Just like any other position within the school, the Counselors are not only expected to be responsible for the students and their safety. Making sure they maintain and display themselves professionally, as well as following the Schools Policies, Although the role also has its own tasks to do. That task being, offering counseling to the students of Karakura High School and community college. While counseling being a broader term, you can simplify it in many ways.

Just like any other position within the school, the Counselors are not only expected to be responsible for the students and their safety. Making sure they maintain and display themselves professionally, as well as following the Schools Policies, Although the role also has its own tasks to do. | Offering student's advice/guidance | Sometimes students can find themselves at a stalemate. Unsure of what to do, or how to reach the goals the set for their future. Or it could be something as simple as how to resolve a headbutting issue between another student. Counselors can help by sharing some of their wisdom with students on how to conduct themselves or solve problems; even taking steps to reach their ideologies. |
Consulting students about their grades. | There are so many factors as to why students could be falling behind in class, whether they are not getting enough sleep at home, or they don't know how to balance the number of classes they have. Struggling with grades is something far more common but something a counselor is ready to deal with, acting as the connection between students and their teachers, or professors, a counselor can speak with instructors and students to help resolve the issue to the best of their capability. |
Taking care of the student's wellbeing (Mentally/emotionally) | School could be a troubling place, depending on how you perceive it. Most of the time the moral of students just withering away. Whether it be from social incapability or maybe something more personal. Counselors are there to make sure students can feel welcomed and invited to school. While we have a nurse to make sure any physical problems are solved, we depend on the counselors to make sure their mental state is just as well. |
Patrolling School grounds | While receptionists are behind desks answering questions, and nurses are taking care of students, the school grounds are usually unbothered; besides the caretakers making sure the school's property is well maintained and respected by students. For counselors on the other hand if not busy, it would be a good idea to make a relationship with students, it can be hard going out of your way to find someone to speak to, so letting the students know they have someone to rely on and where to find Counselors is also a great way to build that bond and trust between faculty and students. |
These are simplified explanations, but I believe the counselors should be a group of good energy and positive people, someone that the students want to turn to in times of need. The counselor position is far under used and in my opinion, I don't think a lot of students even know where to go to find a counselor. So, by being the driving force to display themselves I feel that the counselor role will introduce students to the areas of school which they might not even have known existed.
What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
I would consider myself to be someone who is well developed and familiar with different style of roleplay. Being on the server for around 4-5 years now I’ve indulged in different communities or Roleplay such as CasualRP, InjuryRP (Hospital Faction), GangRP (Crime Faction), and currently JockRP (Sports Faction). Dealing with many different scenarios such as FearRP, CombatRP (Situations involving both Rolling and P2ling), RivalryRP, among many others. While each Faction has different rules the overall feel on how to conduct yourself and maintain inside RP all stays the same. Having these different experiences of RP definitely helps better, not only myself but other people, to have an enjoyable RP experience.
Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:
I wish to apply to this Faction for a number of reasons. For both IC and OOC reasons and motives. Keeping it short though I feel that the character I have Planned out to become a counselor is both a great personality and someone I can enjoy playing. Not only for my own personal enjoyment but also giving those around me someone new they can also enjoy having around for entertainment and for a helping hand within the school faculty, for roleplay purposes it would make sense since the character has a son which came out to visit his father since he moved to karakura for the tax benefits and the pay raises. So being connected with his children but also following his dream of working in the psychology field would be a steppingstone for him. OOCly however this gives me something more to do as Being a Captain of a sports team could be stressful or just boring sometimes, having a break to do something else, or roleplay as another person is something I think definitely could help with that lackluster time of doing nothing.

During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:
Being a father, Kenryoku has a lot of experience with kids of different ages along with different personalities. Taking note of the student's demeanor, expression, body language, etc. he would gain an understanding of whether the student is in distress and freaking out, or he's just being rude and belligerent. Depending on the situation the response and outcome could always be different, but going with the first situation, if the student is having a breakdown Kenryoku would offer the student his sympathy and try to gain his trust. Offering to take him back to his office or some where private they could speak. Maybe being in a large crowd could be part of the reason for them freaking out. He would be reasonable and try to hear out the student and try to come to an understanding while also trying to comfort them to hopefully resolve their panic.
You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:
Well obviously, before taking any action, Kenryoku would radio to other staff of the altercation, for not only his safety, but also to get assistance, once timely doing so, he would rush through the crowd of children spectating and use his own physical advantage of genetics and being older to hopefully separate the kids, or just keep them at bay for the moment until other faculty arrives. Not only would he try to physically stop them but hopefully by his fatherly demeanor he could persuade them to stop going at each other if it's so serious to the point they might be willing to jump past a counselor just to cause the other student harm. Sadly though, he would have to take notice of the parties involved with the fight to question them and hand out detention slips if deemed necessary.
Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:
Upon taking notice of his colleagues' actions and/or behavior, depending on what is going on his sense of urgency could be vary; Firstly, he would try to reason with them. Ask why they are doing what they are doing, see if they could refrain from this behavior/action. Hopefully using his rationality to stop the activity. Although if they continue and become erratic then radioing in for additional help would help further. If it gets to a point where the activity is too dangerous to themselves or others, or just worthy of a report in general then he would have to let his higher ups know of the situation and the incapability of his colleagues' reasoning.
When in the employee break room, how does your character act?:
Even being in a break room he's still on school property during school hours, firstly keeping that act of professionalism is always first and foremost, although through making friendships with other faculty members he would also show hospitality, and how welcoming he is. He believes everyone being together is better than having many different groups of people. Going out of his way even to act as someone reliable and trustworthy. Although sadly since becoming a dad, he might be riddling his peers with cheesy but hopefully funny dad jokes to compliment his fatherly loving persona. Always making sure everyone around him is in the best of health.

