Backstory

Tienshi Ryusaki was born in Shionmura, a remote mountain village cut off from the outside world. The villagers lived without electricity, steeped in ancient traditions and self-reliance. Tienshi’s parents were humble farmers, and his grandfather raised horses for trade.

At age seven, a fever took both of his parents. Left alone, Tienshi was taken in by his grandfather, who taught him the art of survival — farming, tracking, and caring for animals. His closest companion became Rin, a chestnut mare with whom he shared a deep bond. Together, they explored the forests and mountains, finding joy amidst sorrow.

When Tienshi turned sixteen, tragedy struck. Thieves raided the village, stealing supplies and taking Rin. Fueled by grief and fury, Tienshi tracked the raiders through the wilderness. Upon discovering them cooking Rin’s meat over a fire, rage consumed him. He seized a pitchfork and killed them in a blind fit of vengeance.

Upon returning to the village, Tienshi was branded a murderer. Shionmura’s ancient laws forbade killing under any circumstance. He was sentenced to death.

On the eve of his execution, his grandfather Ryunosuke broke him free, giving him food, a cloak, and a hunting knife. He led Tienshi to a hidden trail that led to Karakura, a bustling city Tienshi had never seen.

Now in Karakura, Tienshi lives quietly, going to school, keeping to himself, and trying to make sense of a world full of noise, light, and people who don’t understand what he's lost. Beneath the surface, however, he remains the boy from the mountains — fierce, loyal, and unyielding in the face of those who would take from him again.

"Blood for blood."
