What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
An interest in writing and collecting information about subjects I either don't feel are discussed enough on the server or are personally of interest to myself. When first joining SRP, I did not lean heavily into the roleplay aspect instead option to focus on the economy of the server fairly heavily, because of this I believed an reporter character centralized around discussions of the towns economy and finances would be interested to see and engage in.
Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
Other then having to write in College settings and throughout academics I have not specifically sought out creating writing pursuits but it has been something that has interested me. Specially, its something I would like to grow better at and engage more with, applying for a reporter character feels like the best outlet for such a decision given my level of activity on the server.
Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
YES, I have read the rules listed and guarantee I will follow them to the best of my own ability.
Why should we accept you over others?:
The lock in ability is what I like to call it. I may play it silly at times however when its needed I always attempt to do my best to focus up or maybe do a little of both. When it comes to how heavily public facing and engaging the reporter faction is I don't intend to take any of it lightly, yes I'll still have fun with it but having fun and being silly does not involve missing quota or generally just lacking in activity.
Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
Absolutely, this is a fundamental aspect of reporting and is important to remain objective in the material you write.
Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
YES again! Given how much time I spend on this server already I firmly believe I'll be able to focus and complete the monthly quota. If that ever feels like it is no longer the case, whether temporarily or permanently, I will be sure to report it to the proper individuals.
Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
For me, I imagine most the discovery of information and all that entails. Reaching out to people I may not know whether ICly or OOCly to request to speak or ask crucial questions. I believe it will force me to push out of my box and discover more about the server and its players. As well, always being on the lookout for new information or new events that are occurring to stay on top of it!
Full Name:
Leaning forward slightly he points at the nameplate at the edge of his desk, before you have a chance to read it fully he states proudly “Bartholomew Grant, that's the name and. . . that's the game? I’ve never been good with riddles.” leaning back allowing his arm to retreat from the front of the desk.Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
“Most people refer to me as Mr. Grant or simply Bartholomew” he says not much sentiment in the statement. “Some individuals close to me have called me ‘Barty’ in the past” a slight tinge of embarrassment filling the air. “Not quite sure if I liked it. Don't call me that” slightly regretted mentioning it.Current Age (25+):
He narrows his left eye before speaking “53” drawing out the fifty as he spoke “About to be 54 this coming month, you don’t quite get where I’ve been overnight” he says with a slight chuckle.Past job/work experience:
- Bronzeman Sachs - Director of Foreign Exchange JP Branch (7 years, 6 months)
- Bronzeman Sachs - Assistant Trader (5 years, 3 months)
Degree/qualifications:
Moves to the side and gestures with a backwards thumbs up to the two degrees pointed behind him, as if used to going over it. “You got my Bachelors hung up there, started in Mathematics with a Economics minor and then moved onto my Masters in Finance. Good times, good times” a melancholy grin edged onto his face. Nationality and born location:
Phone Number: 030-
How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:
Sat at his desk in thought, attempting to pull together a string of words both expressing his excellencies while not coming off as too self-absorbed. You learn to be a little self-absorbed in his business “Goal oriented and ****ytical, all the buzzwords you’d want plastered on your own LinkedIn. Hell to what they put on your gravestone, what do they say about you during quarterly reports.” said with out an ounce of care about the coldness of the statement given “I didn’t get where I am by taking uncalculated risks or letting my emotions get the best of me, I aimed for outcomes and the numbers never lie, I did a dam good job at it” might be a bit late to worry about appearances at this point. What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:
Hoped it was fairly obvious at this point about what he’d be writing about “Anything related to BEEF, not the food of course: Business, Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Finances” had come up with that little acronym all by himself, hoping it one day stood with stem as one of the greats. Really had no clue how silly it came off “It's been my focus for the past 20 years so yeah, BEEF! And about going out of my comfort zone” he wasn't exactly keen on taking risks without all the proper information bestowed upon him “It depends on the situation, skydiving? Sure. Speaking with a shady restaurant owner? Double sure! Running into a burning building to ask a Governor if they used a proper SWAT ****ysis during there strategic planning stage? Probably not.”What are your expectations for the job?:
Thought quickly on how to respond with anything other then ‘a paycheck’ no world would that look good “To report the news” shoot he answered all bluntly again, time to take it back a step “Let me rephrase, to discover more of what Karakura has to offer. More then what simply shows on a spreadsheet or a chart. How the people feel, how the money moves, and who has a say in it. And, yeah, I guess to report the news” relaxed a tidbit feeling his splotch of an answer before had redeemed itself in some manner. Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:
His hands jitter a bit, stretching out and back into a fist before answering “Nothing that's stuck, or went to trial” a sliver of pride cracking through. “Why? If any of my previous employers have been yapping, remind them they benefit a WHOLE lot more from staying quiet than I do!” his eyebrows flared and posture rising confrontationally.

#2 - Interview
A vintage tape recorder spins to life, where did Bartholomew even pull out such a relic? Who knows, but the interview is about to start so everyone listen up.
