Technical feasibility of items/furniture with light sources?

This probably goes out to the tech staff of SRP.
Would it be very difficult to implement new lamps or flashlights/torches as custom furniture or custom items?

I feel like the flashlight emitting light would be more of a shader thing but I think it is do able with a mod pack that becomes mandatory when downloading the srp resource pack. just my thoughts

im not particularly intelligent or anything but I'd guess something like emissive furniture would require optifine, which they don't want to make necessary for people to have for anything on srp to function

we do have a flashlight item that doesn't require optifine but im not sure how it's been done, maybe it can be remodeled and -textured for variations?
