What's the title of your suggestion?: Useable Skateboards

What's your suggestion?:
I know that SRP has skateboards that are sold in some shops, and I think it would be a really cool feature if we could use them! I know that we have bikes, and I feel like we could implement something very similar, but with skateboards. I know that high school and college kids (myself included) skateboarded, and I think it would be really nice to see people able to skate around. I know that I would use it, for many of my characters.

How will this benefit the server and community?:
It allows for more authentic roleplays, as well as adding a use for items already in the game! It also could add depth to many characters, as it could allow for different roleplay experiences (detailrping tricks, having skate offs, maybe even having a skating club and community!). It could make the server more "real-life" esc, as students do skate in many countries. It also allows for more interactive content. It adds another factor of realness to the server.

+1

I agree! I believe this is a win/win for the community! Adds more variety despite some items are being removed soon so it would be nice to add another item to replace those said items that are being removed. Very good suggestion!

This isn't as easy-to-code as it sounds

Bikes, as well as any other vehicle, function by making the player sit down on invisible armor stands that move around. That way, movement is smooth since the player's position and direction is based on Minecraft's native riding mechanic (think of it like a minecart or a boat). However, with skateboards, you usually wouldn't sit on them. You would stand, which is where the problem arises.

Since the player isn't riding anything, Minecraft has no way of calculating where the player should go in a smoothly manner. Besides, even if SRP somehow found a very complex way to do this, the player's arms and legs would move, as if the player was running in place ontop of the skateboard.

The only way I see this working is if they implement it with a logic similar to gestures. Nevertheless, fusing minecraft skins with items is already a daunting task by itself, let alone having to do the same thing for each custom skateboard

Overall, it's a -1 for me given how complex this idea would be to bring to the server