Barty: “Its a cold evening on” looks down at his watch, yes it had that date as well ”March 8th, 2026. Myself, Bartholomew Grant, sat down with an anonymous House Owner from Karakura to paint a real picture of what the real estate market is like for Karakura’s finest. Let's get started. Firstly, how long have you lived here?” gestures to the house they’re sitting in.
A: “Less than a month, it's been a one crazy ride man I’ll tell you that! Just recently we finished up all the required construction and got everyone moved in.”
Barty: “Construction? What needed fixing, or was it perhaps all cosmetic choices?” he said, staring over at the home owner, tapping his pencil down on his notepad.
A: “Mostly cosmetic, It's all personal. I really wanted to shape this home into my own, after the effort it took I think I earned it. Some functional construction also was required though don’t get me wrong, there was a leak from the roof and everything before I got moved in! I really wish my real-estate agent would have caught that one.”
Barty: Bartholomew quickly jots down some notes, allowing himself some time before having the conversation move forward “I’m glad to catch you while this is all still fresh, you mentioned the effort and not in a pleasant manner. Was the process of becoming a home owner difficult?”
A: “Everyone involved was pleasant, the previous owner, those helping with construction and the movers. All pleasant people, but the experience of even going about making the purchase was atrocious. You’d be lucky to even find an owner willing to sell! I know it took me months to find anyone, and that doesn’t even get started on the price.”
Barty: He points his finger up slightly as if to invoke a pause “I’d love to get onto the price and other hidden expenses in just a moment, but before that, it sounds like what you’re complaining about is a supply and demand imbalance. To many buyers with too little supply, do you think this is an issue Karakura's government should be addressing?”
A: “I’m not quite sure, I definitely don't think about those things often but there's obviously not enough houses to fit everyone that's clear, but they make do by having plenty of apartments for the growing population. I recognise I’m not exactly the standard by going out of my way to make such a purchase”
Barty: “Lets bounce back to that, the expenses, tell us a little about how being a house owner has affected you financially?”
A: A slight gulp is heard through the recording “Well… it hasn't been the easiest, you know you think it's over once you buy it, easy sailing from then on but that's not exactly it. Obviously you’ve got the rent every month but that's just a part of life, but then there's the cost to furnish it. Maybe it's because I'm only so new to this but you’d think your existing furniture would be enough but there's always more items you can buy! I will say Henki-Do has seen quite a lot more of me . . . I recognise this might just be a me issue”
Barty: The scratching of a pen onto a notepad can be heard over the recording “Ah, of course the infamous Consumer Culture surrounding us in Karakura. Tell me sir, do you think you have a consumption problem?”
A: the interviewer can be heard rubbing his arm slightly “Uh- I’d rather not discuss that in much detail. Thank you . . .”
Barty: Sensing the interviewees nervousness he backs up to some more lighthearted questions “Tell us more about the living situation. I assume it's not just you at the house is it?”
A: “It's not, I live there alongside one other friend. I know some other house owners that fit a lot more people in a single property, up to 6, so I’m very grateful only having to split it between me and them. . . I will say though I discovered a mysterious sleeping bag in the attic, I’m worried someone might have been sleeping there.”
Barty: The sound of writing stops “You think. Someone's been living. . . in your attic? Is that not something you’d notice or think to investigate further?” a general sound of confusion fills the air.
A: a bit flustered “I mean, it isn't likely right? I’m totally just overthinking it, surely the previous owners left it or something. Like I know the crime in this town is bad, hell a random guy ran in an threw a baseball at my window and I still need that repaired, its fine, I’m fine”
Barty: The sound of writing picks up again, albeit at a much slower pace “Sure, I mean I think I’d know if there was a stranger in my house but who am I to judge. Discussing that, let's move onto the crime issue. How does the crime among Karakura affect you as a home owner?”
A: “It hasn't affected me much but it's totally something I’m nervous about, like, I refused to even move in until I had the place blessed by some priests from the Monastery. And on the first day living there I saw a car full of masked individuals, I don’t even wanna question what they were up to. We’ve got these fancy ‘Neighborhood Watch’ signs plastered all over the place but I don’t think that exactly does anything, I’d much rather rely on KPD but they're not exactly the gold standard.”
Barty: “Do you think there's anything more that Karakura could be doing for you and other home owners?”
A: “Get rid of some of the eyesores, that Abandoned Apartment Complex right next to all the houses hasn't been touched in months! And don’t even get me started about the Powerplant, that place is just bleh! And quite honestly . . . it gives me the creeps, I hate living so close to it and god knows what goes on in that place. I assume if those places were cleaned up, maybe replaced with some more housing, the crime issue around it might scram as well.”
Bartholomew's chair can be heard moving back as he stands up, a firm handshake being given to the interviewee “Thank you for your time, I’m sure the citizens of Karakura will gratefully appreciate your perspective” Bartholomew gives a light pat on the back to the Home owner before ending the recording with a firm mash and click of the recorders vibrant buttons, marking the end of the tape.
