️ INTRODUCTION — A LITTLE HALLOWEEN PRESSURE

It’s Halloween time in Karakura! Everyone has decorated the streets, people have put on amazing costumes and everyone has plans for tonight. There are so many creative costumes being worn by people either hand made or quick ones they came up with.

But, There is also the pressure to impress.

With the increasing popularity of social media, Halloween can often feel like a competition instead of a celebration. People feel as if they have to spend large amounts on their costume, attend exclusive parties and ensure that their photos are planned to perfection.

But, Is this really what Halloween is about?

I took a walk around Karakura and spoke to some of the residents. I asked them about their experience, how much they are spending on their costume and whether they felt pressured to wear something that would impress. Halloween should be a fun time!

PART ONE — HOW MUCH DOES HALLOWEEN REALLY COST?

Let's talk money! Costumes come in all shapes, sizes, and price ranges. Some people spend weeks putting together the perfect outfit, while others prefer something simple that doesn't require much planning.

But how much are people actually spending?

For this part of the report, I asked residents about their costume budgets, where they found their outfits, and whether they believe spending more money makes a costume better.

RESIDENT INTERVIEW #1

Resident: Delilah Enriquez

Costume: Sunshine Care Bear

Estimated Cost: Free! It was her old PJ's!

Lysander Vale: "Approximately how much money did you spend on your costume?"

Delilah Enriquez: "My name is Delilah Enriquez, this costume is was kind of free because its an old pajama."

Lysander Vale: "Do you think expensive costumes are automatically better than cheaper ones?"

Delilah Enriquez: '"Not all the time. I mean sometimes the quality can be better, but unless you're someone who like cosplays and is gonna wear it all the time, its a waste of money to spend so much on something you're gonna wear once a year, if you decide to wear it ever again."

Lysander Vale: Are you satisfied with how your costume turned out?

Delilah Enriquez: "Yeah, its comfy and when I'm done with it, I can keep using it as pjs. Plus, its easy to recognize, I think."

PART TWO — DRESS TO IMPRESS!

Now, let's get into the real question: how important is looking impressive on Halloween?

There's nothing wrong with wanting to look your best, especially when you've spent time putting together an outfit you're proud of. However, sometimes the excitement of dressing up can turn into pressure to compete with everyone around you.

Between social media posts, costume competitions, and Halloween parties, it's easy to feel like your outfit needs to be perfect. Try to remember you don't have to be perfect! Sometimes its okay to be different, just remember to be who you want to be.

FINAL THOUGHTS — WHAT HALLOWEEN IS REALLY ABOUT

After chatting to residents and seeing everyone's amazing costumes around Karakura it is clear that everyone has their own way of celebrating Halloween.

Some love putting hours into creating their costume whilst others may prefer something simple. Some may just enjoy having fun with their friends. This is all fine! Halloween should not be seen as a competition where you see who can spend the most on their costume, have the most popular party or get the most likes on their photos. It is a time to express yourself, try new things and make memories with those around you.

You do not need an expensive costume to have fun.

Everyone in Karakura whether you are dressed up as something scary, silly or something completely unique have fun!

Take some photos, have some candy and take some time to appreciate those around you.

You don't have to dress to impress. Just dress to express!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, KARAKURA! ️
