany him. While at the shrine they were together paying respects until... (WAIT... THIS PAGE IS RIPPED FROM MY NOTES WHAT THE ****. Damn it... okay ill carry on... God this is gonna suck) Stefan fell off the bridge 50 feet from the air to the ground. The details are a bit fuzzy on how the hell it happened, but it happened. Zuko screamed as he saw his friend plummet to the ground below. He proceeded to rush down the mountain, scooping up his friend and hopping onto his motorcycle and breaking EVERY SINGLE TRAFFIC LAW (Don't tell KPD). He rushed his friend to the Hospital, where they treated to Stefans wounds, whom was in critical condition. And despite the fact that Stefan managed to survive the accident... that was unfortunately the only good news. Zuko walked into the emergency room full of joy, only to be greeted with, "Who the hell are you??"

Stefan had developed a different type of amnesia, different from 50 First Dates in which he lost all of his, memories. Zuko was devastated and Stefan was clueless. He called over many of Stefans friends to try and see if he could jog Stefan's memory back but to no avail. Stefan's memory was gone, and along with it his brother. Eventually Stefan just tried to get on with his life, meeting many of his old friends and trying to get to know them all over again. Despite the fact that he had lost his memories, he was still trying to enjoy his life, learning new things and having new adventures. Sadly, it looked like the new adventure would have to be done by himself. Not even a day after Stefan's own accident, Zuko Spiegal Portgas was pronounced dead to a fatal accident. Everyone who knew him was devastated. Everyone except for Stefan. His own brother, whom he could have trusted with everything and anything. But he didn't remember him. He couldn't. Even today he lives and tries to remember but he can't. He is told stories about how Zuko and him were brothers and did everything together and it pains Stefan's heart to know that he will never know him. Several weeks later, Stefan continues to try and live his life. He found new love, ultimately unable to continue dating someone whom he, 'doesn't remember meeting,' and despite having so many people who knew the old him, he's trying to find out who this 'new' him is... Give him some time. You never know. Maybe not all good things have to come to an end.
