What's the title of your suggestion?: Transferring languages
What's your suggestion?:
As far as I’m aware, this currently cannot be done, sooo. . The suggestion is to allow for players to transfer their own languages to different character slots, basically the same idea as when the language update was implemented.
There’s a good amount of the player base with faction tags, and of those, it’s not uncommon for people to change out which character holds that tag. For example, my volleyball tag is held by a character who knows three languages. If I ever decided to change that and put him on a different character slot, it’d mean that he’d go without those three languages which are used commonly throughout roleplay until a ticket was made and handled. Along with that, it’d mean that the character taking the slot would have languages they’re not supposed to, and maybe even needing other languages switched onto it. Another use for this would be that some people have characters who share a college or high school slot, for example I have one college slot that three characters share who all know different languages, as they don't have more character slots to put the character on. Allowing for languages to be stored would allow for two different characters who share a slot to have different languages.
One possible concern is that “What if people abuse having a third language auth and try to get a third language on a character they shouldn’t?” - For these rarer cases, it’d likely be better to leave it for a ticket to be created for staff to transfer the third language unless it’s somehow capable for the commands to recognize character names and lock it to those like for ID cards. But, for the base two languages, it seems easier for players to do it themselves.
There could be more subcommands under ‘/srplanguage’, such as a ‘/srplanguage select’ , ‘move’ , I don't know what else, to pick a language off of a character slot and put it back into the storing system to then use ‘/srplangauge transfer’ to a different slot or keep it banked if the character is being shelved for some time.
or. like. the general idea of this. ya.
How will this benefit the server and community?:
Giving access to the subcommands it’d take to implement this idea would save a lot of confusion if players could deal with switching languages to slots themselves rather than making staff deal with it. Players would be able to quickly fix their languages whenever they decide to swap their characters around on slots, whether it be that the character is moving to a different slot, or being stored while a new one takes its place for whatever reason.
