I would like to suggest an extension to how custom blocks and furniture work on the server. Currently we are using remodeled and retextured stairs and slabs for some of the custom blocks. Now that we have updated to 1.17.1 however, there are now new ways we can add custom block models and furnitures by using blockstates of blocks like mushroom, noteblocks, chorus blocks and string!
A blockstate for the uninitiated are basically different states for the same block, and with some resource pack magic it is possible to replace specific blockstate models and textures!
There are 4 main blocks that could be used (there are more, but these are the ones with the most block states, and possible items)
Mushroom blocks, Noteblocks, Chorus blocks, and string.
Mushroom blocks and note blocks are ones which have a proper collision, yet are iffy with transparency. Mushroom blocks have a total of 191 possible custom blocks possible! Noteblocks have a whopping 750 possible custom blocks!
Chorus blocks also have a hitbox, but they have full transparency support, meaning they could be used for models which aren't bigger than a full block. There are 63 possible custom blocks using them.
And finally string. String doesn't have a collision hit box, meaning you can walk through it. This makes it perfect for decoration items, plants, stones, etc! There are 127 possible items that can be added using string!
Of course, I imagine making a plugin that could do this would be pretty difficult, but it would be really good for interior and exterior decorations.
HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT THE SERVER/COMMUNITY?:
It would add a metric ton of possible blocks and furniture items that could be used in building designs across the server. Given how items like this would use blocks, they would also create minimal server lag, if any lag, meaning they could even be available to players in a reworked /appartment shop!