/me As class began, Kenryoku would turn his attention towards the door, halting his previous conversation as students began to flood the room. Offering each one a smile, he would silently make his way towards the side of the classroom taking a seat in one of the extra chairs to let the professor handle their job. &f’’Just continue your class as normal. I'll make sure he’s paying attention, if he starts struggling i'll pop over there for a moment and see what the problem might be. Hopefully it won't be anything too worrisome. I'll let you know what happens by the end of class.’’
/me As The scream of urgency came from over the radio, the detail of the students fight escalating into a bloody state would make him drop his coffee mid sip as he made a hard gulp while sprinting towards the door. Obviously at the sudden fall, the coffee would stain his pants and shirt, even making him produce a slight &f’’YEouwch!’’ &uat the sudden pain from the heat. &f’’Ill clean that up later - I promise!’’ &uSwinging the door wide open, he'd sprint into the direction that was reported over the radio, as the keys in his pocket made a traumatizing jingle sound.
/me Placing his hand onto the door handle, hed swing it open with a casual yet prideful movement. &f’’Is it just me or do you guys look like you've been dealing with kids all day?’’ &usaid towards his peer sitting down at the table clearly in distress. The smell of coffee and irritation hitting his face all at once, just a normal day in the breakroom. Hopefully he could raise the spirits, or maybe accidentally make the situation worse. &f’’I didnt know this was the ‘I hate my job room’ I thought this was the breakroom! Hahahaha’’ &uthe silence that sat behind him laughing at his own joke was hard to watch.

Backstory:

On January 19th, 1985; Kenryoku Yuhi was born, up north, in a Largely populated city in Aomori, Japan. Being born into a lower-middle class family. Being the first and only child within his household. Growing up as a single child, the family's legacy, expectations, and pride/reputation would constantly be placed upon him. I guess you could chalk it up to parents wishing the best from their child, as the reasoning that they were always wanting the best out of him. Family life and early school was pretty boring and nothing you'd hear about in movies or books. He grew up with the traditional one income household as his mother stayed home doing most of the chores. So Kenryoku ended up being a very family-oriented mama's boy. Always so excited when he met the always increasing expectations of his mother. He wasn't a loner per say but he enjoyed his time expanding his knowledge and finding out new interesting pieces of information. Something about being the only person who knows something just felt right. Having nothing to complain about school wise, since he had a knack to learn, he would focus a lot of his off time into his family. making sure he was well mannered and maintained a humble persona as he got most of the things he wanted, as long as they were affordable.
Skipping ahead a couple of years, finally came the day that all families are nervous for. The day the college letter came in. After working his butt off throughout almost the entirety of his highschool, missing out on parties, most drama, and extracurricular activities; Kenryoku Decided focus on a dream. A bar that was set incredibly high. He applied for a very renowned college, located all the way down in Chiba, in hopes he'd get accepted. Not only to get a future in a career that he himself, and his near future family could be proud of, but also as a sign of relief for his parents to show that all the work and effort they have put in has paid off. There were a lot of new challenges and possibilities that Kenryoku would have to face such as living on his own, having to sustain and survive for himself, but also having to move to some place where he knows nothing about. Either way, He knew his goal, and what he wanted to do, and just because he would be in a new environment he wouldn't let this be what throws him off of his tracks, and who would have guessed it. The family were cheering and celebrating their son getting accepted.
Now already moved and adapted into his new dorm apartment, Kenryoku would put all his time and effort into gaining not only knowledge, but also as many degrees in the field of which he was pursuing. That field being the medical and science field. Taking up the difficult task of majoring in two fields side by side, somehow Kenryoku would carry himself through it, almost seeming like he was a mad scientist who would only love to work. Along the way meeting a special girl in one of his science classes who seemed to be a science major, she would make the first move on introducing herself to the work-aholic Kenryoku. From being lab and study partners, they would soon become something more than Kenryoku would ever imagine himself as. Now dating, the Chiba native would show Kenryoku that there was more to life than just working, gaining knowledge, and always wanting to achieve the highest position possible. Now he would seem more human, than a task assigned to a robot. Once graduating college, he'd soon pursue his next goal. Starting a family with this woman he'd fallen in love with, the girl who added a kick of life to the man, throughout his time in college. Now married, and moved back into Aomori by the age of 24, Kenryoku would find a stable job as a assistant nurse in a local hospital, Kenryoku would begin to live his life, not only as a husband but now, as a Father to his newly born son Kokichi Yuhi, and to the his other two kids, Eiko and Isamu, Who followed after.
Motivation for Joining KHS (Character perspective):
Well, primarily to help the kids, since getting a job within the hospital is something you have to work towards, I think another job that is equally as good is working for the school. Everyone struggles with something whether that be emotions, relationships, grades, etc. If I could help ease that struggle and give these kids some where they feel like they belong and enjoy it, then that is fine by me. Also my son attends the community college here, i think seeing him from time to time would be nice for him since he really misses his family. But maybe that could also apply for other students who feel lonely. Being someone that they can depend on and go to for their problems. Making this city a better place always starts within the school systems. Well, besides the government too.
Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:
I'm sure there other applicants also have their fair share of reasons as to why they deserve this position more than others. My take on that question is that I don't deserve anything more than anyone else. What I do know though is I am certain in my skills and what I am capable of. By accepting me I will make sure to not only go above and beyond what is expected of a counselor, but I will also make sure the students get the treatment they deserve. Not only as students but also as people. Hopefully if I am accepted, I am able to make these statements become reality.
