TRANSITION - What would you say is the biggest difference between HS and college ?

As we all know, going to college (if you will continue to further education) is the 'rite of passage' to going into adult life, it's the closest we can be to functioning like whatever the meaning of an adult is, without baring the actual responsibilities (to a degree, that is. Broke college life is nothing easy ;sob; ).

To anyone who is in college and finished HS, what was the biggest difference between HS and college? What did you go in expecting and was it true?? If so, you've got any tips?

P.S : I wanna major in psychology and hopefully take a minor for filmmaking, anyone got these? :O

Literally everything. Oh my god. Assuming you mean IRL
College is so much better. You have a lot more freedom, building your schedule. I cannot properly stress this enough: IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TO TAKE DUAL ENROLLMENT IN HIGH SCHOOL, DO IT!
Ditch AP, AP does nothing if you can't pass a test. DE gives you a taste of what college is like.

Also moving away from home for college was a big change for me- suddenly having chances to spend my money, go out with friends on my own terms, go out to eat. Not everyone does that though

I'm a psychology major, which unfortunately means I am annoying (/j) but the only thing that I miss about high school was choir. Literally everything else was so much worse there. I don't take any classes before noon and it's great.

But yea I am a psych major! So if you have any questions about that I can maybe possibly help? They say statistical methods in psych is the hardest course but I honestly did not feel that way. (And you will hear about Freud, much more than you would like to.)

if your going engineering... PLEASE DONT!!!!

the difficulty of classes are subjective being dependent on the class, however the class pace is significantly faster then HS. Classes last a whole semester unlike HS which is an entire school year. Thus classes roll much faster and you need to be vigilant on it. Additionally attendance professors don't usually care that you leave class or dip class however it'll put you far behind from class. In college you're an adult, they'll treat you like an adult, you're expected to act your age, so if you dip classes, they'll presume you have other matters to deal with.

I think the thing with treating like an adult is the best thing so far, given it means I am well within my rights to deal with my education the way I want and also, I paid for college therfor it is not their lose (not really, I tihnk) and nEOPE engineering is something i tried to dabble in but wasnt my cup of tea </33

That is a luxury but dont abuse it. youll most likely be covering a whole unit and a half per class and missing one class can set you back. Especially in engineering it can really trip you over. If you leave class the professor will expect you to look over the lecture slides and do the hw for obvious reasons even if you didnt attend class that day.

I understand that!! I can leave but I still have work to turn in and lessons to retake.
